I'm posting because I've been in a situation where I've personally put two to three hundred miles on different trucks, which are configured and built the same. I don't know which factories each came from or for those of you with different theories - which day of the week they were built on. Its just an observation that you can take 5 trucks built alike, and I can promise you they don't all drive and perform the same, I wish I knew the differences.
Just to clear the air - I'm NOT saying one color is better than the next. I am saying - overall the truck is still quite an improvement and being able to drive these was what convinced me to go ahead and upgrade to my new one.

that. your name otta be Bluechip to match the
chip on your shoulder. you must have thought that
i was directing my post at you but, as i recall
my question was to ryanbab or can't you read.
do you own the board because you got truck of the
week award or are you just uptight naturally.
yes i have friends (this reply is out of courtesy
for you) but, in our group we have one just like
you. as for ryanbab bieng your son(internet
adoption?) i feel sorry for him, what an oddball
example for him to follow. one wrong remark and
you're all over him. if i was your son and you
treated me like that i'd pop your tires. as for
ryanbab taking care of himself i have seen plenty
of proof of that. i know you're probably gonna
come back with one of your usual gomer stlye
combacks
but i don't mind it keeps me amused.

from first mile. 1'st tank was shell(known to
have dirt in there gas) filled up by dealer(not
blaming dealer), 2'nd tank 76 gas idle became
smooth, 3'rd tank texaco idle became bumpy but
not as bad as with shell, 4'th tank went back to
76 and idle became smooth again (ok antenna bumps
once in awhile but nothing like i've seen on some
of the other trucks as a matter of fact it only
deflects an 1/8 of an inch at most) on 6'th tank
now and has not changed only improved. i know
this may not be the answer but it's working for
me and 2 out of 3 of my friends that have gone to
76. the one that hasn't shown a lot of improvment
is my friend with the 6.0 but it doesn't have
any problem off the line either.

It was real simple to install and fits nicer than I expected. Looks great. Probably not totally water tight, but seems to seal pretty good. I'm satisfied. Money well spent!
What do you guys think of the aftermarket hood scoop. I've seen them on a few 99's and 00's on the road over the past year.
But a Ford??
man....I feel ashamed to have you own the same truck as me....provided you actually ordered it?
LOL
LIGHTEN UP MAN!!!!
You need some anger management. Listen to this Tommy Lee/Methods of Mayhem (takes a bit to DL)

...crank it as loud as you can get it....take a baseball bat and smash the hell out of anything around your computer..but NOT the computer itself.....feel better?

Don't worry ace....you fit in fine here....unlike Trucklover....remember him??...he was before your time Ryan...
Can anyone supply part 2 to this story?
One of the few options I did not get...and always wondered how and if it works?

Vince4 -I'll try to continue where you left off this weekend, but I doubt that's a mic wire leading to the rear.
Thanks for all the info in the past great.

red, have to keep the babbler sharp, makes him think before typing! I'm glad to see you have "one of me" in your group, keeps the intelligence level at a high standard.
payner, time to change the oil. My feeling is to get rid of all the assembly lube left overs any "break in metal shavings" and to start with a oil filter & oil YOU want.
cell phone, a friend copied all the diagrams and instructions on the cell phone option from the service manual. If anyone wants a copy, post your fax # or e-mail it to me.
now could you please answer a couple of questions
i have about my silverado.
1. i also get great pleasure out of doing my own
maintenance, not to mention that nobody in my
opinion will care as much about doing things
right on my truck as i will.
on to the question already, on 1500 2 wd how many
grease fittings will i find on the front end.
2. would also like to switch to synthetic but not
sure when.
3. what do you recommend for air filter.

When you read thru the article, the facts and figures sure lead up to a clear Silverado victory, then the result is laughable. I really wouldn't mind it much IF the Tundra was as good as they say, but I just don't see it.
I took a very close look at both the SR5 and Limited versions at the car show this week (I was curious to all the hype), and I must be missing something, because it looks and feels just like a F150 rip off.
Anyway, never saw one before, and it certainly caught your eye after seeing Z71 all the time. Not sure if its stock or custom though...
silverado. I currently have the ones that
chevy sells just to protect the truck for now
but don't really like the way they fit. Any
suggestions will be appreciated. By the way it
is a 2000 4wd ext. cab without fender flares.
I would prefer something that I don't have to
drill any holes for.
Thanks,
Mike
2 & 3. I changed to sythetic (Mobil 1 & Mobil 1 oil filter) at about 1K miles (I'd have to go and look in my maintaince book to verify for sure, but close enough).
*** BIG SHOW this weekend, I think I'm gonna go!

do a search or just scroll down aways.
z71 package was $285 when i got mine...you see, i already have a truck. i know, i know, low blow...but, at least i haven't accused you of ordering/wanting a tundra...

If you don't see one don't wish for it, you'll know if you have one it will be visible.

Thanks!
Ext. cab, 2wd, 2500, 6.0, LS, buckets, console, cd/tape, auto, etc. 600+ miles now and I am loving it more every day. Will have camper shell installed this weekend and take it for my first "trailering" expedition. Plan on pulling 7200# GVW trailer that is probably 200# overloaded (7400#). Will see how it compares to my 91 GMC 4wd/350. Nothing like cruis'n down the freeway with Tammy Wynette CD blast'n! AHH, LIFE IS GOOD!
Anyone wanna buy a 91 GMC xtra cab fully loaded 4wd?

i can find out when i get home from work tonight the exact month for you
go to http://www.trucktrend.com
they should have the article im sure.
Z85 is the Frim Ride package...and the stiffest you can get on a 2500. Although I bet my 2500 Z85 rides firmer than a 1500 Z71?
Never seen any sticker besides the Z-71 or 4X4?

P.S. I too don't understand their outcome. Not because I favor the Silverado, but all they did in the article in praise the Silverado and then they give it a second. The ratings just didn't correlate with the write-up.
went:
toyota
chevy
ford
dodge
I forgot why toyota won when i get home ill reread it but it was so friggin BIASED it made me sick.
Ryan
i think toyota paid em off

The Limited version with fake wood grain and Leather buckets was $31,500. I bet it was a "base" limited, if you know what I mean.
Both of these references are for an extended cab 4x4 model.
