Check the article and check the price they had listed.

It is off by at least $4000. That is why it was cheaper. They had the wrong price and they believed it. And it came out 1st because of that.

The Toy truck is not cheaper, but it was in the article.

Best thing I have ever seen done to a Toyota was:

The tailgate was repainted with the word "TONKA" in wonderful Tonka font on the tailgate. I nearly drove off the road laughing.

quarter window hinges look like. Picked up the truck yesterday and looked at the windows first thing in the morning...sure looks like the old hinges...like they didn't replace anything. The window hinges doesn't really hold the window closed that well. If you press on the window with just your thumb and can open it about 1/8" with the latch in the locked position. Any help would be appreciated...got to go on test drive with shop foreman in a couple of hours.
  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
    anytime...no problem.
  • redsilveradoredsilverado Member Posts: 1,000
obyone the new hinges work fine especially if
while driving you don't keep your thumb pressed
against the glass. try it you'll see.

markbutt i only made it through the 2nd grade
and my silverado is paid for so i guess its ok
for Edmunds to check IQ. they said that since i
own my truck(not financed or leased-- cash baby)
that grade level and IQ didn't apply to me.
besides if i need to know something i'll probably

ask BLUEBEAST he seems to be quite knowlegable
and he has one badass looking truck.

I think/thought that the crack problem with the rear sliders was in the frame of the window. That is where my window was leaking (top of window, passenger side). The whole window was replaced with an "upgraded" unit. The only thing different was the seal assembly. and the latch (much better design than the original one the General put in).

    Glass cracking - that's scary!

Like my plate? It came that way from DNR, honest.

DMV!!! I guess I've got fishing on my mind...
  • jescopjescop Member Posts: 33
I don't know if this is a problem or normal.
At speeds of about 25-40 MPH, I notice a fluctuation in my RPM's. I can let off on the gas and coast and the RPM's drop to say 1000, if I step lightly on the gas they jump 400 RPM's before an increase in speed. It like at this speed, the torque converter is not locked in.
I am just wondering if anybody has noticed this, or if I have a problem. Its a 1500 with a 5.3 engine. It could be just that range between gears, but I'm not sure. I appreciate any input.

  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
you gotta teach me how to do that...press the thumb on the window and drive at the same time. Gotta wait til new ones come in.
  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
have you decided on whether you're going to get the Yukon or the Denali? Big difference...one has a chance of vibrating and the other doesn't. I had talked to the GMC dealer today about '01 Denali. He said that if they do change which is very likely, it won't be till third or fourth quarter of '00. As it stands now all incoming are older variety.

Good to find out that someone has the ZX3 suspension. I have it on my LS 1500 scheduled for TPW of 4/10. How do you like it? Bob
  • bob332bob332 Member Posts: 137
Ryan, GM customer service told me to call on Monday 4/10 and I could find out the day of the week that my truck will be built. Since we both have the same TPW I thought you might want to give them a call also regarding your truck, especially since you have had so much trouble in getting information. Let's hope it is not Monday due to all the substitutes working for the regulars. Bob

what exactly is the hinge made out of?
  • redsilveradoredsilverado Member Posts: 1,000
    that's a good question.
latch is made of carbon fiber impregnated
plastic. hinge is virtually impossible to see
unless the door cover is removed and i hav'nt
been brave enough to explore what's in there yet(
will do so when i get tired of whimpy rear
speakers and decide to replace them). right know
all i can see is two screws that hold onto the
frame and a rubber grommet w/clip.
anyway they seem flexible but firm.

p.s. do you know of any replacement speakers for
    reaer doors?
  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
I bought some Polk Audio EX series for the rear doors. Not bad. About $100 a pair. It's been awhile so can't remember the size. Can look it up though...just let me know.
  • redsilveradoredsilverado Member Posts: 1,000
would appreciate that info. whenever you have
time. it's been awhile since i've played with
audio stuff but. i recall polk being way up there
on quality. did they give you the perfomance you
    were expecting?

The speakers are 4 x 6. I had originally setup the truck with a $3000 system. Glad I had second thoughts ended up spending about $1500 including Kenwood deck. Only regret was 10" powered Bazooka which shook the whole truck and vibrated all the windows. Changed that to an 8". Actually I should have gone with the customized underseat boxes...but they were $279 a piece not including the subs and the amp. I play it loud and the Polks handle just fine.

June 2000 has a 3/4 ton 4x4 ext cab with $30000 of mods that goes from 0-60 in 4.7 sec. 500 HP. All the guy did was put new rims and tires on and drop a Corvette LS1 engine and add a turbocharger. Damn this is a cool truck.

    Ryan:

Got my Husky Mud Flaps Friday. They look pretty good. I'm going to put them on Sunday. I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks for the info on the Motor Trend truck test. I'll have to go buy the issue.

I saw an Indigo Blue Z71 yesterday. He had factory flares that were also Indigo Blue. He had put that stainless rocker panel trim on it, with stainless step bars. Truck was VERY cool looking. Anyway FYI.

Sounds just like the 2500 I'm planning on towing with. I would be interested to hear about your towing experience, handling, hills, mileage etc. I will be towing a 7k TT.
    Thanks,

guess we talk too much - this post will probably grow from 50-60 post per day to over 100!! Anyway, I took the 1500 badges off the sides and the rear (silverado and chevy badge) was more work than I expected, but should make waxing a lot easier. I don't understand why they put those on anyway...
  • redsilveradoredsilverado Member Posts: 1,000
anybody; any suggestions on when it's cool to
switch to syn. oil? found mobil 1 at walmart for
    15.00 per 5 qt. cont.(i know i need 6 to fill).
also what's the best way to remove those side
    emblems.

Blue what (here we go) tires do you have on your
    ride?
  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
New vettes come with syn oil from factory. Changed mine at 300 miles. Use 100# test fishing line to remove emblems and some Goo Gone. You may want to warm em up with a hair dryer first. Zaino after and no sign that emblems were ever there.

Any one put custom wheels on their new silverado. If so, can you post any pictures.

DRL update yesterday seen 2 trucks with em out both passenger side

    Ryan
  • vince4vince4 Member Posts: 1,268
Well I went on a road trip last weekend and saw 2 trucks with driver side DRL out. My first ones. Does anyone make a long-life version of the bulb for those?
  • vince4vince4 Member Posts: 1,268
Y'all will probably think I'm crazy but I sometimes hear a boom or thud from under the hood when idling. At first I thought I was crazy or it was a car nearby but it's happened too many times. It's usually after it's been idling a while in traffic. Has anyone noticed this?? (6.0 w/auto)
  • redsilveradoredsilverado Member Posts: 1,000
thanks for all the info you've been giving me,
maybe you'll adopt me soon so there will be two
    internet families on this board(ha,ha,).

anyway, what's your opinion on air cleaners and
oil filters? i've tried the mobil filter and oil
pressure showed lower psi. changed back to PF59
and oil pressure came back up to original mark.

You can switch 'em off on the 2000 trucks.
  • dbhulldbhull Member Posts: 150
This has probably been discussed a thousand times, but there are too many posts to weed through and find out.

I just waxed my 99 Silverado with Meguires Cleaner wax and now I have terrible swirl marks in the clear coat. Am I hosed or is there something I can used to fill in the swirl marks.

I always thought the Meguires was pretty good wax, but apparently it isn't worth anything on the clear coats of GM trucks.

    Help???
  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
    ....#26 I think??

Cleaner wax is quite abrasive....but is good for just that.....cleaning.

Yellow wax #26 is a good choice for after it's clean.

    Quad,
My 2000 can't override the DRL's or the lights as people have said.

    maybe it's too early of a 2000?

DRL's don't bother me....sometimes i wish i could idle at night with the lights off though..

I know they make kits...but it's really not that much of an issue to get one..

Does anyone have the ZX3 ride control. This option may have only been offered for the first time on the 2000. If so, I would like to hear what you think about it after having used it. I ordered it to be on my LS 1500. My thought was to have a truck that I could trailer and haul with, but also a softer ride the remainder of the time that hopefully would be easier on my wife's back aches that result from a stiffer ride. mgdvman i'd take your truck back if you can't
ov.ride drl's. we can ov.ride ours with no
    problem.

dbhull we used to use meguire's religuiosly but
after using Zainos, meguire's seems like a toy.
carnuba is the worst thing you can do to the new
GM clearcoats. it's like putting peanutbutter on
your hand and then trying to wipe it off with
nothing more than a paper towel. you spent good
money on your truck with modern tech. treat
yourself to the best in car polish and get z'd.
call sal, he has people in areas around the
    country that distribute his product.
the guy i get my stuff from is 1 hr away there
might be someone close to you.

if i remember right, you got your truck late last summer. also...if i remember right, the overrideable (is that a word?) drl's were not out yet. they came about as an overwhelming response from the new 'rado owners that didn't like them at all. if you push your dome override button 4 times within 5 seconds and your drl's don't go off, then you don't have that function. it's nice...but the only time i use it is going through a gate on a military post. military police don't like being blinded while they're trying to verify you're legit. also, having the headlight override function was nice when we were camping and wanted to turn the radio on. 8:00 at night...camp fire...wine...grateful dead...headlights bad. so, just pushed the override button and voila...no headlights. rest of the night was very nice...
