The mid-year '75 (intro) model had the eggcrate grille and was offered only in silver with a silver vinyl roof. The '76 added other colors. '77 brought the new grille, a vertical style that (badly) mimicked Rolls-Royce, along with new colors and the option of a vinyl roof delete. I think the first two-tone paint was offered in '78. The last year for the Nova-based Seville was 1979.

Incidentally, the Nova-based Sevilles were powered by a fuel-injected version of the Olds 350. Not very economical, but it had pretty good part-throttle response. Unfortunately its full-throttle response was accompanied by an "uh, are you SURE?" from under the hood. As a teen I managed to hit an indicated 100 mph in the black '76 model on a two-lane state highway without killing myself.

'80 was the birth of the Eldorado-based FWD "bustleback" Seville, an abysmal-looking beast.

I'm going to go with 1970 Bonneville

Good guess but I sneaked in the little remembered 1970 Pontiac Executive
on ya. :P The Executive was a short-lived model intended to slot between the Catalina and the Bonnie.

Good one! I remember the Executive... We were a Pontiac family at that time..

I recognized it as a '70, as my aunt traded in her '67 Bonnie on one... Not a real pretty face (the '70, not my aunt... )

Looking at the wheels and spoiler, probably the SHO.

    "2010 Ford Taurus "

Might that be the SHO? Hope they have one at the Dallas car show this weekend...
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,675
Yep, that's the 2010 Ford Taurus SHO.

Lancia Fulvia Berlina - I think this one is a GT, but not sure - about 1967
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,675
Not sure of the year but yes, it's a Lancia Fulvia Berlina, rarely seen on these shores.

Monteverdi Hai. One of the most outrageous cars ever built.

I may have a second hand one that I picked up at a flea market, same color too. nice.

It was made in that color and in a black/grey combination IIRC. I think it was out of production by the time I was a kid, but I had a lot of obsolete cars. I think I learned a lot of my obscure cars from toys :shades:
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,675
Yep, it's a 1970 Monteverdi Hai 450SS, supposedly one of the four SS variants built (power by MoPar Hemi).

I knew a girl in high school who had one of those. Is it a 1977-78 Dodge Colt made by Mitsubishi?

Second generation Toyota Paseo ca. 1996, which seems very out of place with the German plates.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,675
    Yep, Paseo v.2 (Euro-spec).

Dacia 1300 wagon - before the mid 80's facelift, I think, so say 1981. Romanian licence -produced Renault 12 - They sld them here for quite a few years, at around that time, although the plates on this one look Danish, I think.

Funnily enough I saw a tatty Renault 12, saloon, on which the Dacia was of course based, going past my office today - can't be many of those left running either.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,675
Yep, it's a Dacia 1300, looks post facelift to me but I don't know the year.

Something about the weird swoopiness to the rear of the Renault 12 sedan has always been off-putting for me

    image

Maybe I just don't get this French "style". I think I had a Majorette version of this car.
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,234
Yes - there were a couple of facelifts, I think this is from the second lot - the third grille was after they stopped importing them to our shores...(Although we are due to get the Dacia Logan shortly, I think)
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,234
I've got a 1/43rd Renault 12 Gordini - not sure of the maker, but it's fairly recent...

Apart from its ugliness, I always thought that slopping trunk was a scorn to the luggage.

A scorn to luggage...sounds very French, I can go with that.

I always thought the 504 was a decent looking car...much better than a Renault 12.

Who would make a model of a Nigerian taxi? That's pretty funny.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,584
It'd be interesting to see the Logan make it to NA....would base at around $7000 I think, undercutting even such machines as the Aveo and Rio.

Hyundai's doing hood ornaments now? That's an Equus - next step up from a Genesis.

Those headlight covers must be 3 feet wide

Is the hood ornament spring loaded? That could be fun in a crash.

Is it a souped up Azera or was it just given an almost identical greenhouse?

    "Pimp My Hyundai!"
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,675
Yup, that's the new Hyundai flagship the 2010 Equus. They are discussing whether to export it to North America. If I were them I wouldn't, it'll only confuse things, we're under the impressionthat the Genesis is the top-of-the-line Hyundai The Genesis looks more modern too.

The new Equus reminds of the fussy Toyota Crown and Nissan
    President.

It's basically a Genesis+, the sort of funky Asian executive saloon represented by the Ssangyong Chairman and whatever name they gave the Daewoo rebadge of the Holden Caprice.
