a 2k 1500 LS, 4.8 l, 2 WD, ext cab, LB. Didn't add many options (the LS is a nice package) but they are locker, hi cap air cleaner, tow hooks, deep tint windows, automatic. Tried for the rear slider but we all know that story. Did the carpet delete. It'll be easier to keep clean especially with to small kids to tote around. Also, it's a TRUCK and you should be able to hose it out.
Aftemarket, I'm looking at a mid-high color-matched cap, drop-in liner, bug shield, vent shades, mud flaps, running boards. Maybe a power slider.
Graphite interior to go with Penn State (indigo) Blue exterior.

My TPW is this week. I'll call CS Friday to get the VIN. Plant is E. Pontiac.

Thanks for the info. Pics of your installation would be great and truly appreciated. I too like the flexible mud flaps for the reasons you mentioned, plus I like the look especially for the rear wheels.

Had Monday off and had to replace my water heater. Come back to find there's a butload posts to catchup on.

Roger-somebody, rwagoneer I think, said that he had the power-slider in the cab and a boot instead of a slider in the cap. How does that fit? I have a power-slider as well, and a manual slider in the cap and was thinking about puting a boot in instead. Does it contact the painted metal, or the glass? Is it glued, screwed, or compression fitted? Any weather or noise problems?

Nice boards! or uh.. Bars! Whatever. I was probably going to get the Westin CPS bars, but after seeing those pics, man I'll just have to save up a few more pennies.

August 10 through 12 in upstate NY sounds good. I could make it on the 12th!

thanks for the response. I think I've already done pretty much all the mods except for a supercharger and/or NOS. Have airaid,Granatelli MAF, JBA headers, Gibson exhaust...and waiting for Hypertech for '00 model with 160 degree thermostat. According to one of the websites, they had recommended changing injectors to increase fuel flow along with the fuel regulator for maximum gain for using their plugs. I guess I'll research the injector and regulator parts first. Thanks again.

Oh well....what are we going to do??...say no?
Mine came a whole wopping 20 miles at most from Factory to Dealer.

    Cindy,
Still purring away...I tried for a fix once...and decided the hell with it...no biggee. I have 12,475 miles so farr in about 7 months. A few behind you..but I haven't taken any long road trips...except two times hunting...about 500 round trip.Should get a few thousand in trips this summer.

    Mike,
They are not cheap...but I have yet to see another truck on the raod with them...makes a lot of people ask. I like them.

Truck bash in NY eh?....Don't know if the date works for me or not. I'll be getting back from another trip right before that...as well as another In July....we will see.
    Have one for me!

Now there is something we don't hear too much any more.
I have a barely used Powershot 125HP system as well as a remote bottle shut off and all the fuel and RPM safety switches.

Put it on the Hurst/Olds and after using it a few times....I asked myself...."what the hell are you doing??)

Does anyone have the part number for the NO DRILL lund interceptor bug deflector? I was at a truck store yesterday and he told me lund sends them a package of 10 sometimes its no drill sometimes its drill. he said eventually in the next yr or 2 itll all be no drill. Their price was $75 seems kinda high to me.

Bash: The summer sucks. I guess you cant include me anymore. Ill be in summer school and working. maybe next summer i dont plan on working as much and hopefully ill have a boat by then.

Yeah, I know what you mean about the spelling. I changed the spelling because the name was already taken either here at Edmunds or somewhere else. I get to Deva about 5 to 6 time per year. Love the Racetrack and Hidden Valley areas. Now with the new truck, I'll have to "break" it in for new adventures.

    Tim,
    In seven months you racked up 12K +, I have 15K +
(got mine Sept 1)--that means it will take us about 3 years to hit 100,000 miles, right? That would be when my warranty runs out, and things start going wrong.. ;0(

How are YOUR power windows, do you notice any squealing? Wetness? Is that reason to take it in?
  • bluebeastbluebeast Member Posts: 258
Babbler, you can get Black ceramic coating on JBA's headers now. This way they will match your wheel flares and nerd bars.
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
I dont care what the color of things are under the hood only time u see that is when u open the hood the outside stuff (nerf bars etc.) you see all the time.

someone listed that part# for the no drill Lund. If that dealer doesn't know I would shy away from him.............$75 is to much for it I payed $60. This IS something you CAN install yourself LOL.

    Ray T.
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
That part # was actually the one that you had to drill i checked in a local parts catolog. I know i can in stall it and i will i will do my mudflaps too which require drilling but only a 1/8 hole no biggie

    Rdve80 - Is that Fold-a-Cover weather tight?

The Chevy dealer has been checking my oil level every 200-300 miles since I complained about oil consumption problems. I've put on about 1500 miles since they started checking and the oil is right where it should be. Maybe it just takes longer to break in some engines.
One of the mechanics I talked to said it takes about 5K miles to break in one of these engines. That seemed high to me, but that's what it appears to be for mine.
  • rayt2rayt2 Member Posts: 1,208
I'll get out my receipt when I get home tonight & if the part# is there I'll post it. My daily driver for my 100 mile commute is a 91 CRX...love that car...........the truck stays home for better things.

This will be the 2nd time I've sent you the part#.
Lund part# 18063. It is still available at wrenchead.com for $49.99 and free shipping till 3/31.
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
I know u sent me that part # but at a local parts store i seen the same number in their catolog and the guy told me that is the one you have to drill. Maybe im wrong ill try again

done most of the same mods. as you and I'm waiting for the hypertech too. When are these things going to be out? NOS and Supercharger are a little much though, but good luck. Wish I had the $$$
  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
I have had no problems with windows or anything for that matter. Just the purr.
I figure at about Aug.2001...I will have about 45,000 miles and be getting my 2002 2500 LT then.
I should get good money for this one. A 99 LS 2500 with 36K went for $29K here a little bit ago. 2500's are starved here.

I was wondering if anyone else is annoyed by the fact that the center seat on the front bench seat doesn't fold down to be an arm rest for the driver and passenger? I mean , it wouldn't have been that much trouble for GM to make it where the center seat could fold down into an armrest. I know this sounds somewhat whinny, but I just so used to having an arm rest because I predominately drive with my left arm. I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a way to have to center seat modified to where it could be used as a folding armrest. Besides that, I love my Chevy...

I am going to have a 6" Superlift suspension kit installed on my 2000 Silverado. Superlift says that the largest tire I can go with is something like a Super Swamper SSR 13 x 12.50R16 on an 8" wheel. A recent episode of TNN's "Trucks!" (Project Sinister Silverado) showed them installing Mickey Thompson Baja Claws 35 x 13.5-16LT on Centerline wheels. Mickey Thompson recommends a 10 to 12" rim for that tire. Superlift says this combination will rub. Does anyone know for sure??? I can not order my wheels and tires until I hear from someone regarding the above. Also, Centerline's wheels come in 8" and 9.5".
  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
Silverado in a parking lot while I was going down the road today...and If i had to guess I'd say it had a 6 inch lift with 38's.

I could be wrong of course...

But that was the number that came into mind....I know the tires were at least that....perhaps it had a bigger lift...or a body lift as well??

I don't have any experience with those plugs or wires. I am also waiting for the HPPIII, everytime I call, they say it has not been released yet. Another 2-3 weeks. They tell me this everytime I call; since January!! Also, Hypertech told me that the HPPIII with the Granatelli MAF will cause the computer to trip a service engine soon code. They also said not to run the 160 degree stat with the two. They said 180 at the lowest. I called Truck Performance and they said they have 99's with all the same mods you have, and the HPPIII as well as blowers or supercharges with no problems. He did say at first with the HPPIII, the computer will flash a service engine code, but to disconnect the battery and reset it. He said the computer will relearn the new mod and be fine, he also said the computer has enough variables worked into it to compensate for the new programming. We'll see.

  • kantonkanton Member Posts: 142
The only way I have seen 38's on one of these new Silverado's is with a 6" suspension and a 3" body lift and that was almost to tight. You probably saw a 4" suspesion with a 3" body and 36" tires. That is pretty common around here.
    Kyle
Also I thought your truck was blue, not black?
  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
    Ryan is Blue man....Not me.

    image

Maybe it was that combo?...I was flying down the road....But i could swear they were 38's from a quick glance....they were too huge to be 36's...who knows.

    Good luck

thanks for the update on the Hypertech. On the thermostat...everyone's saying get the 160 not the 180 as the 180 keeps engine temp near stock temp. Just installed PIAA bright whites...wow what a difference. Also installed the overide switch which allows both the low and high lights to be on at the same time. With all this new found lighting, there's no driving in the dark anymore.

    swobig

Just read in the May 2000 issue of Truckin'...Project S.T. Silverado had baseline from stock 5.3 of 202 hp @ 4700 rpm and 241 lb-ft torque at 2800 rpm after adding Whipplecharger, hi flow intake and stainless catback new numbers were 292 hp @ 5100 rpm and 329 lb-ft torque at 3200 rpm. Nasty...

    Jim,
As supplied, it is weather-tight at the hinges and sides. However, for some reason they do not supply weatherstripping for the front and rear (which they did provide years ago when I put one on my old truck). But this weatherstripping is available at any auto parts store. Once that is done, the tailgate sides become the least weatherproof part of the whole system.
  • storchstorch Member Posts: 72
Are the PIAA bright whites replacement bulbs for the standard lights, or are they auxilary lights? Curious where you got them and how much.

  • dropperdropper Member Posts: 47
I went with the Sylvania Clear Blues. Big difference over the stock, and about $20 a pair, on sale. I don't know how they compare to the PIAA's, but they are street legal in all 50 states.

    Whatever happened to Dave40?
  • vince4vince4 Member Posts: 1,268
So far I don't have the water or squeeking problem. Better get it in for fixin before you burn away the 36k warranty!
  • vince4vince4 Member Posts: 1,268
I have my first body creak in the cab. It seems to be in the rear slider frame as near as I can tell. I hear it over small and large bumps. Anyone have this problem? (reg cab LS 5500 miles).

By the way, when I replaced the plastic trim under the rear window after changing the speakers, I pounded on it with my fist to get the clips to seat. I was quite surprised when the ENTIRE rear wall of the truck vibrated, window and all. This thing is built no stronger than the minimum required to do the job.
  • vince4vince4 Member Posts: 1,268
PIAA makes a nice replacement light (model 980) for the lame GM fog lights. It has a super bright driving lamp in half and a fog lamp in the other half yet still fits in the factory spot. I'd love to install a pair but ouch, Peformance Products wants $359 for a set! I thought I was being bold to pay $140 to the factory. Has anyone tried these lights?

I have a friend that used TorqueMaster plugs in his '68 Dodge Charger for quite a few years. He swears up and down that they
helped control an oil buring problem (the plugs don't foul easily). I was not convinced that they really do anything special, and I
hated the fact that (since I did the service work on the car) I needed to pull the plugs out yearly, drive up to El Segundo to have
thekm checked, and get some free replacements ... I would rather have just bought new regular plugs every year and saved the time.

They may work, but I guarantee that if they really did anything special, the automakers, who often have milions of dollars riding on
just a tenth of a mile per gallon in fuel economy, would have bought up this idea years ago. They haven't.

As I recall, it is Autolite plugs that they use to make their plugs. They remove the regular electrode and solder on a "washer."

Yeah, I would check out the injectors and fuel pressure regulator first for sure. But, before spending the mega bucks on that stuff, see if there are any hot rod shops that can put a tail pipe sniffer in and check your air:fuel ratio. If it is near 14.7 throughout the rpm load range, the injectors and regulator will be a waste of money and will give you a rich condition that at the very least will make your emissions and gas mileage get worse. If it is lean go for the mods to bring it back up, but you could probably do that with just the pressure regulator. Running too lean will overheat the engine and could cause damage. I would be interested in hearing where the mixture is now, because with all the extra airflow you have going in, I wonder if the new MAF sensor and HPIII compensate enough and bring the fuel mixture back to 14.7 air:fuel. I know that is what the MAF sensor is there for, but I'm sure the computer program has limits, just curious? I suspect the reason the plug people tell you to put the new injectors and regulator on is because that is how they actually are getting the performance gain. Think about it, if all you do is make a hotter spark in an engine that is already at 96% ignition efficiency, how is that going to improve power noticeably? But if they are increasing the fuel, maybe that is where they are picking up the power. But if I remember correctly, you actually get the best power when on the lean side of 14.7, maybe somewhere in the high 15's? Anyway, what I'm saying is get your truck's air:fuel ratio checked before adding these last mods, because they won't do anything for you if it is already getting the optimal mixture. Sorry for the long post, but I hope I helped save you some serious cash. All the other mods sound awesome, wish those parts grew on trees! Have a great day.

Did go up to $690 im not to happy about this. Im just wondering the print out of the price i am paying has $665 do i have to pay the extra $25? I know this sounds small but they shouldnt change the destination price twice for one model year. I talked to my salesman last night and i couldnt believe this but he offered to pay it. I told him no thats not the point. DAMN general motors damn truck is probably gonna be built 20 min from the dealership and i have to pay $690. Watch something else will probably increase too soon. Oh well there goes my $25 off coupon for the bedliner.

    Ryan
  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
thanks for the info..got some phone calls to make...let's see where this goes.

    Ryan-
I guarantee you'll forget about the $25 when you see your truck...I forgot about the $29,000 when I saw mine and the additional $5K in aftermarket toys.
  • 87lion87lion Member Posts: 166
going up twice in a year is outrageous, especially since the delay was because GM couldn't get the assembly lines rolling very quickly. Sounds like your dealer is OK. Heck, take him up on his offer. Money's money and he'll still be making his.

And if it makes you feel any better note that Ford also jacked their dest to $690. Don't know if Chevy or Ford was first.

Rising fuel prices are hitting us even before we get our trucks.
  • jmesjmes Member Posts: 10
where did you get yoour sylvania clear blue's
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
Yea i think it is because of the gas prices. If it goes up it should be with the new model that is what i am mad about. 99 model yr destination was $640 00 model yr destination was $665 and now 00 model yr is $690 whats 01 gonna be???

The $25 isnt the point to me thats nothing its they shouldnt raise the prices of that till the new model yr like options. Option prices go up with the model yr EX: 5.3 went from $700 to $800 with the 00 model yr. Im not taking the salesman up on the $25 he is a great salesman every thing i have asked him about he did it as fast as he possible could most of the time within a few hrs.

Bedliner and nerf bars are gonna cost me $655.20.

What year truck do you have??? I have a 2000 LS extended cab with the bench seat and it folds down to become an arm rest with no problem.
