"I thought that they took Viagra for that problem."

    Richard--

Is that before, or after, they dump the wife--and car--for newer models? Don't forget that you can revive your your current car's waning libido by adding STP--the automotive Viagra-- to the tank

Ya right-- Marquees getting popular with younger folks !!

You could say the same about the Toyota Avalon. When did you last see someone under the age of 50 driving one of those rolling couches? Your typical Avalon driver sports a comb-over - that is, if he has any hair left at all.

Almost every review of the Avalon calls it the Japanese Buick. It would be no less accurate to call it the Japanese Grand Marquee - the perfect car for people who like to ride as opposed to drive.

was reading a car mag last night (MT I think, I get all the monthlies). They had a comparision test of the Avalon, Taurus, and Genesis V6. Said in the intro, don't read unless yo are retired or about to be 9something like that).

The average age of the buyers for each was high. Late 50"s !!RC for the hyundai and Ford, but 64 for the Avalon! That is way up in Buick territory.

It was all part of a great ad campaigne. Women seem to buy Yorkies as much as men. The idea was to make a Yorkie sound too big and masculine for women.

They are good though, pure milk chocolate, and not that sugared hydrgenated garbage either. They are sold everywhere, and you get a craving for one wherever you see them.

Careful! It is funny how age creeps up on us, and then our tastes change. Things that were once important, like speed and sporty are replaced by comfortable and easy to get in and out of.

I don't feel ready for an Avalon or Buick yet either, but I am not going to mock them, because you just never know. Some day "the feel of the road" might not be as important to me....of course by then, I will probably have to turn in my licence.

Now, that is unusual. What were the factors that attracted you to those cars? Nothing wrong with them, as I just said, but those 2 cars aren't usually associated with young people.

Did you ever desire something a little more daring?

I would really like to know, then I am going to have a phychiatrist friend analyze it.

A couple times I have been to Costco and I can't fit the plant/desk/TV into the back of the SUV, and had to borrow a truck

    or

spring/fall at the lawn and garden shop, getting bark/mulch etc, a small bed is nice

    or

taking the lawn mower in for some work

One solution...buy a medium size trailer. I did that when I got out of a S10 dad had before he passed away. I paid about $450 for it, 5' x 12' single axel...rated for 3500 lbs. Hauls a cubic yard of dirt or mulch easily. That trailer has lasted through my 94 Rodeo, 2000 Trooper and 2008 Saturn Outlook...still have the Trooper and Outlook.

I have always liked large soft riding cars even before I drove. My first vehicle when I was 17 was an 89 Grand Marquis.

Did you ever desire something a little more daring?

Yes I went for a Genesis, RWD with a taught ride "sports sedan" as Hyundai calls it. I can't wait until the lease is up, rides way too firm for me.

I also had a 2000 Solara, but that was sporty in looks only. It was a Camry at heart and rode quiet and comfortable. All of my other rides have been boats, except for my S10.

Yes they are. On a popular site for the Panthers that I frequent, there are several people that are in their 30s or younger with Vics, Marquis, and Town Cars.

It's another one of those Canadian/U.S. spelling snafus again.

Wish youz guys would speak the "Queens English!" :P

At least you didn't say you speak American, thank goodness. And, always remember where our fine language originated.

Speaking of which, I am impressed with the people around here who are very knowledgeable about English Grammar. If you ever see some of the people on Jay Leno's jaywalking they don't know what country the Panama Canal is in, or the Great Wall of China. Keep up the good work.

Here is a good way to make an impression if you are image conscious but are on a budget. No need to just buy the badge, now your neighbors will think you are doing really well, and your garage will look nice and tidy.

Funny thing is every girl I have ever know that had a truck might as well been driving a sedan for they never used the truck utility.

The majority of guys (not all just a majority) I have known that have had trucks used the trucks utility at least semi regularly.

My last boss was an ex-pat Brit who has lived in the States for many a year. We've had some lively discussions of British history, language, grammar and cultural differences.

My current boss is located in Toronto, so we, too, have had interesting discussions of US vs. Canadian politics and social issues.

I wonder how many of the US posters here could articulate any knowledge of the Meech Lake or Charlottetown Accords without having to look them up on Wikipedia.

Re: Leno and Jaywalking. My sister and BIL lived for a time in Burbank, not far from the NBC Studios. My folks were visiting them one time and there were all approached in the local grocery store parking lot by Leno and camera crew. Can't remember the specific outcome, but I don't think they ended up on air.

No I didn't. If it has anything to do with the Pirates, I don't watch it. PNC is probably the nicest park in major league baseball and the Pirates can't even field a AA team to play there.

I think this will be the 18th year in a row that they haven't had a winning team. You have to try to be THAT bad.

Saw the Bucs lose at PNC on Sunday. The team stinks but the food at the park is freaking awsome. And reasonably priced. During the game, my wife and I checked out all the vendors and were stunned. St. Louis fans suffer with the worst concessions in the states. No big problem -- we never buy anything.

I've always driven the same kind of car regardless of age:

    Age 16 - 1968 Buick Special Deluxe
    Age 19 - 1979 Buick Park Avenue
    Age 22 - 1987 Chevrolet Caprice Classic
    Age 24 - 1989 Cadillac Brougham
    Age 29 - 1994 Cadillac DeVille
    Age 37 - 2002 Cadillac Seville STS
    Age 42 - 2007 Cadillac DTS Performance

If I ever considered a Toyota, the Avalon would be my only choice.

Anybody who was anybody in my neighborhood drove Cadillacs, Lincolns, and Imperials. My Grandpop always had a full-size Chevrolet as long as I knew him. His last car was a loaded 1989 Chevrolet Caprice Classic Brougham. My Uncle Daniel who was a banker had both a 1973 Cadillac Sedan DeVille and a 1975 Lincoln Continental.

Attention Posters: As of today, I am forming a new club on this site. It will be called The Tankers. There is only one membership requirement. Members must like and appreciate large cars and SUVs. This would include vehicles such as the Lincoln Town Car, Chevy Tahoe, Grand Marquis, etc. If I am correct, we now have four members: Me, Tjc78, Murphydog, and Houdini. There will be no additional dues, and new members are welcomed.
