    It's a V12. that help?

My WAG is a 1967 275 California. Only because I watched a lot of episodes of CCC.

Dunno offhand what CCC is :(

AFAIK there was never a Ferrari 275 California officially although the 275 GTS replaced the 250 California to which it bore a resemblance so many may have called it a "275 California" since it was Ferrari's first production roadster since the California which ceased production (1962).

About 200 were made with the Pininfarina bodies styled by an American, Tom Tjaarda in the employ of Pinifarina who was later the designer of the Fiat Spider. Tjaarda also did the Corvette Rondine which supposedly was considered by GM for the Corvette C3 ('63 Stingray).

The Rondine's rear styling shaped the rears of the Ferrari and Fiat Spiders (in less extreme forms)>

What really gets things confusing is that there was yet another 275 roadster. It was not a PF design being basically Scaglietti built 275 GT/B4 with the roof removed and it was known as the 275 GT/ B N.A.R.T. Spider. Like the earlier 275 GTS it was mainly sold in the American market.

Looks like it's a Devin, but they had front mounted engines, like the Jaguar 6 and Chevy 350.

It's a Devin C, 1962 model. which used the basic body of the Devin D and a Corvair engine rather than the D's VW or Porsche engine. Some sources guess that about 60 were made. Quite a few Devin bodies were used to build racing specials and they did quite well.

Bill Devin must have been a clever guy. He is credited as the first person to design and build a timing gear system using a toothed belt.--apparently all attached to a panhard engine using a Norton motorcycle cylinder head.

That's what I get for reading the first half of the wiki page. Lots of nice looking Devins with V8s and side pipes...

Ja, Kapitans. Interesting I believe these are miscaptioned in the Bloomberg site I took them from>

    https://bloomberg.com/news/features/2017-03-06/gm-sale-of-opel-vauxhall-to-peugeot-ends-years-of-losses

The first at the upper left is correctly labelled as a first gen car and the second to its right as a '53. The bottom row is confusing, B-'berg calls the b&w a '64 (Kapitan A) in Opel lingo and the blue car a 1970 model. According to Wikipedia they're reversed

In any case I find the '53 odd in that it doesn't look like a Chevy, it reminds me a lot of a Plymouth or Desoto from that year.

    '53 Chevy>

    '53 Opel>

    '53 Desoto>

I cheated a little on the Desoto, it's a '53 Desoto Diplomat, and export model sold in Sweden but you can see how it looks more like the Opel than the Chevy does.

It's a Catalina all right but it's a particular model designed to put it on the same level as a Grand Prix or Riviera, a 1965 Pontiac 2+2 Sport Coupe. Unlike the average Catalina the 2+2 came with bucket seats, a tach and other sporty goodies. Interestingly the one in this brochure art does not wear the Rallye wheels that can be found on nearly every restored sporty Poncho of that era. The red badge on the forward fender is for the 421 CID Super Duty V8 that won such renown on the drag tracks of the 60s

Good question, IIRC the 2+2 had fewer luxo-options than the GP, making it a little lighter ergo faster. Or maybe they just wanted to steal another model name from Ferrari :D

Could be, or it's a Jeep, hard to say.

Chevies galore! Closest to camera on right, 1960 Impala sedan/lt green, 1965 Impala sedan just behind it (white), '55 or '56 sedan/white over blue next to Checker, 1960s pickup/white, directly behind it a mid-60s Nova (?) and behind that a '55 sedan/white over red.

Parked on left: next to Rambler, '57 Chevy behind blue Ford '56 Bel Air sedan/white green, behind that a '59/black and behind that a '62/red.

I think I got 'em all.

I thought I saw a US Postal Service truck, under the traffic light, driving away. But the US Postal Service did not exist prior to 1970.

I'm guessing it was taken after October 28, 1965.

There surely would be a newer car on the road than the '65 Chev if it were taken later.

Porsche 914. Nasty bumper pimples, so 1975?

I would love to have this one. With first stop, a body shop to put on euro bumpers.

Not fast at all, but sharp handlers. Too new to be a 914/6. These were not well received in their debut, mostly because of the VW engine. The 2.0L is the one you want. These cars are still competitive in autocross.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,671
    It's a 1973 Porsche 914/2.0L sold in some markets as a Volkswagen-Porsche IIRC.

    That's a '73? With those bumpers? I figured it was at least a '74.

I've heard about a popular engine transplant for those, using a Subaru motor.

Apparently, you can put the radiator inside the "hellhole" with the engine, and it stays cool enough?

Or, you could go with the Chevy 350. I hear that's fast...
