good god is that color awful, lol :P

I guess I'd have to guess it's special AMC since you posted it, so maybe it's a rare SC/360?

Well it is an AMC but not one that was ever sold in the USA, it's a 1982 Studebaker Rambler American from Mexico.

Hmmm, I thought Studebaker went under in the mid-sixties... :confuse:

    Where'd everybody go?

Bug, Ford Falcons for the two besides the Bug. 1965?

That pic struck me because those aren't the types of cars that were rented out back in that day. VW Bugs were ubiquitous in the mid 60s but rentals were almost always equipped with A/T and air and they didn't make the VeeDub with either. Compacts weren't generally rented either but this outfit's got Falcons front and center where you'd usually see Galaxies or Fairlanes. I can't figure out what's on the right, is the dark car an Opel Kadette or a Dodge Dart? It's too square for a Falcon.

The grilles indicate that the Falcons are '65s.

See enlarged version for more cars on right of picture.

Morse was a Ford dealer so those cars may have just been parked at the front of the lot. The rentals may have been in back.
  • tmarttmart Member Posts: 2,403
In the expanded pic is a 59 Ranchero and a 57 Fairlane to it's left.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,510
The dark car looks like a really lowline Chevy II to me.

It sure looks like a Ford Explorer to me but I'm guessing you have something up your sleeve and it's a rebadge or something.

    Nope, not an Explorer.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,510
    Mazda Navajo?
  • lemkolemko Member Posts: 15,261
    Correct! This one's a 1993 model.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
I remember Mazda dealers were crying for the 4 door model but Ford never gave it to them.

No wonder they eventually parted ways.

The pretty blue coupe must be a DB-4 Zagato (c. 1963) and the little hatchback is called a Cygnet.

Triumph Dolomite, a supposedly nifty sport sedan of the 1970s, it was not sold here. Magnette can tell us from the plate what year and which shire it was sold in..

I think N suffix is ~1974, but I don't know British location codes.
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
Magnette was having extreme login problems last month and I don't think he's got it straightened out yet. Maybe he'll show back up via Facebook or something.

Isn't it actually a triumph dolomite sprint?

Pretty exotic for the day (at least coming from BMC). 2 liter, DOHC engine, independent rear end.

I still remember when I was about 12 going to bermuda with my family, and buying a british car rag there (at the time, almost all the cars/trucks were british on the island), and the dolomite was in that issue.

Correct, it is indeed a Triumph Dolemite. Too bad Triumph was under the umbrella of British-Leyland at the time. Things only got worse with B-L as time went on.

An interesting mix of cars in this shot from different countries and decades>

Other than the AMC Hornet, I've no idea what those other cars are.

However, the still is from the Bond movie The Man With the Golden Gun and the scene above was shot in Thailand, I believe.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,510
I'll be nice and only take the mid 50s Ford Zodiac in the middle.

Is that from a James Bond movie? Seems familiar somehow.

Shots are from The Man With the Golden Gun and the yellow car is a '56 Ford Zodiac.

Here's a larger version which reveals several more vehicles.

Michaell is correct, MWTGG was shot in Thailand in 1974 and the red car is an AMC Hornet. AMC had a obviously had a deal w the producers; several
    AMC products were featured.>

The dark greenish-gray car is a 1956 Plymouth - most likely a lowline Plaza.
  • tmarttmart Member Posts: 2,403
    Matador that goes barrel rolling.

Yup, exactly. Can anyone make out the red car on right and the easily identifiable blue fender on the left in the enlarged version?

The blue fender on the left belongs to a '65 Pontiac Bonneville.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,510
Red car looks like an early Cortina
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,672
Wgrafer is right about the '65 Bonnie although some @ IMCDB think it's a Laurentian (a Canadian car in Thailand?).

Cortina is a good guess but it looks smaller than that. IMCDB sez it's a Triumph 1300 (little brother of the aforementioned Dolomite).

English, yes, but nothing Vette-derived inside. And last of a longggg line.

Hint - Viper V10 under the hood.

Bristol, either a Fighter, Fighter S, or Fighter T. The T had over 1000 hp as I recall.
  • texasestexases Member Posts: 11,133
You are correct, sir! Yep, 1000+ hp for the turbo Viper engine in the Fighter T.

End of the line for Bristol, too bad, they had a long history of interesting cars :(
