The Town North quote is even better than S-Plan pricing. The MSRP should be $30865 though (26300 Base + 560 dest + 4005 Tech), unless they quote you the Pearl White color (+ $200).

I'm the shopper in the family and after researching and driving the Rav4, CRV, and Pilot my sister bought a CX-7 today for $23,500. She got the sport model with moon roof & bose, pwr. seat and fog lights. We are in St. Louis and bought through the internet dept. at Planet Mazda in Ferguson. She even got a 4.9% loan for 48 months. What a great car!

Negotiated Stock Price: $29,852 -- bumper gruard, wheel lock, and weather mats included.
100K extended warranty: $ 1,700
Additional Accessories: $ 506 -- Roof Rack & Auto Dim Mirror (including labor.)

Bought our beauty from Norco Mazda in Norco, Ca. Best dealer we have ever been to. The owner spoke to us for over an hour about the dealer ship and how it is run. Very up front. The CX-7 has everything but satellite and homelink. That can be added later. Disappointed it did not have a way to plug in the iPod or MP3 player. Oh, well, wireless will do for now. An accessory is to be out soon so we can plug in.

What a car. Ride, handling-everything is fabulous. If you don't have one, get one. A real kick in the pants to drive. Zoooooom, Zoooooooooooom.

You didn't mention if you bought the Tech Package.

Mazda does sell an iPOD kit on their website, under Accessories, but there's a catch for those with the tech package. You can either have the Sirius installed with the tech package OR the iPOD adapter, but not both

I don't have the details, but there're discussions elsewhere on this forum about this issue.

Paid $1350 for 3yr/50,000 mile extended warranty, bringing the total to 6 yr/100,000 factoring in the standard warranty. Bought the best "total care" package w/ $100.00 deductible per visit.

Put $11000.00 down and financed the rest through a 6.99% home equity loan for 15 years @279.00/mo. with no prepayment penalty.

We bought from Mazda of Clear Lake (Clear Lake, TX). They were very professional and treated us extremely well. I did my HW and comparison shopped; it paid off. They introduced us to the service manager, too. He was working late (on a Saturday) and even took the time to discuss our new vehicle with us.

Mine is offered by a third party vendor - The Mechanic Program (?) I guess I could have negotiated down further on the price...., but I didn't know how much these warranty plans run before purchasing my cx-7. Oh well, at least I have a peace of mind knowing that my car's covered for 100K, which also includes the roadside assistance, etc.

Too bad you don't have Geico insurance. They offer extended warranty for only $35 a month with $250 deductible. Much better deal, don't you think? :shades:

Way off topic, I know - but GEICO is great until you actually cost them some money. I had a GEICO policy for ten years and then got dropped after one at-fault accident. I ended up saving about $400 a year on two vehicles when I moved to Progressive. I thanked GEICO for dropping me and moved on... but it was pretty crappy of them at the time.

I don't know how Geico would structure the extended warranty payments, but assume $35.00/mo. for the 36 months that the extended warranty is in force, brings the total to $1260.00, plus a $250.00 deductible instead of my $100.00 deductible. So for $90.00 more, I'll make up the difference after the first service visit in a big way.Also, are you sure Geico covers the CX-7 turbo issues, most extended warranties will not cover the turbo type engine w/o a special provision in the service contract.

It's called mechanical breakdown insurance. The $35 is included in my monthly insurance bill. Hmmm, can't argue with your math. Let's just hope that the reliability of the CX-7 is superior, so that neither one of us has to execute our extended warranties!

According to Geico, there are no exclusions or limitations in their warranty. Covered up to 7 years or 100,000 miles. Of course, I'll grow tired of the CX-7 before then, so it's not likely I'll see if Geico really honors their pledge.

I got the mechanical breakdown insurance for just 37.5 for 6 months. Just let you know, you may need to check with geico. In that way, it may save you some $$$

The extended warranty was sold through the Mazda dealer as a Mazda warranty program. It appears to be a nationwide program as the contract was from the Mazda Co.

There are 3 groups to choose from, I bought the "total care" option which has the most extensive coverage. Most extended warranty programs don't cover the turbo issues so the factory program seemed to be the way to go.

The standard price for the total care option is $2350.00. I paid $1350 w/$100.00 deductible per covered service visit.

The standard Mazda warranty is bumper to bumper 3years/36,000 miles and the "power train" portion is 5 years/60,000 miles. So, one way or another, the vehicle is now covered for 6 years/100,000 miles, except for maintenance and wear items.

Will be very interesting to see how many times I need to use the warranty...Mazda is guessing almost never!

I drove the CX-7 at Zoom Zoom Live. I love almost everything about it except the slight turbo lag. I have yet to convince my wife on the CX-7 (it is going to be her ride on weekdays and the family ride on weekend), but at least she likes the look of it. I had a Miata for 7 years and current own a RX-8. So far I have not had any problem. I normally don't consider buying 1st year model cars because of the fact that they are prone to design/manufacturing defects. With the extended warranty, at least it gives you the peace of mind. Decision, decision...

On Oct 5, 2007 we purchased from our local Madza Dealer one
Liquid Platinum Metallic with GT Black leather.
It included the Technology Package, Compass/autodim Mirror with Homelink, Sirus Satellite Radio and the Preferred Equipment Package,Front & Rear Bumper Guards.
MSRP WAS $31,750 OUR PRICE WAS $30,750.00+ TTL.

We looked at Toyota RAV4,Honda CRV,and a couple of Honda and Toyota Sedans.
The CX-7 turned out to be the biggest bang for the Buck.
The styling,handling, and everything else was in favor of the CX-7.
We now have about 2500 miles and enjoy it very much.
When you drive, it fits like a glove and goes where ever
you point it. The Zoom,Zoom is definitely there.
Gas milage has been much greater than we expected.

On a 1596 mile trip in the Ozarks we averaged 25mpg over all. We make between 17-19 mpg in town.

Go in 1st week in Dec. for 3,000 mile check up and install a Hood Bug Deflector that was ordered.

At this point in time we have no complaints at all!

So, in the end, got $3000 off MSRP.If I didn't want the extended warranty,I would have paid $27,350.00 for the vehicle.

Don't settle for anything less than $3000 off MSRP. Have close to 2000 miles on the CX-7, only issue was the gas cap, replaced about a week after purchasing. Seems to be a nice vehicle, plenty of get up and go, got 17.59/mpg on last fill up in town driving. Remember,the Cx-7 does take premium 91 octane fuel. Most fillups are taking about 14.5 gallons at approx. $34.00 per fill. Window sticker says 18 city, 24 hwy, so getting about "as advertised."

Make sure you get the Xenon lights, they work fantastic at night!

How much should I be looking to spent on a basic CX-7 SPORT FWD? Would $22k OTD(including everything) be reasonable? Also, is it worth getting it with an extra package? if so, which one? I am considering one for my wife. She doesn't need all the extra bells and whistles. She just loves the car exterior.

Steve, it seems to me you are being quoted the invoice price and based on my shopping that's an excellent deal! Best I've been able to do so far in the LA area is the Costco deal, which is $500 over invoice.

Which dealer in LA offered you the car at invoice???

In order for deal disclosures to be helpful to others it is important to reveal your geographic location and that of the dealer.

I have now visited 2 Mazda dealers in So Cal - 1 in LA County and 1 in Orange County, and the lowest either of them would go is $500 OVER Invoice on any CX-7.

On the other hand, I can get any '07 Murano for $100 OVER Invoice!

I couldn't have touch a Murano similarly equipped for under $30k and I did on the CX-7 fully loaded. Best price I got was UNDER invoice but still about $3k more than the CX-7.

CX-7 Grand Touring (already has traction control and tire pressure monitor), + Tech (includes sunroof & Nav), +Sirius, +remote start, I got for under $30k.

PS. When I drove the CX-7 it was a bright day and I had difficulty seeing the 2 gauges on the right-side of the instrument cluster (fuel and ?). Have you noticed that?

Thanks! I felt like I got a very good deal. Part of the key was doing a quote through CarsDirect.com first and then request a quote from local dealers in your area. You'll most likely end up dealing with the sales manager or the internet sales manager at the dealership and they'll know you are doing your homework. I didn't have to "haggle" much at all. Went in, she beat the CarsDirect price... went to another dealer, he beat her price, went back and she beat that... at that point I knew I was real close to invoice and I liked the salesperson a lot (real low-key and laid back) so it was a done deal.

Also, my mom was buying a car at the same time and EVERYONE says she got below invoice. She got the Mazda 3 Hatch, s Touring with moonroof/CD changer package and Sirius Satellite radio for $19,800.

Gauges, I haven't had any problem seeing them. What I did find a bit annoying was that the auto-headlights are too sensitive and when they kick on the gauge cluster and radio dims... and it dims too much for daytime viewing.

Mileage I can't say yet... still on my first tank of gas -- but I already started cutting down on my smoking (and won't smoke in the new car) to make up the fuel cost from my last car! LOL

As I said, enjoy your new car... Since I can't do nearly as well here on a CX-7, I'm going for a Murano SL, which (even after getting a really good deal from Nissan) is $3K more than a CX-7, but I happen to prefer it.

I just bought a new CX-7 from Mazda Escondido for $500 under invoice - $28k without tax/title/license for a GT AWD in black with sunroof/bose package, auto-dimming mirror w/ homelink, and they threw in the rear cargo cover. The week previously they had offered $100 over invoice so they must be getting some dealer holdback from Mazda at the end of the year.
