    MSRP: 57,244 (GS 350 F Sport AWD with Mark Levinson, Park Assist, Heated Steering, Mats, Wheel Locks, Floor Liners)

    Negotiated Price: 51,328
    Sales Tax and Other Fees (Tags, Acquisition etc.) + Prepaid Maint: 5,203 (of which nearly 3.1K is MD Sales Tax)
    Zero Down
    Gross Cap Cost: 56,531
    Lease Cash: -4,000
    Adjusted Cap Cost: 52,531
    MF: .0004
    Residual Val: 51%
    36 /12 Lease - $680 / month

    I think this was a good deal and hope this helps others negotiate better deals! Could have saved another 20/month by declining the prepaid maintenance but caved in at the last minute knowing that I was probably paying around $200 more overall. Oh well, you win some and you lose some!! Thanks again for the information on this forum!

    Came to that by taking the residual % from the example above, 49%. If original purchase price was near $58k, taking 10% off MSRP for a final price near $53k. 49% residual puts it at $25,970.

    Am I off base in my thinking? Given that sedans aren’t the popular vehicle choices now, do you think my offer is reasonable?

    The CPO status will add a few thousand to that number, me thinks (and, I think the dealer will agree).

    Offer whatever you think is fair, then see what the dealer responds with.

    Keep us posted; I've been starting to think that a luxury CPO may be my next vehicle, once my Jetta lease is up in 14 months.

    Residuals are a percentage of the MSRP, not selling price.
    Also, lease residuals may not reflect real-world resale values. Certainly, not the residual on a 2018 model vehicle, when compared to a deal from three years ago.

    The market determines price.
