60 Ford looks like a lowline car. Couple of wraparound side window Mopar wagons behind it.

Houston, TX, around 1980 or ‘81. Bonus points if you can ID the car of the poor guy broken down on the shoulder.

2nd row from R, 3rd car back, a 77-79 Cougar (I saw one on the road today). To the R of that and a little + ahead, an 81+ formal Granada. Car with hood up maybe a 71-73 Mustang or similar year Javelin?

I see a Bug going away.
  • tjc78tjc78 Member Posts: 17,018

Two Grand Prix and a Cutlass up front. Those must have been pretty new. Going the other way pretty sure that’s a Mustang II next to the small (Datsun??) pickup.

Here's an odd pic with some interesting iron>

i'll call the blue Pontiacs. On left a 1964 Tempest LeMans or GTO. Down street, a 65 Catalina or Bonneville.

I’ll take the 55 Thunderbird and the 60 Ford.

  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,441
55 or 57 T bird that seems to have had its wheels stolen.

Blue falcon, early 60s, across the street. In front of a gold Lincoln I think.

The ‘60 Ford in the rare white paint finish. I would estimate only about 90% were produced in that color. :p

On my screen the 60 Ford’s color appears pale blue and not white, but I could be wrong.
Maybe the fishergirl used the Bird’s wheel as a float or sinker.

I think the white Ford is a '61.

To me the fins appear horizontal (60) and not slanted (61).

  • ab348ab348 Member Posts: 20,319
There are two Fords in the pic, a ‘60 and a ‘61. On my laptop screen both appeared to be white. When I look at the pic on my tablet, the ‘60 could well be Ford’s famous pale pastel blue.

More or less across the street from the 65 Pontiac is a white Corvair that looks exactly like one I drove in college. Unusual combination of a four-door with a four-speed. Tried to kill me a couple of times, but man was it fun to drive.

Both the 60 and 61 Fords are white on my screen too. 61 looks like a Galaxie 2 door HT (non-Starliner), 60 looks like a Fairlane. Behind the 60 Ford looks like a neat blue 63 Falcon hardtop.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670

Here we go again . At The OLd Motor They say this is a 1954 Ford Crestliner Skyliner, The "Skyliner" name was later given to a retractable hardtop and Mercurys w the plexiglass r oof section were called "Sun Valleys."

    Confusing! :/

The Ford Crestliners existed from 1952 to 1954.
During those years, Crestliners had different models, the Victoria, Sunliner, Fordor, Skyliner, etc.

  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,462
Mystery wagon is a Borgward Isabella I believe.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,462
Car behind the Beetle looks like a full size 62 Ford on dog dish caps.
  • Lostwrench3Lostwrench3 Member Posts: 824
The side strip is wrong for a '62. I'll go with its being a 1961 Ford.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
I think the wagon is a Borgward Isabella Combi

The VW is post-59 but pre-64 IIRC.

When I see one of those bathtubs I always think of the old 1950’s Superman series with George Reeves.

I think the issue is that the trunk size shrunk over the years, yet women continued to pack the same amount of clothes for vacation.
