As suggested a Renault Alpine GTA. I met a guy who had owned a succession of the A310, GTA and A610, raving about them. On further enquiry, I realised that he was a Renault dealer who had them wished upon him as excess stock and had to drive them.
Certainly looked good new and went super quick; not as long lived as a Porsche though.
I was going to comment and then thought I'd get criticized for lack of taste. But to my eye, the colors just don't look tasteful to me. I'm happier with the dash on my Buick.
That dash looks like something somebody created in a high school shop class. The current Rolls-Royces are quite ugly. They look more like rejected Peterbilt designs rather than the elegant Rolls-Royces of yore.
On the other hand, you have to distinguish between the car per se, and the paint job. Here is John Lennon's Phantom V, and I would submit that laughter would also ensue from an invitation to ride in it.
I have to admit I was never much of a Rolls fan...even the classically styled 50s and 60s cars were ponderous, clumsy and unreliable to a fault. Rolls rested on its 20s and 30s laurels well into the 1990s.
But I wouldn't mind sitting in one for the smell and gorgeous woodwork.
That dash DOES look like a glue-on. It's way too thick.
As with most things from the 1960s you had to be there, man!
Oh, I was. But as Robin Williams said, "If you remember the '60s you weren't really there". But I sure remember that Rolls, it pushed my 'wrong' button even then. I also remember Goldie Hawn on 'Laugh-In'. That was a whole different button, though.

Yup, it's a 1970 Siata Spring based on a Fiat 850 chassis and mechanicals. It was the unfortunate last product of a company that built some very sexy sports and race cars>
The red car is not a Siata Spring, it's a mid 50s Siata 208S with a Pininfarina body and a Fiat 8V in front. It was meant to illustrate that Siata once built fantastic cars that were nothing like the dopey (rear-engined) Siata Spring.
bmw 2000C or CS ... not sure if any styling differences between the two.
Yep it' a BMW 2000CS (1965-69) I've always thought it interesting that the E9 Bimmers looked like a pastiche of 60-64 Corvair and '65-'69 Corvair styling but they were introduced the same year that the 2nd gen 'Vair came out. Did BMW have a mole in GM Styling?
The differences between the 2000C and 2000CS were all under the hood AFAIK (One carb vs. two).
The mention of the similarity to the Corvair sent me searching for the designer. I knew that the assembler of the BMW2000c/cs was Karmann and had presumed some commonality to the Karmann Ghia.
However, it appears to be all the work of Wilhelm Hofmeister, BMW's design chief from 1955 to 1970. His claim fame is the little kink at the base of the C pillar of BMWs to this day. The Hofmeister kink has been copied by others.
It is nowhere near as pretty as the subsequent 2800CS (E9)
I just had to post that Spring photo to convince the younger generation here that some factory actually built and marketed such a thing. I didn't want them to think we "made this up".

It is just me or is that a super ugly dash and steering wheel? I guess when you're riding in the back seat it doesn't much matter.

Only if MG's were rear engined.
Looks like one of those odd Italian beach cars. Might be Fiat 500 based
Are those wire wheels?
Tail light assembly looks about 1970-75. Spare wheel assembly clearly meant to have something hanging off it!

True the changes made to the grille for the 2800 and 3.0CS set the pattern for BMW styling for many years.
Excepting the 507 the E9s may have been the best looking Bimmers ever.
