Was it something on the order of a 350/350 with a quad carb and close ratio Borg-Warner (Muncie) 4 on the floor?

You'd most likely see a 327 in a rig like that, no 350 til around 1968 IIRC.

I was never able to find an affordable one when I was 16.

College buddy had one. I guess I can't remember the motor size-but 350 hp seems to stick. I guess too many brain cells succumbed to the Budweiser virus in those early days.

You can usually tell a '68 Anything, because (pursuant to new federal standards that year): 1) first year for side marker lights, and they were usually tiny; 2) generally, still no head restraints (they appeared on the '69s); and 3) first year the parking lights illuminated with the headlights.

I have a bone to pick with this particular Dodge. Its wheel covers are from a Pontiac. Our '70 Catalina Safari had them, and I'll bet they say "Pontiac Motor Division."

I think you're right, they do look like the PMD covers.

To me that looks like it's trying very hard to be exotic-looking, but doesn't quite hit the spot. I think the C-pillar really kills the design.

It was Toyo's first "sports car" beating the 2000GT to market by about a year IIRC and it was powered by a boxer twin of 800cc capacity.
It's a '67 Toyota Sports 800, a pioneer of what came to be known as the Targa roof.

Interesting that you should ask that...I have no idea how that would work..I just recall..shoot..I just had a revelation.. it was the stop lights that worked off the master cylinder...I recall realizing this when changing the cylinder and the brake lights working again...My brain is not working too well..It was a long time ago..Sorry bro..Got ya thinking though, huh..Hehe Jack

Please check the size of images before adding them to your posts. If the pic is wider than 500 pixels, please just type the URL in your post so the image can be viewed in a new window. The wider images are forcing the margin of the message area out under the right side video bar.

Posting the links instead of adding the lager pic IN the posts helps us avoid this issue.

    Thanks!

Were the Thunderbird of that era and the Marks based on the same chassis? You commented they're cousins; I can't recall if they were related or not. The Marks certainly were longer but it's easy to lengthen a car especially with that extra long front on that thing.

It's a 1947 Talbot-Lago T26 Cabriolet. If I told you that it was French you'd say it was too good-looking and too conventional to be French but in the half decade after World War Two French coachbuilders consistently came up with beautiful designs that were among the best in the world.

1955 Plymouth, 6 cylinder. The V8 had a V8 symbol on that center portion of the grill bar where the black stripes are. Teacher had one same color at school with the V8 symbol. The tail fins were painfully understated. The next year they went UP and were flamboyant, IIRC

Yeah, it's a '55 Plymouth Belvedere...But the rear end looks odd to me..What size was that first v-8 they put in this car?
I don't think it was the hemi that they'd had in the Chrysler for a few years..I believe it was the forerunner of the 318; an engine that lived in infamy for many years..I'm thinking 271 c.i. for some reason.
Seems like 1955 was the year of the V-8.. Jack

Ah Packards... growing up in the early 60's in South Dakota I stripped blue grass for an old guy who collected early fifties Packards. He'd give about four or five teen agers working for him Packards to drive back and forth to the fields. Mine looked just about like that one.

Yes, the T-birds and Marks were very similar cars for a few years around this time..One unusual feature was the horn..There was a soft piece of plastic affixed to the wheel, all around it a thin long strip that, when squeezed, sounded the horn..Kinda nifty. These cars were large loads...
