New neighbors moved in next door to us. They have a German Sheppard that is outside all day and evening and barks it's stupid head off, the have a van and a Volvo and what looks like a horse trailer in the driveway, the garage is full of useless junk, and when the garage door is closed, there are about 6 cans of gasoline (hope they are empty) in a line along the door, and 2 or 3 garbage cans run the rest of the distance.
We've been here 3 weeks and I haven't seen a human being...though I doubt there are any.

And, I've got the letter from Mazda in the CX-7 file folder that explains the extension on the warranty for those items.
Garage use - my house doesn't have a basement, but the garage is slightly oversized. Both the CX-7 and ION are parked in it, plus a workbench, storage shelves, lawn mower, extra refrigerator and other items. Other houses park the cars in the driveway as the garage is full of stuff.
For a good laugh read thru some Craigs List car ads sometime. "Car 4 sale" That's it! How informative this guy is. Another posted photos of his car with bird crap all over it. http://louisville.craigslist.org/cto/2943670753.html Don't buy a car like this. I explain why in my new book... coming out this July in drivers bookstore.

Keep that in mind next time you think a salesman is there to help you figure out what car is just right for your needs!

2014 Malibu 2LT, 2015 Cruze 2LT,
I guess I wasn't clear about seat heaters. The '05 XG350 did not have them. I think the way you got that option for that car was when you had the "L" model (XG350L) which also gave you a moonroof which I didn't want.
I have the V8 Genny and it has all the options including seat heaters which BTW I had a problem with on the drivers side just this past January. My on the ball Hyundai dealer needed to "fix" it twice. They claimed the factory techs told them to install the wrong seat module the first time. OK, maybe it was the wrong one but aren’t you supposed to check your work? I didn’t go a half mile before it stopped working. That tells me they didn't let it on long enough to check it before they gave it back to me even though I told them that it took about 5 minutes before it would stop working. See what I mean about these nitwits?

We just got my mom a 2012 Sonata Turbo. It replaced a 2006 Azera with 108K that was very dependable. My BIL has a 2009 Sonata with well over 100K that he beats to hell on a daily basis. And I know he's terrible about oil changes. So far so good with that car too. We'll see how the '12 holds up.

Sounds like things are progressing just as the doctors had indicated they would. Isn't it some of the small things that are important to us when it comes down to reality of it all? Sounds. Presence of loved ones.
It's good to hear from you. Another day gone.

Not all dealers are created equal. I bought an ’06 Sonata LX from a dealer on the other side of town in ’06 because the local guy didn’t have the color I wanted and wouldn’t go get it either. I read a blurb on a Sonata forum about a year after I got it about a “klunk” noise in the rear suspension but I didn’t hear it all the time like some people on the internet claimed. I had to really try to get it to “klunk” and under the same condition it wasn’t repeatable. I know these are tough things to find but then I read that there was a tech bulletin on this issue. So, I go to the POS local Hyundai dealer and they say there is not a bulletin on this and they looked at me like I had two heads even though I gave them the TSB number. OK, no real problem because I don’t really have the problem full time and if it does arise I’m going back and then they can see for themselves. I go home and for the fun of it I called the dealer across town where I bought it and I talked to the service adviser and I tell him about the problem and I start to give him the TSB number and he says, “whoa, I know the number and yes there is a problem and you can have it fixed any time within the 5 year/60K mile bumper to bumper warranty so you don’t have to hurry over now especially since it doesn’t act up all the time”. I said, “thanks, but when I went to the POS local guy he didn’t know what I was talking about”. So help me, I heard him smirk and he said, “we’re better than that. We know about the problem. Just give us a call when you want it fixed”. As it turned out I never had to go in for the repair because I traded that ’06 for the ‘09 Genny.
We just got my mom a 2012 Sonata Turbo.
I test drove the 2012 Sonata Turbo when the XG350 blew up. I knew I wasn’t going to buy it because of the problem I had with the dealer about the XG350 but since I was looking at cars that Saturday, I used that as a reason to drive it along with it receiving some pretty good reviews that I read. I agree with the reviews. It’s a really nice engine. Had they not screwed me I couldn’t give a good excuse not to buy it.

My white count, which has been up no more than 0.1 Today that number , 20
Today the marrow starts. New books
Remember back in Dec when I bought the 90 Bronco with a snow plow for the snow that never came? Well, that was my trade. I told the salesman and the NCM that it was old and had typical problems. Slop in the steering, A/C didn't work. Well, the truck was in my mechanic's lot to have the steering fixed, but he was closed for the holiday weekend. This was Friday, 6 Apr.
Dealer insisted that he would have to see the truck in person to do an evaluation, but he would sell me the Mustang at sticker minus $1k in rebates. Whoopee. OK, I'll play the game.
I gave him a number I would pay. $20,500 plus my trade OTD. Asked salesman if he knew what OTD was. He said yes. That puts my truck at $4k with dealer picking up TTL and getting full sticker. I told the NCM that this was a lot of trouble to get my truck without permission and "don't pick apart my trade. The numbers will not change. He said OK.
Remember the truck was in the mechanic's lot? I had spare keys so I had salesman follow me home to get keys and checkbook. We go to get the truck (legal, but not nice if the mechanic were to notice). Go to the dealer with salesman driving the truck and me in the Mustang.
Well, the NCM decides to put the truck on the lift and pick apart every thing (steering slop, A/C). I said I don't care what you like or don't like, nor do I care about you trying to pick apart a 22 year old truck. To whom do I write the check? He says no can do. I said you just put me in dutch with my mechanic so you could raise me by a few hundred bucks. You're a real piece of work.
Here's the kicker. I get home and my security camera is blinking. Somebody was here. I review the memory stick. My mechanic at the door while I was at the dealer with the truck. He looks ahem, unhappy as he's on his way to New Hampshire for the weekend. Uhoh. No car, old truck in driveway, ticked off mechanic, but money in pocket. Such is life.

Why the local auto mechanic thats who.
Reminds me of something that happened to me a couple of decades ago. On a dark moonless night I was driving a two lane country road and I see a car off to the side of the oncoming lane with a police car behind it with the Mars lights going. Just as I passed them why they were there suddenly appeared in my headlights. On the road, to late for me to stop, to late for me to avoid it, was a dead deer. :surprise:
Me going over it, at a slower speed of course, didn't seem to hurt my car any (a Chevy Corsica).

Am I miss-remembering or did you want the GT Mustang? Did gas prices have anything to do with going for the V-6? Was this one a stripper or did it have the performance package. How did the test drive stack up for you, did the car leave you cold like roadburner?
Sorry for all the questions but since I'm short on funds this year I have to live through your experiences.

But there's a bucket in the picture. It looks like he washed his Farmall.
Maybe he just has his prioties right on what makes money for him and that's where the upkeep goes.
2014 Malibu 2LT, 2015 Cruze 2LT,
I was not happy with the headrests making me feel like I was in an airplane seat, but I was told by another salesman they were adjustable (new for 2013).
The seat belt was hard to buckle as the receiver was too far down beside the seat. Other than that I liked it.
V-6 has more than enough power for me at 61. Just don't need a rocket anymore. I nailed it on the ramp to I-81 and was at 80 PDQ. Handling was good and the factory pano mirrors outside made lane changes a breeze.
Gas prices and insurance play a part in determining which one to get. Mostly, it's a $10k jump to go from V-6 to V-8 when configured the same.
The numbers I gave him (ginned them up in 1 minute off the top of my head) left him ample profit and will not change. He just doesn't want a 22 year old snow plow truck. Neither do I. I'm thinking charitable donation and trade the Escape later if I still want the Mustang. I just don't like profiteers stealing my stuff for their gain. I'd rather give it away to a good cause.
No, fezo, you can't have the truck. I don't consider a man on the mend to be a charity.

Actually, that is a good question. No, I just rode over them at parking lot speed. I would have applied the brakes, but you have to realize that I didn't know what was happening until it was over and done. Being at night, I was trying to process the experience within a number of seconds. As a friend of mine said, "Be thankful that it wasn't a bunch of bodies camping out for the night."
"...all 6 of them?"
It was really 8 of them---4 sets of two now that I think about it.

Now you know that the minute it leaves your driveway it will start snowing-- even if it's July. I'd park it somewhere just in case.
I'm disappointed that the dealer offered you sticker minus incentives. That's pretty lame. Is the Mustang that much in demand?

You and your SRX did well. One dark and stormy night my wife was driving across a store plaza parking lot, and the lanes switched to parking spots with cement barriers. Her 1992 Saab came to a complete stop...although I will say the headlights kept travelling and came out of their sockets. She was pretty sore from the sudden stop.
Damage to the Saab, $10000!
Say a special prayer tonight.

Not so much demand as this is the only Ford dealer within 40 miles.
What I discovered was the old sales manager was gone. He had already seen the truck. So what does the new SM do? Calls the old sales manager for trade in advice. I'd like to think I helped run the old SM out of there.
Now I have to run the new SM out so they can get with the program and realize "old school" is over. People do buy cars without payments and 4 square is a thing of the past. They didn't know what to do with a cash buyer removing all their add on profits.

Never said I was a charity. I only need one person to donate and I've hit the jackpot.
There is a nice group that IS a genuine 501(C) group collecting for what will be a large chunk of uninsured expense. good folks -all family and friends. Good people. friendsofstevelasala.org Poke through it an if you want there's donate and check the links out - it is amazing the stuff you find out.
It then becomes very obvious that I will not be in the room myself - they have me a baby sitter.
Turns out that someone had a wee too much in the painkiller department. Should be no big deal. They've adjusted the meds down and the pain isn't any big deal at all.
The thing that triggered them thinking there was a problem was when they tried rousing me for 2 AMs vitals. After a second go at it they get me up (I have no memory of any of this. And they hit me with the questions:
Them: What year this?
Me: 1957.
Went downhill from there until late morning
Richard
Try again at the end of the month...if the dealer is missing their quota they might cut you a better deal.

Sure they did; they didn't sell the car. Being the only Ford dealer around for 40 miles allows them to do almost anything they want.
It's hard to believe there are still 4 square dealers out there. I can't remember the last time I saw one of those.

I spent 27 years in Virginia Beach with dealers everywhere and didn't have a bit of trouble trading cars. Here with a minimal population and no competition, they have been ripping locals off for years. Time for that to stop!
In 2004, the new 2005 Mustang had just come out. I had a 2003 Toyota 4Runner Sport (perfect, low miles, still under warranty). Tried to trade for new Mustang. They were almost 5K back of KBB trade and called it a Tyotee.
I called Dearborn and registered a complaint. Traded the 4Runner for a Solara at a W. Va dealer and was happy for years.
Now Mustangs are made in Flat Rock, MI. I think it's time for a call to Flat Rock informing them that a rogue dealer is running a pawn shop. 1/2 price for any thing of value.
2013 Mustang GT, 2001 GMC Yukon Denali
Just buy it in a more competitive market. You can always take it to that dealer for service.
I saved almost $6000 by going to a dealer that's 30 minutes further than the dealer we bought our last 3 BMWs from. No use complaining, if you want the car you may have to get out there and do some research. You might be better off selling the truck privately.
I think generally dealers in larger less affluent markets have to be more competitive. My old dealer is in a very affluent neighborhood where people just want the convenience of going in and buying a car-no hassle and they are willing to pay.
The dealer I bought from is in a multi-cultural area where people aren't used to paying full price for anything. They couldn't sell a car if they didn't discount, so they make it up on volume.
If that's the car you want I think it's out there, don't know how much work you want to do to get it.
Is your health and in particular your back good enough to get in and out of a Mustang a few times a day?
