It seems like the best lease rate (residual) is for an unlimited sport (vs. Sahara). Is this always the case? Also, is now a good time to lease an unlimited sport? Or should I wait? I live in Upstate NY. Any advice would be appreciated!! I think we are finally ready to go from a minivan to a jeep unlimited!! The 3 boys are so excited (3 year old twins and a 6 year old)...and Mommy is too!!!

Wrangler Unlimiteds will always be expensive to lease, so timing on your part won't really matter that much.

Generally, lower trims have better residuals. I'm not fluent on the Jeep trim levels to understand the difference, but if you can option a Sport to be roughly equivalent to the Sahara, you'll end up with a better lease payment due to the higher residual.

Standard MF and 70% residual

Aftermarkets full cost usually falls to your bottom line on a lease, which makes them very expensive, as you are paying full price for the add-ons, but only renting them for 36 months.

If they want extra for that unit with the add-ons, don't lease it.

We don't have the Ally programs to check the numbers, but yes, that residual is very high. Of course, that makes for a low lease payment, relative to MSRP.

Of course, with a 77% residual, you won't want to even think about buying it out at lease end.

42/10 48/10 residuals:
FRD / BB / SPT - 68% / 66%
SAH / SM - 61% / 59%

There are no published 60 month residuals.

Be advised that with a 42 or 48 month term, there may be consumables you will be responsible for - brakes and tires, for example.

It's the Sport S, 10,000 miles a year.

The Chrysler capital numbers do not have a 51 month term; this is likely to be sourced through a third party bank such as Ally or US Bank. We do not have their numbers to confirm MF or residual.

But, the $4200 in negative equity will add about $80-85/mo to the base payment.

Can you hold off and try to whittle down that negative equity number?
