Good Afternoon. I am brand new to the idea of leasing (I purchased my first car 2.5 years ago used and I have had nothing but issues). What sparked my interest was the VW advertisement of the 2018 Atlas S ($3,499 due at signing, 36 mo lease, 30K miles, $229/mo). With that being said, I am trying to calculate the difference in payment between the Model S advertised and if I wanted to lease the SE with 12K miles annually; Zip Code 32217. I believe i am in need of the money factor and residual for the 2018 SE 2.0 (MSRP at local dealer is $31,391) and 2018 SE V6 (MSRP at local dealer is $34,595) - each w/ 36K miles total for a 36 month lease? I am also trying to figure out what exactly the CAP is in relation to the MSRP. Any advice would be greatly appreciated - please feel free to add anything I may not have thought to mention/ask. $4575 VW to dealer incentive

2.0 SE V6 FWD: .00040 MF and 51% residual.
$2125 VW to dealer incentive

Do you have a link to the ad?

12K/yr would add about $10/mo. to the lease payment, all else being equal.
The 2.0 SE will have a higher payment, mostly relative to the difference in MSRP, on a percentage basis.
The SE V-6 will have a lot higher payment. The higher residual will be more than offset by the much lower incentive and the higher money factor.

In any event, those are just ads, not actual price offers. By the time you get done with dealer fees, etc, etc, the final price will be much higher.

Plus, an additional $5248 dealer discount (which includes that $4575 incentive from VW)
So, the effective discount from the dealer is $673. (2.1% of MSRP)
$9/mo.+tax more for 36/12

As far as extrapolating it out to the other models? Please check your MSRPs. You are showing a lower MSRP for the SE model, than the S model in the ad, and that doesn't seem likely.

My apologies. The SE is showing a MSRP of $35,455 w/ a dealer savings of $5,500 resulting in $29,955. Would you mind working the numbers on that for a 36/12? I am slightly confused with regards to the dealer incentives. Just so I am on the same page, that is how much more they are able to reduce the car? The car mentioned above has the following details, which my manual calculations seem to be off (even when I use a lease calculator). It just seems quite a bit higher than the advertised deal of $229/mo - I understand that is simply an add, but it is almost double for a difference in MSRP of only $3,700. Enlighten me - Thanks so much!

@bigc13 If you are looking at the V-6 SE models, then the incentives are much, much lower, and the resulting payments will be much higher, exceeding the relative difference in MSRP.

The incentives are all VW-to-dealer. You don't get to use them in calculating the deal. In the ad, they are part of the dealer's discount from MSRP.

Considering the dealer incentive from VW, the selling price is okay.
If the selling price is the adjusted CAP cost, then $369/mo.+tax, which is a little higher than your $400/mo. (by about $7/mo)

$800 fees
$169 tax
$675 acquisition fee

Even with some CAP reduction to get the payment down to $400/mo., seems like there is some excess in there. Maybe $600, or so..

Ask for the adjusted CAP cost and complete breakdown.
Your price isn't out of line. Fees and taxes are high in WA

Looking at an atlas sel in zip 37115. was quoted mostly payment of $766 (msrp of 45550, MF = .00215 and rv of 52%. Cap cost was 42904 after savings of 2646. Sales tax brought total price to 45406.79). Does this sound reasonable?

I don't think there is a "no tax" deal; occasionally, we will hear about tax incentives that reduces the tax rate from 6.25% to 1%.

36/15 payment would be $698/mo, all else being equal.

You've chosen the trim level with the worst lease numbers, which doesn't help.

base numbers are .00090 and 52%; max markup allowed is .00125, which the dealer seems to be taking advantage of.

So no, not reasonable at all. Tell them you want the base MF, or you'll find another dealer.
