The white car is an Alfa Romeo Alfetta - not sure of the model but it is one of the facelifted ones from the early 80s when they repositioned the side turn indicators behind the front wheel arch and adopted the black trim along the doors etc.

That trip down TV memory lane lost me at the first turn - out of all that lot I think I got Lucy and Lassie - not much else... We seemed to have had loads American TV back in the 60s when I was a kid but only two channels to watch it on (BBC & ITV) until the launch of BBC2 in about 1965. We only got a fourth channel - Channel 4 (imaginatively enough) in the early 80s....

There wasn't enough airtime to watch it all I suppose.

Some of your shows which I very much enjoyed watching here in Connecticut......

    Doctor in the House
    Are You Being Served?
    Keeping Up Appearances

    They were all very funny.

The Alfetta, in "Sports Sedan" trim, was Cameron's car in Ferris Bueller's Day Off:

Methinks you know a lot more about the nuances of the these than most of us do. Suffice it to say it's an Alfetta Berlina, I think the prettiest of Alfas many four doors
though I've always preferred the bulldog tough looks of the 1960s Giulias.

Yes Alfettas were great cars marred by lousy corrosion protection and brittle electrics - at that was even here in the land of Lucas aka the Prince of Darkness....

I saw an early 80s Alfetta about two years ago parked in a trendy bit of London and went over to have a look at it - we were at a bar and drinking on the pavement - turned out the car belonged to the Italian owner of a restaurant opposite and he showed us his car was in such good condition with no rust which must be some sort of miracle.

Hardly ever see them now in daily use - that was the last time I can recall although they turn up at car shows sometimes.

That's a Daimler 250 V8. Not sure of the year but probably late 1960s, as it doesn't have the "fatso" bumpers of the earlier model. So I guess we'd have to call it a re-badged Jaguar 240 in that case, not a re-badged Mark II. The engine is a Daimler "hemi" V8 and I think the last Daimler ever to have its own engine.

Later Daimlers, called Sovereign, were based on the Jaguar XJ6.

The resemblance is quite strong, the Merc is a natural progression from the Ford/ Merc styling of '53/'54 but the Hornet Hollywood has little to do with the late art deco/streamline styling of the Step-down Hudsons. I know very little about the '53/'54 Hudson Hollywood coupe but I gather that underneath that Ford-ish body it's a Step-down.

There was another Hudson of the period that looked like contemporary Fords and Mercs>

I'm guessing there's a simple explanation, let's say a stylist leaving FoMoCo to work for Hudson Motors.

Oh, its fine, thanks. Not a ton of hours yet, but enough money. I am really enjoying not having much responsibility nor people reporting to me. I do what they need when they need it and that's the end of it.

I can handle going to the city once a week. It is a good 4.5 hrs roundtrip but doesn't feel quite that long. One way, its 35 mins by car, 50 mins by train, 10 mins subway, and the rest on foot.

The Hudson Jet did look like a somewhat shrunken 52-54 Ford. Maybe a bit of liposuction too in order to wrap the sheet metal skin tighter. ;)

I used to go every year but have missed many in recent years. The last one I attended was 2010, I believe, with my 4-yr-old and 3-mo-old in tow ... which probably explains why it was my last. ;)

    1972 Opel GT.

Yup, the German Corvette, deliberately styled to resemble the Corvette C3, it debuted the same year under the tutelage of Bob Lutz and stayed in production until 1973. New bumper height regs for '74 made it impractical to keep making.

1991 Mitsubishi GT. Production ran from 1991 to 1999. Chrysler sold the car as the Dodge Stealth from 1991 to 1996. The design was a collaborative effort between Chrysler and its Japanese partner, Mitsubishi Motors.

In Japan the car was sold as the Mitsubishi GTO.
