    That should buff right out.....

Looks to be (or was) about a 1956 Mercedes 220S convertible A ...or maybe a 220SE, 1958 or so? I have trouble telling these apart, especially when they're smashed up.

Again, this should buff right out.

Is it a Jaguar Mark 9? Maybe around 1960???
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,672
    You're pretty close Shifty; it was a 1961 Mercedes-Benz 220SE.

It's hard to tell but it's definitely a big Jag Saloon from the 50s or 60s, anything from a Mk. VII to Mk. IX.

I'm not sure myself because the person selling it does not tell us what make model it is.

    here's another shot of it:
    image

Probably a Mark IX. If it was, that actually would be worth the $800 he's asking because you can use some of the parts for the Jaguar XK150 roadster---especially the disk brakes, and the engine.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,510
What happened? Looks like it rolled off a truck. Sad.

I think 1961 would only be true if the car was registered late, the W111 cars were out by then.

I was going to post that the engine looked more like a GM engine than a Ford, but i see that was corrected after someone questioned what the engine is.
We do agree that it is a convertible. right? Everything other than that is on the table.

I'm actually impressed - they combined the worst of the 50s, 60s and 70s in just one automobile! LOL

Sometimes it takes just as much genius to do something completely wrong as completely right ! :P Think of all the bad decisions that had to be made, and all the work involved in executing them in such a way as to create random design chaos.

Did you see the dashboard layout? I've never seen anything that awful in all my years....
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
It must have taken quite an effort to get that many things wrong in one car! :D

I am looking for a burglary suspect that broke my car window and stole my wallet with my all my IDs, important documents, cash as well as my baby’s stuff.

We saw the guys who did it. They were driving a black four door sedan. The car size and shape look like a 1995 Honda Civic or Hyundai Accent in at least 6-10 years old, but from the back of the car, there is no logo of what the maker or model of the car except a key hole to open the trunk.

This is a small town, I am trying to get the model of the car and see if that will help the police to catch them with DMV record. They used my credit card to fill out gas in the gas station as well as made other big purchase. They were caught on the surveillance camera, but the license plate was not recognizable from camera.

I need some help from auto experts who might know what year or model, maker of the car might be?

    Thanks a lot.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,510
If you can get a pic from the surveillance camera, we can probably help
  • texasestexases Member Posts: 11,133
Sounds like a Civic or Accent, they probably just took off the logos/labels. Have you googled each car and looked at pictures? That might help you narrow it down. Without additional information there's not much we can do.

There are two different files with the same scene but different file format. Please see the files at: http://humboldtmedicalspecialists.com/video/

The gas pump is on the left side, and the license plate is over low a the bumper instead of the back of the trunk.

    Thanks a lot again

It's the car parked at the pump, not the one that drives by, right?

I am certain the car parked at the pump is a 1994-98 Geo Prizm or maybe a Toyota Corolla (they are the same car). Both cars also had a license plate in the bumper.
  • explorerx4explorerx4 Member Posts: 20,799
Fin, I think you are right. The front of the car reminded me of an early Altima, but the back didn't fit.
Check out the hippy chick who spits on the ground while walking towards the camera. She and some guy definitely have some interaction with the people in the car in question.
Maybe shaneca had more than one credit card, so they are each using one.

The front bumper looked like a corrolla (from Video), the back park looked like Prizm, only has a key hold, no silver panel or reflection bar between two tail lights (I had a glimpse of it).

Can these two cars share all the parts including front bumper and trunk? I mean it is an old car, could have a lot work done before.
  • shanecashaneca Member Posts: 11
because we were ready to go on the trail and they came down to the trail head One of us had a very good look of both of them and he could recognize them easily. However, the police has not responsed our request for a facial composite sketch. The gas station manager does not know the chick. We know what they look like, with a plate number would be ideal to find them out. They also used other credit card in clothing, shoes and sunglass stores. Don't know if the cops can find any leads at those store or they ever will.

What a great valentine day for those suckers.

    Thanks
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
Based on the hubcaps I'm going to say a Corolla.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,510
I was thinking they reminded me of Prizm LSi wheels, but after 15 years, who knows what has been changed. Certain the car is a 93-98 era Corolla or Prizm anyway.
  • shanecashaneca Member Posts: 11
I upload two photos of the back of a Prizm and Corrola with my text. Thanks again.

    I'm seein' this wheel....maybe I'm wrong?
    image
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,510
I'm seeing a 5 spoke wheel in the video that doesn't look like a hubcap type. But I looked up the LSi wheel, and it's not the same either...could be a special or aftermarket item too. Either way, it has to be one of two almost identical cars.
  • shanecashaneca Member Posts: 11
I agreem. I saw the 5 spoke wheel from the surveillance video as well. It is very likely a aftermarket item. I will upload another video once I get it. Thank you everyone for your information. Have a good night

OK, I captured images from the video, and put them all together for you:

    https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/GUL53XJC4lo2RTi7NnSzXQ?feat=directlink

It shows the car in profile, with the door open, driving away, and two images of the hippie girl coming and going.

    Hopefully this helps out.

I'm also torn between Prizm and Corolla, too hard to tell from the grainy images. I was able to see the driver's side of the car but it's far so it seemed pointless to capture that image.

Hopefully this helps in some way.

93 Corolla, to compare, could be a match, I see nothing to mis-match is at least:

    http://www.canadiandriver.com/articles/jc/images/96corolla_dx_1.jpg

    But with these wheels:

    http://www.speedzonemotorsports.com/images/T/corolla%2093-97%20rear%20roof%20vis- or.jpg

Here's a 93 Geo Prizm with 5 spoke hub caps:

    http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/23/93-97_Geo_Prizm.jpg

To be honest the overall shape is more rounded off, so I think the one in the photo is a Corolla. Hard to be sure with the poor image quality of the camera, though, so I would not rule it out.

Good luck, man, I hope they nail them.

    Olds 4-4-2, mid 60's?
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,672
Yep, it's the new Lamborghini Aventador which replaces the Murcielago. That's not peeling paint but tape applied to either protect the paint or disguise the features of the test mule.
