Yes - very nice - they are really a bit boy-racer for us - probably go for a 1400 though, it's better on motorways..
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,234
The one I saw (the CM175) was in a museum, I think it was in Brussels but I can't really remember.

She's actually in jail now in lieu of 1.5 million dollars bail (!!!) for allegedly shooting her husband a few months back-- she is aka Victoria Vetri (real name). I thought it appropriate that a mystery car have a real mystery attached to it. :P

geez, back in 60's playmates wore a lot more clothes!

I love the 2 seat AMX, but man, that Mary Kay pink is just plain nasty. And the cheesy hubcaps don't do anything for me either.

the called the more wagony one a "liftback" I think. This one also looks sporty, so I will go with the SR-5.

    I had a 1975 Corolla 2 door sedan, E-5 model. I loved that car.

    Daimler Conquest?
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,673
Sorry guys, it's not a Daimler of any kind.

Here's a clue. As of now there are no cars now being made with this brand name but there are rumblings that the company, which has owned the name for many years, might revive it.

Something about the grille and the suicide door makes me want to say Bristol. Just a WAG.

nah, wrong wheels and grill for a Bristol. It's got to be British and stodgy and from a company that was doomed.

Yeah, I knew it was a WAG. Hmmm, OK, British and stodgy. I know, it's the roadster version of the Humber Super Snipe.

    hubcaps look sort of Riley-ish.

Wrong, wrong wrong. Don't feel bad though. I'm not sure I'd have gotten it and one of m=y favorite Dinky Toys was a minitiature of it, the 1954 Lagonda 3.0.

You mean they were actually making a different car in 1954; how very un-British. ;)

    Some trucks, (Chevys?), a Nova, a ’63 Chevy, ’59 Ford, a '61 and a ’60 Chevy, a Rambler, a ’58 Chevy, and a ’61 Ford?
  • wgraferwgrafer Member Posts: 592
    Good start jwilliams.... Here goes:
2 big Chevy trucks, 1 big Ford truck, '61-'62 Chevy Nova, '62 Chevy, '59 Ford, '61 Chevy, '60 Chevy, '59 Rambler, '58 Chevy, '61 Ford Country Sedan, '61 Chevy Impala, '60 Ford.

I've gotta give you doomed but for a 1954 British car I think that's fairly sleek. A 1960's Morgan looks older IMO.

Yeah but it's heavy -nosed and slab-sided. I mean, look at a '54 Alfa or even a '54 Jaguar. it's not bad, just 5-6 years behind the times.

Red x for me too. Must be the dashes in the URL or something.

Try the link to see it.

lol, nope, forbidden. I can see it fine with a cut and paste. Sort of gives it away though, since the car name is in the URL.
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
Oh must be a peugeot 404 according to the message :P
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
    Lemko's pic does resemble a 404 a bit. :D

I don't like to put something up unless I know what it is but this one's got me stumped>

    image

Caption sez this was taken in Titusville PA, obviously in the early 50s or late 40s. The mystery car has American-looking styling but it's way smaller than the GM 'vert next to it so it must be European..

    Anyone??? :confuse:

    Looks like an Opel Olympia...
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,525
It's an Olympia from around 1950, must have been an odd sight at the time (or any time on this continent)
  • wgraferwgrafer Member Posts: 592
Looks like a '52 Chevrolet Convertible behind the 'Olympia'.

I found this photo of an Opel Olympia ('47-'53), it's identical. It's says 26,000 were built and mostly for the export market.

Wgrafer, the convertible could be any GM from about '48-'52, why do you think it's a Chevy?

The whitewalls suggest a Buick Olds or Caddy IMO.

If you look at the right front wheel, you'll see what consisted of the brake - a rubber pad that pressed against the tread of the tire.
