Hudson got it, it's a C33 ('89-92) Laurel. The Laurel was the halfway car between the compact Skyline/Cefiro and the full-size (by Japanese standards) Cedric/Gloria. I can't find any photos with the doors open, but I think that generation was a true hardtop.
You get a gold star! 1961 must've been the last time there was so much Detroit iron on the streets of New York. Nowadays even the taxis aren't always US brands, Toyota Sienas are catching on.
That's good. They call it a Custom Sedan Delivery and it is a 1947.
It has a painted front rather than a chrome/nickel grill. I don't know if that would be the funeral car format or not. I suspect this was the base and options were added on for the vehicle's appearance for delivery to the final resting place of human remains.
I am often surprised by vehicles I don't know existed in the US market and that's what caught my eye on this one. More pics.
Funny thing about those cars, as they are so complex and classic looking (I think that one would have air suspension just like a 6.3), yet the market gives them no value...I bet my 6 cylinder fintail is worth as much as an equivalent V8 W109. The only ones with demand are 6.3s - which sell to rich people or those into self-torture.
Yer close Karsick, it's a 1990 Camry(Gen II). Camrys are built in Georgetown KY but that photo appears to be of a prototype for a Police Package since there are no specific markings.

When we had THAT Focus, so did Europe. The Focus on the bottom is the second-generation European model, which, as you point out, we sadly did not get.

I can see what looks like a D on the valve cover there.

And the car he is waxing is a then-nearly-new BMW 7er, ca. 1983-85

I assume it was for the cops in Kentucky (isn't that the state where Toyota had a plant for these?)
Anyone ever seen an actual Camry Patrol car?
