Georgetown, KY is right on I-75, just north of Lexington.. I think only county sheriff and Georgetown police had Camry cruisers... But, they patrol I-75 frequently.. The plant is on the east side of the interstate and downtown Georgetown is on the west side.
KSP was one of the first to have Mustang pursuit cars..
Moskvitch - I think this is the 408, but it may be an early 411. If its a 408, then late 60's to about 1972... I used to have a friend who had a succession of Moskvitchs - mostly estate versions. They were generally reliable, but very shoddy cars, and they tended to fall apart after about 3 years so you didn't tend to see old ones. They sold well in Britain for a few years in the early 70's, when they were just about the cheapest car on the market- typically about £ 100 less than the cheapest Mini - but crash regulations didn't help, and when Lada came along in the mid 70's they swept up all the potential market..
That's a late (1979 or 1980) Chevrolet Monza Spyder
Hudson you're exactly right, it's an '80 Monza Spyder. I don't know why they called a closed car a Spyder, I guess the same reason VW gave the name Phaeton to a sedan.
The '70 Dino is a Dino Spider (Fiat spells it with an "I"), the Coupe was quite different, with Bertone styling.
3 out of 4 ain't bad but that is definitely not a '54 Cadillac, those got the wraparound windshields first seen on the '53 Eldorado. The rest of the GM lineup got the wraparounds in '55 (as did the FoMoCos).
That's right that particular headlight treatment was AFAIK unique to '54 Buicks. Frankly, I can't see enough of the other Buick (next to the Caddy the guy is sitting on) to say if it's a '54 or '55.
My bad! I was inbcorrect in stating that only Cadillac had the wraparound windshields in '54. Buick and Olds had 'em as well but not Pontiac oir Chebby.
Personally I've still got a soft spot for Wraparounds. I've loved 'em ever since I saw Harley Earl's Lesabre concept at the GM Motorama, ca. 1951>
That hatch is one of the few Bangle designs I like.
I agree. Too bad we don't get it. BMW failed in their previous attempts, but they were more a hatchet job (cut off the trunk) than a true hatch back. I think they'd have more success with this kind of a hatch, like Audi is with the A3
If they offered that model in the US, as long as it has a moonroof, I would go to the dealer tonight and hand them a deposit check.
Read a review last night on the coupe, and it sounded wonderful, but I doubt I could make it work with my ever growing kids (they outgrew my tC 2 years ago!)
But, the 5 door work be fine now.
My "hey, the kids are finally out of the house" car would be the convertible version!
Also correct that the 318ti was basically a German gremlin compared to the 3 series (Gremlin -> Hornet)

Up close and personal, unfortunately...

Sounds like these were like the first Hundais in the US, cheap, popular, terrible...

It should not be "Spyder" since Italian does not have a "y" in it.

V8 Monzas were infamous for that but the pictured car is in fact powered by ye olde 3800 V6.

In the US, that car would probably be about half that price. But, then again, we probably pay twice as much for many old English cars (I own two).

Make mine a convertible.

Let's see...
1) Yellow numberplate
2) RHD
3) Wet pavement
4) Brick buildings
5) Tidy lawn
Yep, I'd agree. :P
As if you couldn't tell.

What about "Manic Monday" or "Walk like an Egyptian?" I think Susanna Hoffs was my favorite Bangle.
