Jeepster; my wife's stepfather had one in that exact color. Huh - could be the same vehicle, as we sold it after he passed.

This may be the ugliest rear end ever put on a car but a friend "frenched" those tail lights onto the fenders of his '47 Ford custom and it came out great.

1961 Dodge Polara. That was a banner year for Chrysler Corp. The ugliest front end ever put on a car (Plymouth) and the ugliest rear end ever put on a car (Dodge). I guess we should be grateful they at least didn't put them on the same car. That combination could have caused traumatic blindness.

Dearborn, MI, 1961. Most of these look like they could use that wash next door. Expands very well.

A 60 Ford and I think a 57 Ford hidden by the Corvette.

60 Ford is a Starliner. I agree behind the Corvette a 57 Ford maybe a hadtop.
  • tmarttmart Member Posts: 2,402

Don’t think it’s a Starliner. The C pillar looks too thick, but it could be the angle.

  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,465
I think I can see the round C-pillar decorations, and the angle of the C-pillar/rear windshield looks right:

  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
I think the Corvette is 1961 MY. The VW ca. 1960-63 ( big backlight, tiny tailights). The Buick looks like a '56 or '57.

What is a food gifts restaurant? You walk in and they serve you a free dinner at random?

Add commas. The restaurant has food, duh, and gifts, like a Cracker Barrel.

  • xwesxxwesx Member Posts: 17,697
I prefer my take. We need restaurants like that!

    Bug eyed Sprite?
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
Yup, it's a 1958-'61 Austin-Healey Sprite popularly known as a "Bug-Eye". Originally they were going to be fold-downs but itswould have cost too much.

The Lane Motor Museum has an MG from that race series (B, maybe?). They've brought it up to the Cincinnati Concours a couple of times.

I loved those back in the 70s. Rust buckets though in salt country. I doubt many survive in drivable condition.

    Yep, Group B Metro 6R4:

I think the R5 was a group or two lower. Rallying was insane then.

right in the middle at Dearborn isn't that a Rambler American circa 1958?

Yep, '58-'60. Just read an article on the rise and fall of Rambler in an old Automobile Quarterly.

Sterling - either an 825i or 827i. Honda mechanicals with British electronics.

Sterling - it seemed like a good idea at the time.

As Shifty said years ago, the problem with Jaguars and other British makes wasn't the engines, it was everything else on the car. Sterling proved this.
  • sdasda Member Posts: 7,598
A lady I used to work with bought a Sterling, thinking like most, it would be reliable because of the Honda bones. It was a beautiful car, soft leather, real wood trim. And, yes, it was an electrical nightmare. Often it wouldn't start for any obvious reason, then days later would run just fine. I recall she nursed it along for 4-5 years and then bought a Camry.

This area was redeveloped for Expo, and looks much different today.

A Pinto I think, and a Falcon tutone wagon.

  • bhill2bhill2 Member Posts: 2,602
I'm pretty sure that the car behind the Falcom is a 66 Chevy wagon.

FWIW (not much) the parents of my best friend growing up had a Falcon wagon of that color combination.

Not much of interest in the Colorado shot but on the up on the left border about halfway is a Porsche 356 Coupe.
