Absolutely! My GTI was great, from '83 until '96. An surprising number of posters at Edmunds have owned these, along with Sciroccos.

I think the larger grey car beyond the yellow Dyane is an Opel Rekord while the older dark grey car nearer us than the Dyane is a Peugeot 203 - possibly a break which would be a Famille I think. Furthest grey car in middle row is a Renault 16, and is that orange car beyond the Dyane a BMW- perhaps a 1602 or something?
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,234
Koeningsegg - but not sure what model..
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,522
I was thinking there's a BMW back there too.

    Koeningsegg CCR
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,673
Oh yes that's definitely a BMW Neue Klasse two-door (1602/2002), that Inca Orange was popular on US-spec 2002s. It's definitely a late 60's/early 70s color.

Looks to be a Siata (Societa Italiana Auto Trasformazioni Accessori) Berlina. Body by Bertone, probably Fiat powered. Not many made, kind of obscure.

    51 Ford going away.
  • explorerx4explorerx4 Member Posts: 20,807
It looks like there is one American car in the picture. Sky blue with a dark top on the left.

I agree with '51 Ford going away. '47-49 Studebaker parked next to the Fod, and a '49 Chevrolet next to the Siata.

If you're talking about the car I think (it's fender is bisected by the lampost in the foreground) it is most likely a late 50s Simca Vedette>

    57 Simca Vedette Versailles

The resemblance to an early 1950s US Ford comes from the fact that Simca bought Ford of France from FoMoCo in the mid 50s and inherited the Vedette. Ironically Chrysler Corp. then bought Simca in the 1960s (when it was France's biggest carmaker) thus giving Simca links to two of America's big 3.

Ferrari's new mini station wagon! The FF stands for "Ferrari Four" in reference to the fact that all four of the wheels are driven.

When Micheal Polland decided to go hunting for his food in Omnivore's Dilemma, he enlisted an Italian, Angelo, for whom hunting was “not so much pigs as prosciutti”.

Of course they didn't shoot the boar in Italy, but in another well known bastion of hunting, northern Sonoma County. :shades:

No FF though, they used an ATV.

That peculiar top could only belong to the Porsche Boxster Spyder.

No thanks, I'll take mine with the regular folding top.

I think that Ferrari is utterly ridiculous.
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
Yep, and the top is really, er, different. Looks a bit fragile.

Shifty, you always say that you buy the engine and Enzo throws a body in. You could tell your friends that it's a stealth Ferrari that you got to avoid speeding tickets. :D

    Dodge Journey Fiat Freemont.

Badge job for Europe set to debut in Geneva.

At least it'll get a diesel engine.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,673
I can think of several MoPar designs that would be greatly improved by putting in one of Fiat's fuel-sipping diesels. If they'd put one in a Wrangler I might have to buy one.

It would seem to make sense in a Wrangler, for instance.

The green car heading toward the viewer appears to be a 1954 DeSoto. The red car going away may be a 1950 Pontiac. The blue car parked on the left side of the screen is a 1951-52 Buick. The car behind the DeSoto looks like a 1949 Buick. The parked taxi on the cross street down the hill could be a 1949-50 Plymouth. The parked cars on the right side of the screen: can just about make out the taillight of a 1949 Mercury. There may also be a 1947 Studebaker in the mix. Down the street may be a 1949-50 Chevrolet fastback and the white car parked at an angle on the other side may be a 1949-50 Ford.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,673
I'm pretty sure that the red Pontiac going away on the right is a '53-'54

The green DeSoto is a '53, not a '54. And the red Pontiac looks like a '53 to me. There's also a '49-'50 Lincoln parked on the right (visible only if you expand the pic).
  • jwilliams2jwilliams2 Member Posts: 910
Yep, I agree. A '53 DeSoto. Was my first car, even the color is the same. The 54's had the parking lights in the grill as I recall.

Anyone know where it might have been taken? My first thought was Santa Monica but the pier there looks much larger. It sure looks like somewhere in So Cal.

I guess they are feeling the pressure of BMW selling X6's and Porsche selling Panamera's.

Yeah but Ferrari pre-sells every car they make pretty much.

Put a Fiat badge on it if you want the SUV market.

Fiat 500c - I think the estate version of the late Topolino like this is called the Belvedere ?

I keep my MG Magnette in a lock-up garage in a block round the corner from our house, and the guy with the next garage has a two-door car version of this car - his one is I think a 1952, but they made them up to about 1954, possibly later with the estate. Also I have a 1/43rd scale model of this exact car, although without the woody bits.
