Picking up a Ruby Red/Cashmier with navigation tomorrow. No one in CA has any red ones in stock and I thought I'd have to wait another month or longer, but someone didn't show up for one that they had reserved! I'd like to post pics if someone can tell me where you can host them for free??

***I'd like to post pics if someone can tell me where you can host them for free??***

    Go here: http://www.carspace.com/

It's simple to upload pics you take with any digital camera.

I have to same color (UL) with a black interior.

    You're going to love it!

And you are right. From what I've heard, the ruby is very, very difficult to get ahold of.

Psychdoc is right, your CarSpace page is the place to do it. The easiest way to get to your personal page is click on the My CarSpace link at the top left of this page. Enjoy!

I bought my full-up ES350 on May 24th and just past the 5000 mile mark. The past two weeks I drove from Florida to Vermont and back for a 3000 mile adventure. The car averaged 30.4 MPG on mostly premium fuel, I had two tanks on mid-grade 89 octane (noticed no difference). The car performed flawlessly. No wind noise, no water leaks.

I did learn that the navigation system does not always pick the best route. Be careful in strange places and double check. I suggest expanding the selected route to make sure the roads are a wise choice.

I also learned how to disable the radar feature and return to normal cruise control. The manual is misleading. After turning on the cruise control you then disable the radar by pushing back on the lever. This must be done before you engage cruise lock. You then get a normal display and 1 MPH increment.

A new discussion has been created to talk about ES 350 Audio (iPod, MP3, etc.) related things. Some recent posts have been moved there.

Your car sounds gorgeous! I've been imagining the Lexus in my head just the way you bought it...hopefully it will come to fruition by the end of the year. Can you elaborate on your pricing/options, specifically what is a "black kit" and what type of rims you got? Better still, can you post/email any pix? I'd love to see it! :P

How much is everyone paying for Tint and what % are you doing?
I guess it matters what state you live in so please mention.

I can't get the homelink to work with my apartment gate. The owners manual has a separate procedure for gates, but it doesn't work. Anyone have any ideas?????

won't work on my communities gate either. I contacted both homelink and the gate manufacturer... The gate uses a propritery signal. :-(

Has anyone had any experience with a car buying service on purchasing a new Lexus ES350? I understand there are independent services that charge approx. 250.00 and promise to save you thousands, or certainly save you more than you could yourself, even if you did your homework and come prepared. I live in an area where within 100 miles I could shop four different Lexus dealers to hopefully get them to compete for my business. What do you think? Thanks for your advice.

I recently read in the August '06 issue of Automobile mag that all recent model cars can run up to ten percent ethanol with no trouble so I would think that 15% would probably work. Just beware of E85 which is mostly alcohol and requires fuel system and computer modifications.
You might want to check with Lexus to be sure. Hope this helps.

Generally speaking, the savvy car-buyers around here believe that we can do better on our own as well as save the fee. You might want to hop over to the Smart Shopper board and check out some of the discussions there. That's where you will find those "savvy buyers" I mentioned - they can be a whole lot of help!

Keep us posted on how your purchase process goes.
  • moeharrimoeharri Member Posts: 108
Do you have to pay the fee up front or is it only if you approve of the deal? If it's the latter, I'd definitely prefer that over normal bargaining and it tends to drive me nuts--it's not pleasurable to me.

    cablondeblue,
Your pictures look GREAT . Congratulations . I too own an ES350 with Ultra Luxury . My rear sunroof Does NOT open . Was yours a special order ?
If not how do you open it ?

    ************
I wish that was my car. That was just a picture I posted of someone else's white ES that I had in my "Lexus color folder" on my computer. I just posted it because someone asked to see what the sunroof looks like open. (BTW, Just the front sunroof opens.)

Mine will look just like it though. ;) Would you believe my ES was suppose to be here on Tuesday and the dealership is still waiting for it to arrive? The salesman told me that he has been tracking it on the computer. It docked and is suppose to be on a truck somewhere, but has not reached the dealership yet.

Anyone heard of any car-jacking of a large car carrier in the L.A. area?

Congratulations Robynl. Now we both wait.

Ordered a new ES350 yesterday. Was told boat would be in Aug 4 and car to dealer within 10 days. Ordered a Golden Almond /Cashmere with premium plus package, have an 04 Honda Pilot with Nav so that was not necessary. Salesman says some things are now standard that were optional or they are already on this car (swivel headlights - rear side airbags) will have to get a clarification after reading this forum. Tried an Acura TL and was not comfortable, Avalon XLS but wood grain interior is almost yellow in color and lousy offer on trade. Also tried Hyundai Azera. I am 6'3" so I like to be comfortable when driving. Wife will be primary driver but I drive when using car. This is her choice so I hope she is pleased. I was very pleased with power and performance of 350 during test drive. Price was $2006 below sticker and got $10000 for a 00 Avalon XLS with 55500 miles. I would like any feed back before I pick up car as to what I should look for or expect when car comes in. I am already planning on asking for body side moldings as parking lots are tough in North Jersey. Car ordered from Tri-County Lexus in Little Falls.

    Hi!
Does anyone have an actual picture of an aquamarine ES that they can share? The dealers in the OH area have not recd a single aquamarine yet.
    Thanks,

Here is the latest... I just called the BH Dealership and they told me that they are dumfounded on what happened. There are 25-30 cars that are missing and they are unable to find out their location. (Of course, my car happens to be among the missing.)

I know there was a cargo ship last week that rolled in high seas and dumped approximately 1400 new vehicles in the ocean but it was carrying Mazada’s and headed for Canada. http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/07/25/ship.ap/index.html

Normally, in my experience with new car salesmen, I would think this was a stall tactic but from the sound of his voice, I think they are genuinely puzzled and scrambling to calm a few dozen frantic customers right now. He is supposed to call me later today with an update.

Thank God I started this car buying process early and don’t have to turn in my current car for one more month.

I was just kidding in an earlier post about the car-jacking thing. Now I wonder. It is L.A., you know.

Tell him to look in the subterranean parking lot of the Robinson's-May on Wilshire Blvd. A couple years ago I went with a friend to pick up an LS430. The saleperson took us to the lot but couldn't find his car. We drove back to the showroom only to find out the new shipments were parked in the garage below.

    Want to track your car?
Have the dealer run a daily dealer report. This report
should have your VIN # on it. Once the car is allocated, a VIN is assigned which means it most likely is at the Japanese port waiting for embarkation
If you look at it, it will have the name of the vessel (ie: car carrier) your car is on.
Most likely, the carrier company is KKK line or "K" line
go to their web site and go to the car carrier section. There are a few phone #'s
Just call then up, explain you are trying to track your car and ask them when your ship (the one your car is on) is due into the Long Beach port.
My IS 250 was on the Texas Highway. I called and got the date it was due into LB.
Worked for me. Hopefully, it will work for you.
From the port it needs to to go to VPC (vechicle processing center) and then to the truck carrier to the dealer & then the dealer needs to PDI and detail car. From VPC to PDI & delivery it took 3 or 4 days for us.

    Good luck !!!

    I don't own ES350 but I like it.

I do own a 2005 ES330(no hesitation issue) which is still a good car. Lexus dealer service is the best.

My favorite thing about the new ES350 is the exterior looks. Not only looks nice but it does not look like the Camry in any way.

The interior, is a push, I like the layout of the ES330 but I like the color scheme of the ES350 (dark cherry makes it look rich).

Besides couple things mentioned above and yeah bigger engine and keyless start, is ES350 worth $7000+ or so more than ES330?

Part of me says yes, and another part of me says no. I test drove ES350, felt better pick up and power, but not by much, 6 speed would do well on gas. The one I test drove, had a significant hesitation when I went from 40 mph to 20 mph and then punch the accelerator

ES 350 handle better, seating position, the edge goes to ES330, but again, the ES350 is very stylish.

    What you guys think?

    Thanks.

From a financial perspective, it's foolish to get rid of a 2-year-old car. Depreciation will kick your teeth in. Unless your needs have changed drastically or your current car is a real dog, you should keep what you have now for at least another 3 years.

I finally got it! Crystal White/Light Grey Interior. Fully loaded UL Package, manufacturer date 06/06. Nice chooshy ride and lots of power. No wind noise. Tranny felt fine.

Can't wait to get home and play with all my bells and whistles. I had to drive straight to the office from the dealership. (I am like a little kid looking down at it from my office. Can't play with it yet.)

I will post pictures as soon as I get the windows tinted.

I have seen the Crystal White, but would you describe it as a "pearlescent" white or more of a bright, flatter white?
  • cablondebluecablondeblue Member Posts: 72
Thanks everyone. Damn, it feels good to finally have it, admire it and drive it, instead of reading about it all the time. :D

I was out in my driveway the whole evening, playing with everything and then went out for a joy ride. Love it!

Took me a while to program the Homelink to my garage door opener but I finally got it. I previously copied and pasted directions someone posted in one of the forums on my computer and printed them out. That really helped the whole process. (Thanks to whomever posted them before.)

Hopefully I will get the windows tinted tomorrow, so it can be picture worthy. :shades:

It is a pearlescent white. That is what caught my eye the first time I saw it shimmering in the sun on the lot.

Maybe I am just lucky...I took delivery of my black/black ES 350 last week, and I have nothing to complain about! The acceleration is super (I previously owned a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP w/supercharger), everything works as advertised, the air conditioned seats are great, especially in our hot LA weather. The standard sound system rocks and I am generally in love with this car!
  • bobbassbobbass Member Posts: 34
I had a '97 GTP and loved everything about the car except the suspension which was HORRIBLE!

Knowing GM and reading road tests of their current similar vehicles, I doubt very much if the suspension on your '04 was much different.

I am guessing the suspension on your new ES is NIGHT AND DAY compared to your GTP. Am I correct?

My wife traded in her 99 LS 400 with 78,000 miles for an ES350 UL edition. She would have bought an LS 430 a few years ago but never did like the body style. When she saw the ES 350 she had to test drive right away. The ES is exceptional in every way, not as smooth of a ride but close. I would buy again.
  • patpat Member Posts: 10,421
Go to the main ES 350 group page and check out some new discussions. While you're there, be sure to click on the Track this Group link (on the right just above the discussion list) so you won't miss any other discussions that are added.

And if you have a general ES 350 topic you'd like to kick around, feel free to start it up!

Does anyone know if the rear power shade is available on any trim... besides UL. I know on UL, it's standard... but I have heard of other people stating that they got it on the Premium Plus Package. Unless it's not available for the east coast (MD/DC/VA).

If not, is it possible to do it afterwards?
  • psychdocpsychdoc Member Posts: 147
    Hi Pat...

Might I suggest that it's not wise to create all these sub-discussions?

It makes it virtually impossible to follow any one issue or to get a quick overview of what people are discussing. It also makes it nearly impossible to see what others, who we've gotten to know from their posts, are commenting on or writing about.

I'd like to suggest that all these sub-discussions be merged into two or three at most. Perhaps a "General," "Purchase/Lease/Price Paid," and a "Direct Comaprison To Other Vehicles."

I honestly think this would avoid some of the needless and counterproductive fragmentation we are now seeing.

    Just my opinion.

I'd like to hear what others around here think of this issue though.
  • zekeman1zekeman1 Member Posts: 422
I totally agree! I believe we're getting way down into the grass on issues, rather than giving the car a broadbrush look.
  • bash4bash4 Member Posts: 13
It is avalible in all trim lines.
  • patpat Member Posts: 10,421
To psychdoc and zekeman1 and anyone else who is interested:

Actually, if you will take me up on my suggestion that you Track the main ES group, you'll find that you won't miss anything and it will be the same as things were just following this one general topic. That will let you track all the discussions on the ES board. You can untrack any discussion selectively if you'd like to do so, but starting with the whole group is the best way to approach it. That way, you will never miss any new topic as it is added.

The breaking out of larger discussions into subtopics is happening throughout the Forums. It's a policy change that we expect to provide much more flexibility and usefulness in the future.

If you want to talk about it, please drop by the Forums Software - Your Questions Answered discussion - that would be the best place to post your questions and concerns.

    Thanks.

Would love to buy the UL ES350, but is about $3K plus over the Premium Plus Package w/ NAV. One thing holding me back on getting the PP w/ NAV is that I would be getting the 7 spoke alloys. Although the 7 spoke that come standard are nice... they don't compare the the 10 spoke graphite finish rims. If any knows the part # or how much it would cost to get these replaced afterwards, please advise?
  • bwolfbwolf Member Posts: 18
I got the premium plus and got the 10 spoke chrome rims. The 10 spoke does look the best and the chrome looks especially good with the ES's chrome door handles. Dealer cost for these rims is about $1,000
  • dailydeodailydeo Member Posts: 2
Beautiful car....great pics. Nice tint job. Would you mind sharing where you had your car tinted. I was looking at getting tinted windows on my own car. Thanks
  • vluuvluu Member Posts: 100
Great... thanks for the info! $1000 is not bad as an alternative for not getting the UL package. Still save about 2K. More importantly... dealers on the east coast are not willing to deal on the UL since they are low in supply. Why Lexus did that... I don't know.

Did your Lexus dealer charge you extra to switch out the rims?
  • moeharrimoeharri Member Posts: 108
What level of tint did you get? Looks like maybe 35% in the front, 20% in the back and sides?
  • psychdocpsychdoc Member Posts: 147
Just like I thought, the tint looks just awesome on that white UL!

It looks so good with the black glass panoramic roof.

In terms of the integration of that roof, I think whit is the best color. Great contrast.

    Great job!
