True. But it's fun to talk about such an odd ball design. 10" shorter than a Fit, 4 doors + a pickup bed? For a few potted plants, maybe? and 4000+ pounds. Quite the odd collection of specs.
Built in Austria, 650cc engine, tubular chassis, 4x4 with independent suspension and it went on to evolve into a major supplier for NATO vehicles in other categories too.
In 1964 this was offered in Britain, but didn't take off as it was too expensive because it was actually quite sophisticated and seen as an oddball..
Also it was about the length of a contemporary real Mini Traveller
Years and years ago I remember reading an article on the Haflinger Puch. Apparently it could traverse almost any terrain. A version of it was even manufactured in China, apparently.
It's a Steyr-Puch Haflinger they had a flat twin 650 engine (by Fiat of course) and they were actually developed for alpine conditions in Austria
Nato had a load of these in varying sizes - this was the smallest - and had winches, equipment to run power tools off and they were really efficient.
DIdn't catch on here as they were nearly as much as a basic LandRover in 1964 but I thought it would be relevant to the little truck posted before...
That little electric Telo truck has quite a different mission than the Haflinger. It's designed to provide plenty of carrying capacity in an urban /suburban on-road environment as an alternative to the huge gas-powered pickups that dominate the segment. More power to 'em, sez I.
I never used ECO mode in the Accord. After giving it multiple tries I didn’t see any improvement in gas mileage. All it seemed to do is blunt performance and make the car feel sluggish.

Hmmm, the caption said it was a '47 Frazer Manhattan. One of those was our very first family car. I did some research recently and found out some things I never realized about Frazers. According to Wikipedia.com Frazers were upscale from Kaisers. I'd always assumed the opposite. The Frazer was the first postwar car with an envelope body and new styling!
They also said Frazers were made in Ypsilanti MI at the former Ford factory .that, turned out thousands of B-24 Liberator 4-engine bombers during the war. It was the largest factory ever built at the time.
Styling was by "Dutch" Darrin (of Kaiser Darrin fame). Power was from a Continental 6.
DC10 has 3 engines. While the DC8 has 4, the engine pylons are different. That bump on the inboard pylon at the top of the engine is unique to the 707.
For maximum obscurity, I guess it could be a 720, which was basically a shortened 707. But I doubt it.
I’m so clueless on planes. I think the only one I could identify (with any certainty) is a 747 which I believe have pretty much all been retired (from US based airlines at least)
When I was 30 yrs old, I flew in the cockpit jump seat on a 727. Right behind the pilot. Of course, this was previous to 9/11. (also, 33, 34, 40, etc, etc)
This was taken in August 1953 in Launceston, Cornwall, small market town just off Bodmin Moor..
Most of the cars are either pre-war or the re-introduced post war ones which are virtually the same, but there is an unusual Jeep there which was probably a Utility model built by some coachbuilder - typically they would make an estate car type body and if the purchaser kept it three years they avoided the (punitive) purchase tax.
I assume this was a war-surplus model as Jeep weren't marketing them in the UK at that time, as far as I am aware.
Arizona plates. Woolco must have been gone before my time, never seen one in person.
Woolco hung in up here until the mid-90s. They were pretty decent stores. Some of their locations were taken over by Walmart when they entered the Canadian market.
Two of the most recognizable cars ever: A VW "Beetle" near the RCA Victor sign , another towards the right and a ;pair of gen1 Mustang coupes, yellow '65 in mid pic and a white coupe just behind white (Chevy?) wagon.
Buy an RCA Victor product and you will buy happiness. There existed another such billboard but instead of its having the happy bear it had two happy birds.

In a similar vein there was this...

Looks like a macho version of those little Kei pickups from Japan.
