Pinzgauer (of course) 710? Hard to tell the year. I didn't realize they were sold by Steyer-Daimler-Puch (Austria) to a British firm. IIRC, David E Davis of C/D loved 'em. Here's the Wiki blurb: Pinzgauer is a high mobility all-terrain 4x4 and 6x6 military utility vehicle manufactured in Guildford, Surrey, United Kingdom, by Automotive Technik (ATL). ATL has been manufacturing the Pinzgauer since the year 2000. Before then the Pinzgauer was produced by Steyr-Daimler-Puch in Graz, Austria (hence the name, based on an Austrian breed of horse). ATL has since then been acquired by Stewart & Stevenson Services, Inc. in 2005, which in turn became a subsidiary of the aerospace and defence group Armor Holdings, Inc in May 2006. One year later Armor Holdings was itself acquired by BAE Systems.
Someone near where I live runs round in one of these - I think it is ex British Army, but I have never seen it close up, so I haven't had a good look. Our Army has a number of these, so I sometimes see a few on the road - probably recent ones (ie built in Uk, rather than overseas ones).
Well it is Renault-powered but it's perhaps a closer relative of the New Brunswick-built Bricklin SV. The 1969-1975 Manic GT was built in Granby PQ, Canada. It was based on the Renault 10.
Yes, a Bricklin location, but the story's a bit like DeLorean-young guy gets idea to build a sports car, gets govt. to chip in, goes with rear engine Renault power, goes belly up (don't they all?).
International Harvester Travelall. I'll guess '54.
My dad took an early 60's model on a long weekend test drive to our fish camp when I was around 8 or 10. He complained that it drove too much like a truck (d'oh). Maybe that's why I stuck with minivans over SUVs.
Not exactly, the lack of side marker lights should have tipped you off that it wasn't the US model badged as a Mercury. It is in fact the UK version, a '72 Ford Capri, 2.0 Mk 1
The (2.3) V6 Shifty referred to was optional in the US. The standard engine was a gutless 1.6. IIRC the 1.6L cars were built in Dagenham UK while the 2.3s came from Koln, W Germany.
I assume the 2.0 was a bored out version of the 1.6.

Apparently they can make a Hummer H1 look clumsy on bad ground.

Yeah the show first aired in '74 and like a lot of TV folks he got a new one every year. The car in my pic is a '71.
