320i is the obvious answer. And certainly the true essence of the old BMW.

They must be dirt cheap these days if you can find a sound one, some basic mods and updates and could have quite the fun toy.

I'm with you all the way around. With a set of Koni's and a few off the shelf engine tweaks, my understanding is that these can be quite fun little rides...

The 320 was in many ways a much improved car over the 2002, but it was built on the cheap and priced much too high for what you got.

Yup, that's a 1979 BMW 320i/E21--the good looking successor to the fabled 2002. I agree with all of the comments above. It was overpriced but pretty good-looking and could be tweaked to give respectable performance.

You will sometimes find 2002s with 320i engines and transmissions. Done right, it's a nice conversion.

It's a '59 Ford but they brought in the Galaxie mid year so there's always confusion as to nomenclature. Some might call it a Fairlane 500 Galaxie and some might call it a Galaxie Sunliner. Depends on production date.
  • texasestexases Member Posts: 11,125
So THAT's why when I googled '59 Ford Convertible I couldn't tell the 'different' models apart!

Exactly my thoughts... not a lot of love for the E21, but I thought they were great... and the best looking 3-series.

Poked around at listings. Pretty nice looking one in CA, lots of work done (engine rebuild) for not all that much. Should not be too hard to do some underneath upgrades.

A cheaper one with some needs (probably still overpriced) if you wanted to do some more extensive mods. And don't mind a little tin worm!

1985-ish Supra. I liked the GT, with the wheel flares, especially in black:

I wonder how many of those Canuckistanian Mercurys survive in that bodystyle. Has to be a rare bird in a harsh climate.

I like the wedge Supras too.

You're not far off, I think the Yugo was based on the Fiat 127.

Legos might not be less durable.

The Yugo GV was partly based on the FWD Fiat 127and 128. It had little in common w the Fiat 126, a rear-engined update of the Fiat 500/600.

is it an eliminator? If so, probably quite a bit.

Hm, Wiki says the Eliminator arrived with the '69 model year.

This one is "rare" because it has the 428 Cobra Jet Ram Air and a manual transmission. One of three made.

    Auction estimate is $120,000 - $160,000.

    G'day

I think something like an Autobianchi.

While I am not sure what it is, I can tell you what it sounds like. The Fiat 500 engine and transmission had a unique noise with acceleration in first gear followed by a lengthy pause while the driver found second, followed by the resumption of the acceleration noise - lengthy pause then...

    Cheers

  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670

63 Falcon convertible. If we could see the side of the front fender we could see if it is a 63.5 Sprint.

I'll grab the 63 Falcon convertible.
I wish we could see the side of the front fender to see if it is a 63.5 Sprint.

I'll take the '64 Pontiac. I think I see a GTO emblem on the trunk lid, but I may be wrong, in which case it is a Tempest.

Given the performance cars all over that pier, I'd say there's a pretty good chance it's a Sprint (very rare that year.)

Correct, the hood scoops make it a GTO.
