Has anyone seen the acadia in gold mist metallic? I have seen it on a yukon and it looks nice...I am thinking about ordering one but would like to see it on the acadia. I assume the same color on another gmc truck would look the same on an acadia. I have done dealer stock searches and can't find one acadia with that color within 200 miles.
Also....the second row is a toss up for me. I am thinking about going with the bench only because the 2nd row captain chairs are so small. If I have an adult back there they might feel confined while the bench gives them more width. Thoughts?
I ordered a gold mist acadia, because i saw the yukon with it. My saleguy told me it would be the exact same color. So, yes i believe it will look the same. Also, the test car i drove had captain's chairs. They were a lot more comfortable and felt roomy and wide enough for me. I am 6 feet tall, so other adults shouldn't have a problem. Hope this helps.
I ordered my liquid silver / titanium Acadia in early December after having read as much as I could on the web and from the information available. It's still two weeks way from delviery so I have been quite anxious to see one and do a first hand evaluation of what I bought. I am coming from an 03 Chevy Suburban and have been a little apprehensive about the vehicle because of some of the web chat and because I never sat in one - until yesterday.
My first impressions are that the vehicle looks just great on the outside and I am well pleased with the use of the space on the inside. I am 6 feet and 220 lbs. The front drivers / passenger seats sit very nice for me and have plenty of space for someone taller. I think GM did a wonderfull job on the rear captains chairs and access to the rear of the vehicle - especially in light of the space to work with. While at first glance the rear captains chairs appear small....they sit pretty nice for our use and provide great access for adults to the back. I think kids will likely scoot betweeen the seats to the rear. The slide adustlable rear captains chairs will likely provide comfort for most seating applications. Overall, the space is just what I envisioned and I feel that I will be very well satified with vehicle.
The only thing that concerns me is that the exhaust system is fairly exposed (low) and they put a bar along the underside to protect it. I do a little hunting and Im concerned that any mucking about in hard pack snow or light off-roading on a forest road could be a problem. I guess I will have to go easy.
I took my older father to see the two cars. I will be driving him and my mom so I wanted to make sure he liked the cars. He felt there was no contest...that the acadia was better...worth the extra dollars. Specifically he liked the nicer interior, seats and the extra legroom in the acadia. That is odd since the specs list both cars very close in legroom numbers.
Another thing....the edge's wheelwell cuts into the rear door so the actual opening is small....the distance from the front of the seat to the front of the door opening is so small you have to twist your leg to get it into the rear seat.
The edge does have a cool feature...electronically lowered rear seats. When you are at home depot and need more room in the car...hit a button in the rear cargo area and the seats flop down.
I looked at the Acadia today and the thigh support on the 2nd/3rd row bench seating is very poor because the seats are so low. I'm 5'7", and when I sat on the 2nd row bench my knees were way up w/ no thigh support at all. Same on the 3rd row. Just imagine if you're taller. On long trips, this would become unbearable. If only they made it a little higher, it would be prefect.
It's probably better to compare the Acadia vs Freestyle rather than the Acadia vs Edge, since the Edge is only a 2 row vehicle with a shorter wheelbase than either the Freestyle or Acadia, so that's why the rear door cuts in more.
Just my two cents...test drove a new Acadia and the outside fit and finish and ride were great. Road noise compared well, but not as good as luxury SUV's like the RX350, but a marked improvement for GM. Handeling was great for a car that big.
But the inside fit and finish was terrible. I realize this is not a luxury model, and that GM's marketing on this car is if you want luxury wait for the Enclave, but there is an overload of black plastic and black carpeting. Plastic and carpet quality was comparable to an entry level Malibu which we didn't think was acceptable for a $30K + vehicle.
We looked at both SL and SLE models and decided against it as they both had overload of black plastic and black carpet (only option per the dealer sales rep). Hopefully the Outlook will have better fit and finish options as we don't want to wait until end of summer for the Enclaves to roll out.
Does anyone know if these vehicles with their automatics and FRONT wheel drive towable behind a motorhome as most GM vehicles are. I realize the all wheel drive won't be but if one of you lucky owners can check their owners manual and see for me. Thanks.
You may also want to consider the Mazda CX-9 as it is similar in size and concept. I'm not saying the materials quality will be any better or worse, but it's another idea at least. I bet you will like the Outlook better, though, because I think the black is kind of a GMC styling thing.
The second row is low but check out your existing vehicle....it probably is the same. I sat in my explorers second row today.....same problem. My knees and thighs were mostly off the seat. In ten years no one has ever complained about it.
Acadia vs Edge may not be a fair fight due to the longer length of the gmc...still , it was in my sights due to its new design. I know their are freestyle lovers here but I won't consider it until they upgrade the engine.
I have not seen the interior of a GMC yet but I personally like the black and contrasting colors in other vehicles. I have been in the Saturns though and they do not have the black contrast scheme in those so you may take a look at the Outlook.
I would think the Outlook and Acadia would use similar interior material quality so you may not be pleased with a Saturn anyway. All reports on the Lambdas have had pretty good things to say about interior quality.
I placed my order for a gold mist fully loaded acadia on new years day... do any of you know when it might be arriving, especially those who have ordered one. thanks!
Colors (interior and exterior) and also some options are brought into the plant per a preset schedule. They do the most popular ones first like black, white, silver etc. This gives the plant guys time to get a color right (match to other prepainted parts such as fascia and body side molding and tuning the spray guns). Can you imagine 10 colors going down the line the first day? What a mess that could be.
I am very concerned about the amount of headroom in the Acadia/Enclave/Outlook including the sunroof which is at 38.5 inches. ( I do want a sunroof) I am 6'4" and my guess is that this will be too tight of a fit for me. I intend to go visit my local auto show in three weeks and sit in all three crossovers. Has anyone with height sat in these vehicles? Was it too cramped regarding headroom? Thanks
I'm in the market for a new vehicle. We're expecting our second child in April, and our Mitsubishi Montero Sport just isn't gonna cut it. So far, we have considered a Yukon/Tahoe, an Odyssey, or Sienna. It wasn't until my local GM dealer called me about their latest delivery (a fully loaded white Acadia), that I was even aware of this new platform. I mean, I'd heard of the new crossovers, but never actually considered one.
We were the first ones to test drive this vehicle, and I must admit, I was very impressed. It has the features of a full size SUV plus better fuel economy and handling. It has all the features we are needing and wanting in a vehicle; however, I'm not planning to pull the trigger just yet. I feel the prices are inflated, and should come down after the "new" wears off. Plus, I'm sure they'll be throwing out some incentives too. I also want to look at the CX-9 before making my decision, though. But, my wife really likes the 2nd row Captains' chairs, and I haven't seen any pics of the Mazda with that setup. Does anyone know if Mazda plans to offer captains' chairs on the 2nd row?? Also, it would be nice to hear what more people have paid for their Acadias/Outlooks. Finally, has anyone with an Acadia actually gotten over 20mpg on the highway. Thanks alot!
I have three questions: (1) Is the navigation system voice activated, in addition to being touch screen controlled; (2) does it replace the 6 disc CD changer in the dash and, if it does, is there a 6 disc changer in the console or in the rear of the vehicle, and (3) can my Apple iPOD be plugged into the dash somewhere so that it will play through the vehicle's sound system? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

(3) There is an auxilary input jack on the front of the stereo into which you can plug an iPod or other MP3 player. GM has also announced a separate interface called the Personal Audio Link (PAL). This is a dealer-installed option that connects an iPod to the stereo through the dock connector on an iPod. Its allows you to control the iPod using the radio's controls, and also charges the iPod. It reportedly will be available for the Acadia some time this year.
My husband is 6'0" with a long torso and he had plenty of room. I even commented on that during the test drive. The drivers seat acutals moves back farther then my mother in laws Nissan Quest. He thought the Outlook was much roomier. :P
I've been told by a GM mechanic who trained for it that all the vehicles with the new 6 speed transmission would be towable 4-down. Have not seen that in writing anywhere, though.
Where did you hear the AWD version would not be towable - I was hoping it was.
I also have not been able to find a towbar base plate for an Acadia anywhere - none of the big towbar manufacturers have one yet, nor any availability date for one. I'd buy the Acadia and volunteer it for designing the base plates, but we are in Florida and the manufacturers are all too far away.
I don't know of any all-wheel drive that is towable 4 down without mods like a lub pump. Don't confuse them with the truck based all wheel drives which have real transfer cases and have a neutral in the tranfer case.
I'm aware that AWD is different than 4WD, which has a manual transfer case and a neutral. [I own one of those now, in my Chevy Tracker ZR2.]
There is nothing inherent about AWD that prohibits towing - like any automatic it merely depends on how the tranny's lubrication system is designed. For example, the Honda CRV is a fully towable AWD system.
It doesn't seem like there is an option of a NAV system on the Veracruz. But maybe the dealer can install one.
They do have an aftermarket nav that can be installed on the Veracruz, but there is some reliable information about a partnership between LG and Hyundai for a nav system that may be available by April. If it is available by that time, it probably won't show up in the Veracruz until late summer or early fall though. It's Hyundai Korea that dropped the ball on the nav. HMA was all about nav for the Veracruz, especially given the other features that are available.
I am waiting for lease data as well...when will there be a CarMan forum to discuss residuals, etc. on the Acadia? The dealer I spoke to said the residual on the Acadia was only 53% on a 39 mo lease. Sounds fishy.
I was comparing it the CarMan posts on Yukons and Tahoes--he indicates that residuals on those are at least 63% for 39 months. Why would the Acadia be so much lower?
The owners manual for the Acadia states that you can dinghy tow (tow with all four wheels on the ground) an all wheel drive Acadia. It goes on to say you must remove the ignition fuse, turn the key to accessory, and place the transmission in neutral. Towing speed is limited to 65 miles per hour.
Very good question. the attached does not give numbers but stars. Question should be why Tahoe is so high.
In looking at the star ratings some of my numbers seem suspect. I think that is because the data source I used picked out the ALG's by model whearas this chart puts all models together.
Thanks for the reply...it is puzzling. So back to my first question...when would there be a dedicated forum here to discuss leasing/pricing experience on the Acadia specifically? Can I create one? Newbie questions, I know...
The Outlook and Acadia are basically the same vehicles; so why are most people on this forum talking only about the Acadia. Is there some big difference between the two that I don’t know about? Which is the better price?
I never so a tow hitch either, and I was talking to a salesman about my bout and he said, "Ah, its right here, they covered it up so you don't see it..." and sure enough, there it was
Two more questions: (1)Does anyone know what type of cable (please be specific) will connect an Apple iPOD to the auxiliary input jack on the front of the stereo (it's right next to the CD/DVD slot) so that the iPOD's music will play through the car's speakers? (2) Does anyone know when the Personal Audio Link that GM is developing for iPOD integration for all of its new vehicles will be available for the new Acadia, allowing for the car's radio controls to control the iPOD and for songs, etc to be displayed on the navigation/radio screen?
The auxilary input jack is the same size as the headphone jack on an iPod. The owners manual says it is 3.5 mm (1/8 inch). I have also heard it called "mini RCA". You need a cable with the same plug on both ends. These are readily available at places like RadioShack.
I have been searching for information on the PAL unit, but have not been able to find anything. My dealer knows nothing about it. GM has said it intends to make the PAL available for most of its vehicles by the end of 2007.
It came directly from GM North America. Unlike zman3 who got one for $1000 more for his GM card, this has no connection to the GM card. It is good from January 3 until March 15, 2007 and is good on 2006 and 2007 Chevy Silverado and Avalanche as well as GMC Sierra and Acadia. Can also use it for $500 off most other 2006 or 2007 GM products. Free $1000 for a new Acadia between now and March 15th.
The Outlook and Acadia are basically the same vehicles; so why are most people on this forum talking only about the Acadia. Is there some big difference between the two that I don’t know about? Which is the better price?
There are 5.1 zillion more GMC dealers than Saturn dealers, which I suspect is the big reason you don't see more Outlook talk.
In Grand Rapids, MI alone we have around 4-5 GMC dealers, and 1 Saturn dealer.
Personally, I like the Saturn better. The GMC looks too much like the Envoy for my taste, and we also like the Saturn option packages better.
I ordered a gold mist acadia on new years day. Do any of you know when i could expect it to arrive. Or do any of you who have ordered one know when yours is arriving?
I actually prefer the looks of the saturn....but there are too few saturn dealers....even in LA. I don't want to drive 20 miles to get my car serviced so I am focusing on the Acadia.
Comments
and the base Acadia has fog lights that are N/A on the Outlook.

(1) No, the navi is not voice activated.
(2) I don't know, but take a look at this forum: GM Inside News Forum

Why does this sound fishy?
Camry/Accord are 54% at 36 months. Honda Civic is 47%.
sounds reasonable.
