I agree. That's why I added that if the market support that prices, by all means they should charge it.

Have called two bluffs in a row today and won both times. I need to find a poker game.

First guy said he would not take a penny less then $17K for his trade because thats what another dealer offered. He hooked up at $15900 for his trade.

Second guy, won't pay a $1 more then $48K OTD for a F350 because thats what one of our competitors offered. He is on his way to my office right now to write a check for $51K.

Michael Savage is a weirdo. He gets so worked up over things and is always blaming illegals or terrorists. He seems to think there is always a conspiracy brewing. It seems strange to me to see the people that get popular in talk radio.

I can understand Hannity, but Savage? I have to laugh whenever I hear him.

There are legal ways to come to this country, and there is a lot of crime done by people who are here illegally. Its not right to assume that all illegal immigrants are criminals, but its not right to assume they all are not either.

I personally have no problem with legal immigrants. I do have a problem with our tax dollars supporting health care of people who are here illegally.

I go to another forum for my political discussions and I don't want do that here.

I will agree that Savage is a moron though.

    Now lets move on please.

Flag picked up...but gotta agree, Savage seems to be a few cards short of a full deck.

Back to topic, went to get my oil changed in the Tahoe today. Saw my first "hyped" Malibu in the showroom. Maybe it was the color (light gold?), but I don't see where it's styling is going to change how anyone looks at them. Ummmm, I suppose it's better than the previous gen, but geez, the way Chevy is advertising, you'd think it was going to be something akin to a Chord.

Interior is straight out of current GM parts bin (not a bad thing), particularly the center stack. Asked my sales guy what the price was. He said they're getting MSRP on them, no less.

I told him to ride that wave as long as he could. It won't last long.

I like the commercials they are balsy.

I like the look of them so far in pictures but I know how that can change in person. Maybe I will swing by the local Chevy store and oops nevermind they only sell Trucks, SUVs and Corvettes they don't even bother to stock any other chevy vehicles.

I agree. This is not the place for discussing those issues. Let's stay with stories from the frontlines!

I see my post was removed. So much for free speech! ;) Savage is an idiot. I listen to him once in a while for the laugh factor. You're right. This is not the place to discuss immigration. However I had to speak out as it was offensive to me.

"Its not right to assume that all illegal immigrants are criminals, but its not right to assume they all are not either." This is another gem there MrSuzuki.

Makes you wonder why car salesman get painted with a broad brush.

On that Malibu, even though the styling isn't all that impressive, did it have raised white letters and a 454?

    That might turn some heads.
  • mrsuzukimrsuzuki Member Posts: 58
I was going to let this lay, but now that you are attacking me, let me clearify. In your orginal post you said that just because someone is here illegally, doesnt mean they are criminals. I was just pointing out that some are, and some are not. I am 100% for people here legally, I have very close personal friends who are here from Mexico, and they are of the same opinion of me.

If you want to discuss politics then go to the Politics discussion. As for issues of race and ethnicity, it's simply not appropriate here and any further off topic diatribes into those matters will be removed without notice.

"I have very close personal friends who are here from Mexico, and they are of the same opinion of me. "

Now there you go with another assumption. Not all illegals are mexicans. That's all I have to say on the topic. Have a nice life.

Some of you might remember that back On 7/3 I blew off a Louisville Mazda dealer because they had slapped a $3K ADM sticker on a Mazdaspeed3 I was interested in(I bought one for MSRP a week later from Kings Mazda in Cincinnati). Today I drove by that same Louisville dealer- care to guess what was sitting out front? I resisted the urge to pull in and gloat... :P

I believe you are talking of Neil Huffman Mazda on Dixie Highway. I had my MPV minivan serviced there once, and they did a poor job. While waiting I looked around the showroom, every model of Mazda had the 2 or $3K ADM sticker.

Nope, but I'm glad that I didn't waste any time or gas checking them out. It was Oxmoor Mazda on Shelbyville Road. And to top things off, their Better Business Bureau rating is "Unsatisfactory"...

Since you are F&I, I don't quite understand how you got involved in the negotiations for either the trade-in or the new car price. Help me understand.

This isn't like you. As one of my favorite posters, I want you to be nice---at least diplomatic. I don't have time right now to drive up to Virginia Beach to spank you. jmonroe keeps me busy enough.

YIKES!!!!! That's where I've been taking my minivan the last 3 times its needed oil changes. Have you heard any specifics on why their BBB rating is "unsatisfactory"?

They usually aren't very busy. Their service and prices have been very good thus far.... YIKES AGAIN!!!

While you're there you might want to give him lessons on how to finish his tales in one episode. Even finishing some of those cliff-hangers would be a good start :D

"That was more than funny(PERIOD). It was hilarious(SEMICOLON); but..." Place a question mark after "funny" in your narrative. Capitalize the "i" in "it's". Place a semicolon after "Edmunds". Place a comma after "Finally". Capitalize the "c"in "cars". Capitalize the word "the" in "the next time...". In the last sentence, place a comma after the word "this".

Your first lesson in spelling and punctuation is today. (See above.) You wouldn't have trouble with your spelling if you would use the SPELL CHECK provided by the Hosts...unless you run into homonyms. You asked where I was when you were in school. Well, I'm here now and it is never too late.

BTW, I could have kicked myself for not coming up with the mrsjmonroe idea. I'm another one to delete from the list. I bet I know who did it. He's right under your nose every day.

This is TRUE. I get right to the edge and he drops me. The next time that I see "CONTINUED" on one of his posts, I'll have to get on him.

Until it was mentioned I always read it as "the big gal". Must be some sort of effect like "Paris in the the spring".

I don't think a 16 year old can validly sign a contract in any state in the USA.

Minors can sign contracts for lifes necessities and have them valid. If this falls under that I couldn't say.

Here, and I think in most states, we cannot talk price or anything to a person under 18 without a parent or guardian present. They cannot even do a cash deal.
  • snakeweaselsnakeweasel Member Posts: 19,617
As I said I am not sure if a car would fall under lifes necessities. But legally a minor can enter into a binding contract for life necessities (i.e. food shelter and clothing if none is being supplied).

A car is hardly a life necessity. Salespeople are licensed here and the age statute is grounds to have it revoked. It is funny because we are not allowed to talk price or financing on Sunday, at the auto show the state sends people around to check for violators.
  • sterlingdogsterlingdog Member Posts: 6,984
Just a related thought on necessities for minors. When I retired, we still had 11 homeless children out of 23,000 students in school. These 11 came because of the free breakfast and lunch---their only food for the day. No, they were not all minorities. When we tried to bring in our guidance departments or social services, the children would disappear and about a month later reappear in another one of our 50 schools. Third world countries are not the only ones with hungry children. BTW, not one of the 11 children had a discipline card filed against them at any of the schools. Talk about your heartache. I imagine that there are many more in our large urban school districts.

Yes, I noticed that flair when I first came to this site. I have been pleasantly surprised that several of you guys write really well. Who says that only women do well in English? Look at your famous writers---about a 50/50 split.

Of course you'll try to defend this by saying there are such things as "food shelters". :P

Since you are F&I, I don't quite understand how you got involved in the negotiations for either the trade-in or the new car price. Help me understand.

I get deals every day that are not closed. It normally stems from when some one ask what the payment is going to be which was the case on one of the deals yesterday, or when some one ask for a bottom line which was the case on the second deal yesterday.

BTW, we were unable to deliver the guy who wanted $17K for his truck, seems as though his idea of perfect credit, differs from mine. When he came in and I was talking about credit and asked him to rate his from 1-10, 10 being the best and 1 being the other end of the scale he said a 9. So I quoted him payments based on Fords best rates, he was closer to 4. :( Found this out after we agreed on a payment and I asked the SP to get me an app. I knew something was up though when he told me that my payment was $18 lower then it was at the store supposedly giving him $17K. Also found out that the $17K was an allowance against a Demo they had.
  • sterlingdogsterlingdog Member Posts: 6,984
Now I see. Isn't it amazing how many people either don't know their credit standing or don't think that F&I can find out. It is such a waste of time for you and them.
  • joel0622joel0622 Member Posts: 3,299
Yes it is. Some people believe that if it is a voluntary repo then it is no big deal because they gave the car back, and some believe that a BK last year is no big deal because the court said it was OK.
  • sterlingdogsterlingdog Member Posts: 6,984
Text message correspondence is never an excuse for poor English. Look at your first sentence. It doesn't contain the thought that you meant to convey. You are, however, correct about Spell Check. That is why they continue to print dictionaries.

Free speech is wonderful---if people understand what you are saying. You say, "It's a free country." Have you talked with the IRS or your boss lately---perhaps your wife?

Now quit that silly text messaging. You're actually one of the better writers at this site. Besides, I am only an hour from you. I don't want to have to come up there.
  • jescuejescue Member Posts: 521
sounds like the phone up I had this week. They asked what was required to finance a luxury car and I knew I was in trouble. When I said it was based on credit he said he had good credit. I asked if he knew his score. 560 was his reply, with no car credit. :surprise:
