Oops, my bad! You're right, Shifty, apparently the Bijou Cab was a one off. The 214 Bijous made at Slough and sold to the public were all Coupes according to Motorbase.com.

If you think that the '57 Packardbaker looks bad, it's not as remotely as ugly as the 1958 models.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
The Ralliart model is selling well, they had to adjust production to build more of those (and fewer base models).

This looks a bit big for a Long-wheelbase Cloud I/II, so maybe a Phantom V - body by James Young ?
  • british_roverbritish_rover Member Posts: 8,502
    Is it purple?
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
Indeed it is the James Young version of the Phantom V.

As for the color, Rover, I'd say it's a dark maroon with a hint of purple.

    Just a guess....80s Ford Fairmont?
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
I would call that color "eggplant". ;)

I think that's right... it definitely looks like one of the later years for the model....

That looks rather spiffy for an early '80s Ford. Wasn't there a Lincoln version of the Fairmont?
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 265,794
There was a Mercury version.. Zephyr?

I don't think there was a Lincoln... They had the Versailles, but that was Granada based...

There usually was a badge-engineered Mercury model equivalent to the Fords.

The illustrated car was an '86 Fairmont Futura. Yes there was a Mercury Zephyr version.

I'm sure Rolls would prefer you call it "Aubergine" ;)

I would if I could pronounce it.

Reminds me of people who say "Tar-jay" instead of Target. :D
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
Oh yeah, Tar-jay - they compete with Jacques Penne.

This one's been done before but in case you missed it:

I think that style Fairmont and the name itself died off after MY 1983 - replaced by Tempo (?)

1949 Cadillac. But most of the roof appears to have been removed between the back and front windshields and on the car's right side. Is it a salesman's sample like we see on Antique Roadshow?

    Actually, that's a 1948 Cadillac.
  • karsickkarsick Member Posts: 312
    Lincoln version?

...don't forget the (forgettable) Fairmont-based mid-80's Lincoln Continental (the one with the combined '80 Seville-ish bustle-back + phony spare cliches). :P
  • imidazol97imidazol97 Member Posts: 27,676
    Lemko,
Wish I could say I typed wrong, but I didn't. I see the difference now in the grills. You're right.

What about the removable roof? Anyone?

Yeah.... but, being based on a Fairmont, and being a Lincoln version of a Fairmont would be a little different...

Not that I'm defending that version of the Town Car... :surprise:

Yep, the spoilers says it's a '48. Would Edmunds be wrong, lol?

"A quirky relic from the previous office space, this 1948 Cadillac Fleetwood sits close to the editorial department. A coffee bar was previously housed in the car's interior, but it has since been converted into a bench (the interior of the vehicle is now a rounded love seat)."

So it's not just the roof missing, but most of the interior guts. I liked it better as a coffee bar. Sneakers/PF_Flyer/ModBob/YoYo Man used to have a photo of the Caddy when it held coffee and was painted black; maybe I can get him to post it here.
  • imidazol97imidazol97 Member Posts: 27,676
Oh no. Car people did that to a Cadillac?

"I think that style Fairmont and the name itself died off after MY 1983 - replaced by Tempo (?)"

The name died out, but the 1985 LTD was a Fairmont in disguise. Just a few minor sheet metal changes. I remember seeing one at the Ford dealer that year.

And let's not forget that the Fox platform was used for the Mustang all through the 80's., and for the Thunderbird until it was stopped in the 90's.

It's the new Hyundai Genesis, RWD V8 Luxury sedan. Imagine a 7 series clone for $40K.

I forgot about those little LTDs. I think the wagon version might actually have lived through the 1986 MY as well.
  • karsickkarsick Member Posts: 312
    Regarding that Hyundai Genesis:

Anyone out there thinking what I'm thinking.......

If the KOREANS can develop a car like that (if it drives & works as good as it looks), why can't our OWN DOMESTIC INDUSTRY??????????????

I present to you the Sebring/Avenger twins as proof, and rest my case.

    :P

Car people did that to a Cadillac

I don't think the seller knew the impending fate of the car when he sold it. :shades:

Judging by the utes surrounding it, it's an Aussie Chrysler ca. 1970, but I know no details

Not unique enough - have to serve Maxwell House or Folgers with a cut up Camcord. I didn't see any MINI desks at the office last trip there.

    But will it drive well?

Nearly very Korean car I have driven drove like crap. I drove a Tiburon GT V6 that was actually pretty good but it had aftermarket wheels and extra sticky tires on it helping. My wife had a Kia Sportage years ago and it was actually decent off-road the couple of times I took it on some easy trails. It was scary on the highway though as it was easily blown across lanes.

Both the sedan and wagon lasted into the 1986 model year before being replaced by the Taurus (which wasn't launched until December of 1985). The Fox-platform Continental ended production in 1987, the T-bird/Cougar ran through 1988, the Lincoln Mark VII ended with the 1992 model year, and of course the Mustang ran through the 2004 model year.

Some kind of race spec NSX.

Maybe modified for a hill climb?

Or is that a NSX Type-R?
