You're right on Lemko, it is a Silver Cloud I and it's parked in
Louisburg Square, Beacon Hill, Boston. The till is from Disney's The Parent Trap.

Bumpy, I'm having trouble translating. Which language is that? :confuse:

The good Ford Ranger (Thailand) that we don't get because of the chicken tax. IIRC this particular one is the version slated to be built in South Africa.
  • bumpybumpy Member Posts: 4,425
French, presumably. I think the one guy is embarrassed about inadvertently tearing up the pavement with the R5 Turbo.

    1980ish AMC.

From the size and the nose, I think it is a Concord. I think it is too big to be a spirit.

Same door handles that I had on my '74 Hornet too, but not surprising, since it is basically the same car!

It's not a Concord, Spirit, or Eagle, but you're all right that it's related to all of them.

It's a VAM Lerma...a Mexican-market version of the AMC Concord with a Spirit hatchback grafted onto the rear. The Lerma was offered in 2-door and 4-door hatchback styles. I'd love to have one...but I've never seen one in person.
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,357
Well, that explains why I thought it was a Concord and a Spirit, since it was both!

Oh, and that Ranger looks like something they sould sell a lot of if they managed to bring it over here.

The old Twingo was a bit bizarre looking, though.

You can always count on the French for quirky cars.

    That's it Bumpy.

Ford really needs to get over their NIH Complex, We're the largest truck market in the world but Ford is still giving us a 1980's style Ranger and basically handing the compact pickup market to Toyota and Nissan even tho they have a modern Ranger
    in their stable,

Then there's the Mondeo, Euro-Focus, Fiesta etc.... :confuse:

    Lambo Muira.

Those wheels & the garish paint (& the mid-engine layout) give the game away!
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
Good eye Karsick, the wheels and the rest belong to a '68 Miura.

The Rolls is pulling in front of a 1957 Plymouth. The car across the street is a 1959 Pontiac.

Nope, as previously stated that's a Bitter CD, it resembles a Maser because it was bodied by Frua who did a number of Maseratis.

Galant refresh. Makes you wonder why they bothered.
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,229
Can't reply, due to stupid margin, but I think this is a 1948 Pontiac Streamliner Sedan Coupe
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,229
Nobody wanted my shiny GT from London 2006...

It's a revival of a great old name - an Invicta S1 - with Ford V8 power, ranging from 4.6litre to 5.0litre... I have seen one on the road a couple of times, but they are still rare - about 6 to 10 cars per year...
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
Yep, it is '48 Pontiac Streamliner.

Hyundai i30 - not that new, it's been on sale here for about six months
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
Yep, it is '48 Pontiac Streamliner.

I took the extra wide pic down - maybe you can streamline it. :shades:
  • bumpybumpy Member Posts: 4,425
It's new to us, set to be sold on this side of the pond as the Elantra Touring since Hyundai doesn't do the i_0 model name thing here. They're both cousins of the Kia Cee'd.

I remember reading about those :P

The Toyota Will (or WiLL) circa 2000

It was Toyota's first attempt at NOT being boring.

They were going to license other products (beer?) with that same Will brand.

BTW - the car behind it is one of my favorites, the Nissan Pao :shades:
  • karsickkarsick Member Posts: 312
    The Hyundai i30, huh??

Something tells me that Nissan's Infiniti division might have a wee little problem with that kind of name in the USA :P

Not only that, it looks & sounds much like a potential BMW model, if they ever offer a 130i here.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670

That probably explains why they decided to call it the Elantra Touring here.

It is indeed a Toyota Will VI, although there are no badges on it to indicate a link with Toyota - this one has a plate indicating it was made in late 2000 - but it was only imported here about two years ago - this is outside the workshop of the guy who runs a local dealership for grey imports, just down the road from where I live - I think I posted the Pao which I also took a picture of, a couple of weeks ago. His main business is the Nissan Figaro.
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,229
We get the i30, and are soon to get the i10, I think. We don't yet get the Infiniti, although that is supposed to be happening in 2008, as it is sold in LHD Europe...

The problem with these car names comes when you try to say them - the Kia pro_Ceed (!?), etc.... They all look fine on a computer keyboard, - not so good when the thing is a few years old and you are trying to call out the breakdown service at the roadside. ( Although, in fairness, I gather they don't really go wrong that often..).

That's right, the '66s didn't have the hump housing the tach.

Back when interiors didn't change much with performance options. That one (except for the hump, steering wheel, and the disc brake circle on the pedal) looks just like my (long gone) '65, with it's 170-6 and 4 speed. Even the reverse lockout is the same.
  • bhill2bhill2 Member Posts: 2,598
I've always wanted to know; how did the Mustang do with the 170 / 4 speed combination? Did they have reasonable performance?

For its day, it was OK, I could (and did) drive it as hard as I could, and I never got a speeding ticket. That should tell you something. My boss as the gas station told me I should take it to the autocrosses and compete with the 240Zs. I laughed. These days, I'd worry about merging with 70 mph freeway traffic.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Check out the gaping wheel gap, and the long overhangs.

    They really age that design.
