There ya go, it's a Plymouth Champ, the badge twin of the Dodge, or is it a badge triplet since there was a Mitsubishi Colt?

That model Mitsubishi Colt was never sold in the US, so all three were never marketed in the same region. But the NEXT generation, sold as the Mitsubishi Mirage, saw three brands. The generation after that saw FOUR brands when the Eagle Summit was added to the mix.

Fiat Stilo Abarth - at least that's what it says above the windscreen. Current, or last season...

    I think the XC60 will be a 2009 model.

The red car in the front is an Arnolt-Bristol. The hardtop behind it seems to be a Gilbern, but I'm not entirely sold on that answer.
  • texasestexases Member Posts: 11,107
"The red car in the front is an Arnolt-Bristol"
Yep, bonus points for the model/year...
(I don't know about the hardtop)
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
The car behind the Arnolt is a Bristol 409, pic must've been taken at a Bristol meet in the UK. I don't think there's enough on this side to have a meet. ;)

Your photo subject is similar to the 1960 Arnolt-Bristol I photographed...shown here.

My pic was listed as a '54 type 404/x. For all things Bristol, you can go to

According to that site the car behind the Arnolt is indeed a 409.

Nice cars, Bristols.. I see the odd one around town - very few were ever exported, so most of them are still in UK, and most of those would be around London .
A little known fact about this model of Bristol, and the similar 410/411 that succeed it is that the spare wheel is carried behind the front wing, and I think the battery and tool kit, or something are in the other one, to balance the car...
Never a sports car, but a really grand tourer, in that old fashioned way, all leather seats and burr walnut...Chrysler V8 helps push it along, though it is a bit of a drinker...

    Loud paint?
    Bodykit?
    Big rims?
    Full-size body?

This has to be a competitor for the Holden Commodore.

I'm guessing Ford Falcon (Aussie model) with a V8.

Dunno about the V8 but I suspect it has one even if it's called the Ford Falcon XR6
    (2004 model).

Does it say "Rover" or "Austin?"
  • lemkolemko Member Posts: 15,261
...I don't know how many people ever saw the BBC show often shown on PBS stations called "Keeping Up Appearances" starring Patricia Routledge about a pretentious middle-aged middle class woman. Anyway, what kind of car does her husband Richard drive? It looks like some kind of a Rover.
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,350
Oh, I know this! Or at least I did..

I think he actually had a Civic. Unless there was a Rover knockoff at the time.

    It's not "Bucket", it's "Bouchette"

It's a light blue metallic car and I did see the Rover nameplate on it. Just don't know what model or year. I believe Onslow's beater is a 1970s Ford Capri or something similar.

Naah, the XR6 had an Australia-only 4.0L inline six. The turbocharged XR6T was and is the one to get.

I think it is a Rover 214 or 216, a product of the Honda / Rover tie-up of the time.

I saw the bloke that played the husband, funnily enough, coming out of Baker Street tube station, last year.

This is one of those confusing bits of Rover/Leyland history. They made a car called the Princess 1800 or 2200, indeed initially, in the mid-70's they launched as a Morris/Austin or Wolseley but when they updated it to provide a hatch back, in the early 80's, they had decided that the Princess name would be dropped, and this car was launched as the Austin Ambassador...( the name Princess was or at least had also been used by them before, as a model in the luxury VandenPlas range, and even earler (1948-59) they had made Austin Princess limo's, but that is another story.)
This Austin Ambassador is one of those cars which was so common 20 years ago that it wouldn't have attracted any attention, (except when it broke down - they were pretty lousy cars) but now they are virtually extinct - I have been looking out for one of these for a while, because I used to know someone who had one, and he reckoned there were hardly any left when he sold his, for scrap...I haven't seen one on the road for years, although there is an owners club...

That XC60 kinda looks like the Mazda CX9. Wonder if they share any DNA beneath the skin?
  • bumpybumpy Member Posts: 4,425
    It's basically a CX-7 with a Volvo nose.

The CX-7 and CX-9 look exactly the same anyway

    '61? TR3 (although I always foget what a 2 looks like..)

It's a '59 TR-3A, it has a wider grille than the earlier TR-3 or the TR-2 which had a deeply inset grille.

    This is what a TR-2 looked like>
    image

The TR-3A had a bigger (2.1L vs 2.0L) engine, which was the same as used in the TR-4/4A, the same chassis was used as the TR-2 (and for that matter TR-4 and non-IRS TR-4A).

    Updated Aussie Ford Falcon.

Alan Mullaly has expressed a desire to have one of these for his own.

Now, does that mean that we'll ultimately see the Falcon sold in the US?

    Don't count on it.
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,229
Thanks for the link, 20 miles north of Edinburgh is a long way to go to see a car, though - about 475 miles - which isn't much on your roads but is a major pain on ours... £ 995 is not bad for a car which is probably rarer than a Veyron, though... !
  • texasestexases Member Posts: 11,107
    "...probably rarer than a Veyron"

Now how many times has a Austin Ambassador ever been compared (in any way) to a Veyron...you read it here first!

Yep, it's the new Aussie Ford Falcon G6E Turbo. Can you believe we get the frumpy Taurus and they get that rocket?

If the Aussie-sourced G8 does well I wouldn't be surprised if Mullaly gets his way.

Armstrong Siddeley 234/236 ( I can never tell them apart). Late 50's, although this one has been re-registered.
Spot-On cars made a model of this car at the time, and I've got one somewhere in my parent's loft - it would look a lot more battered than this example, though
