Magnette got it, R100, 1972 - predecessor to the RX badged cars. Slightly modified.

    Here's another view:

Probably enough to be filed under "incredibly rare".

Here's the original car. It was also known as the "Familia Presto Rotary"

Great photo of an early (late 40/early 50s) "step down" Hudson. I couldn't say which model (Commodore/Pacemaker/Hornet etc.)

I can't stop laughing. I didn't think anything was uglier than an Austin Atlantic, but here it is...whatever it is...

Hard to get a sense of size, but I wonder if it would fit in the back of the Suburban across the street.

Has a weird early postwar Euro vibe with that grille, but the house in the background is very middle American.

Ah - this is a Panhard (Dyna) Junior - really quite an advanced car with good performance from a twin carb flat twin 845cc engine with FWD and they even fitted a supercharger to some of them.

Weighed nothing, too so quite efficient in its day - which was the early 50's...

Yup, that is indeed a 1952 Panhard Dyna Junior cabrio. The Dyna came in various forms including sedan , coupe and wagon. Panhard was a pioneer French auto maker (as Panhard et Levassor) starting in 1891 that eventually came under control of Citroen thence PSA. It still exists as a division of Renault trucks as a maker of light military vehicles.

Early 60's Singer Gazelle (it says so right on it). This was a badge-engineered version of the Rootes Group's popular Hillman Minx which sold pretty well here but I don't think the Singer version was ever sold in the US market. Perhaps Your LHD Gazelle is a CDM version.

That's correct Fin. Here in the Museum of Rightfully Forgotten Mediocre Cars we still have Mirdadas. There's one in my nabe.

When I was a kid, a friend's mother had a white Mirada CMX with T-tops - I thought it was a pretty cool car.

people around the corner from me have a Mirada sitting on the side yard. Along with some other similar vintage Mopar.

The difference is that Miradas and Luminas don't just sit here in the MORFC, they're driven and most appear to be in decent driver shape.

A 49 or 50 Ford Club Coupe. I always found it interesting back in that era that many 2 door sedans came in a regular sedan and then an abbreviated looking club or business coupe.
  • ab348ab348 Member Posts: 20,319
    Nope. It's not a Ford.

Going by the plate, I will guess it is a Meteor, like a shoebox Ford with a Mercury style grille, as for some reason Canada needed a unique model line.
  • berriberri Member Posts: 10,165
I never understood the Detroit philosophy back then on Canadian models. Seemed like they just tacked on or mixed stuff from various models and frequently it didn't seem to enhance the vehicle.
  • texasestexases Member Posts: 11,125
For Ford, it goes deeper. At that time Ford of Canada was an separate company from Ford in the U.S., but with similar ownership. So there was some additional separation.
  • ab348ab348 Member Posts: 20,319
Correct, here's the front pic that would have given away the answer, though the emblem on the trunk lid is also a clue. I took this pic at a show a couple of years ago and it is the only one of these of this vintage I have ever seen around here.

Yes, I was afraid this one would bring everything to a halt, it's a Siata 208 8V with a body from an obscure coachbuilder, Baldo (not even listed on coachbuild.com!)

This exact car was featured wearing red paint on Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee with Jerry Seinfeld and Steve Martin. it suffered a mechanical breakdown in that episode forcing the comics to borrow another car.

The same car later suffered accident damage on another occasion and was completely restored and repainted it's original blue and went on to win a prize at the Amelia island Concours.

Siata 208s were usually seen with open Spider bodywork from Bertone. Steve McQueen owned this one>

Chrysler Córdoba. With rich Corinthian leather I assume.

I forget the years on these so will guess 1978

Ah, the BMW I love to hate -- 1M. That said, I wouldn't mind driving one everyday as long as I didn't have to look at it.

    What a silly name, too.

Man, you guys, I just don't get it I guess. The front end is stylistically......chaotic would be the word I'd use. Subjectively speaking of course, I like car designs to be harmonious, not having one part of the car fighting the other. I think the 1M is something of a mess. The roof line has nothing to do with the rest of the car. It really looks home-made to my eyes--something you'd build out of a catalog on eBay.
