That photo's not making it through my system (that hosting site must also deal up some 'adult' photos). What is it?
  • stephen987stephen987 Member Posts: 1,994
    It should be fixed now.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
I'm not sure if it would be quite heavy duty enough. It's probably so light it might not matter.

    Fiat Idea Adventure, I think?

Mom had Fiats for years (Uno, Palio). My brothers and I got tired of her complaining about rust so we all chipped in and got her a Fit this time around. She's MUCH happier.

I would not be surprised if that Idea Adventure lacked AWD. In Brazil there are lots of "appearance packages" for FWD models that add just a little ground clearance and lots of plastic cladding.

Sorry, not an Idea (compare the roofline), but you're on the right track. This one is actually 4x4.

I believe the orange sports car is a late 1960s Lotus Europa and the blue and white parked car is a circa 1963 Ford Consul Capri. Not sure what the white car next to it is.
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,234
Sorry Lemko, but I think the blue and white car is an Auto Union 1000SP
The white car next to it is a Lancia Fulvia, and the large white car behind the Europa appears to be a Rover P5 - probably a three-litre.
Despite the foreign looking plate on the AutoUnion this looks like it was filmed in London - most of the blurry cars on the left are British - ie the green Mini van, the white Jag and nearest appears to be a BMC 1100/1300.
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
Ah yes, the Europa---affectionately called "The Bread Van" by the Brits----could be had with Renault power, and no one with a shoe size over an 8 is permitted to drive it.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,673
Magnette is correct about the Auto-Union and the Fulvia, Lemko is correct about the Europa.

The clip is most likely of London, it's from The Avengers.

    That works in some browsers.

IE users can right click. Select properties.
Then select URL -- and be sure to drag so that url parts not shown are all selected...

Then paste that in a new window as the address if you don't want to lose your current window with Edmunds showing...

I think I see a Fairmont Futura coupe on the left side near the gas pump, so it must be the second gas shortage.

What is the white car with the sign pole behind it? I can't place that at all.

Here's the link for full picture for anyone who has IE and the right side is cut off...

Looks like a BMW 3.0 Bavaria (E3), very uncommon then and now.
  • kneeache1kneeache1 Member Posts: 1
Starting on the left from the back, looks to be:
    1. Mustang II
    2. Datsun Pickup
    3. Beetle
    4. Celica
    5. Fairmont
And the white one on the side view looks to be a Cutlass, maybe a Malibu.
In the middle a Chevy Caprice
    On the right side:
    1. A BMW
    2. A leMans, or LeMons, as we used to call em.
    3. Camaro (probably 67, no clearance lights that I see)
    4. Nova
    5. Another Caprice
6 and facing the camera another LeMans with the hood cracked open.

    Looks like a BMW 3.0 Bavaria (E3),

    I don't think so, it looks more like a 5 Series E12 (525/528/530)

    Link to E12 photo.

Mabye someone added a 3.0 badge on the left side of the trunklid? That's what I think I'm seeing anyway.

    "In the middle a Chevy Caprice" Close -- it's a '72 Impala.

I had one for a company car at the time - great ride as long as the gas
was paid for by someone else - a constant 14mpg with the standard 350.

    ps: Note the SNOW TIRES!
  • lostwrench1lostwrench1 Member Posts: 1,165
    Ahh, I remember the days.
Getting in the gas line at 5:45am.
Getting the maximum allowed purchase of 8 gallons.
Having to buy gas on certain days only, depending if the license plate had an odd or even number.

I looked at several Bavaria photos, none shows a badge on the left rear.>

Here's an E12 from the rear, it is very similar to the Bavaria>

    Lots of cars....looks like a 53 Chrysler, a 52 or 53 Buick, a 56 Dodge, a 60 Falcon, and maybe a Chrysler Imp pulling out....
and in the bigger picture, maybe a late 30's Chevy Coupe, and a 1960 Chevy. Can't quite make out the other
two cars beyond the Safeway sign, but they both look GM...maybe a 57 Caddy Coupe de Ville and a Buick?

How about a 1954 Delahaye 235MS Chapron Coupe, and the Porsche behind it looks like maybe a '64 904 GTS.

guessing that from the grill. Other than that it is red. And from the mid 60s.

unless it is a chrysler or a buick, in which case it is still red and from the mid 60s

My guess would be a '64 Olds Starfire, with a Caddy, a Benz, and at least 1 Rolls behind it.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,673
    '64 Olds Starfire

Yep! "The Roller looks like a Silver Cloud, approximately contemporaneous w the Olds. The Red Caddy 'vert is an early 50s model.

    Hmm.

LHD, floor shift (way too long), no tach, split windshield, cutaway doors but no suicides, no wood on the dash. Speedo maxes at 140 (km/h? mph?)

Not an MG or Triumph or Healey.
  • lostwrench1lostwrench1 Member Posts: 1,165
The steering wheel center cap hints of Triumph?
  • stephen987stephen987 Member Posts: 1,994
It's definitely not a TR. If it were an 1800/2000 roadster, I think it would have some wood on the dash, and possibly a column shifter.
  • jwilliams2jwilliams2 Member Posts: 910
Must be German, based on the cluster. Possibly a BMW 326 or 327?

Not Citroen, A-M Lagonda, right? The one whose dashboard worked for, like, a month? And whose replacement is now a near-impossible task?

Yep that's a Lagonda dash. I am a little sheepish to admit it...but I have always kind of liked those things, especially early models without the body cladding.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,673
Good eye Jwilliams but it's not a BMW, it's one of perhaps 700 EMW 327/2s
made at the former BMW factory in Eisenach DDR in the early 1950s that replicated the BMW 327s built at that plant prior to WWII. How that came about is a fascinating story more; info is available at Fantasy Junction. I'd post a link but they are having server issues right now.

    Left to right-

1959/60 Thunderbird (AKA Squarebird), 1961 Corvette and 1954 Buick, probably a Skylark based on the wires barely visible.

The Bird is a 59 based on the chrome on the side point. The 60 had three "chevrons" on the rear fenders.

    Right.
    It's a 1959 Thunderbird.

I still don't have the blue car identified. It is a Corvette.

Notice the cars' patriotic theme on the day before elections: red, white, and blue!!!
