I'm getting excited. Ordered the Weathertech visors from MacNeil Automotive ( www.macneilauto.com ) and the Lund Interceptor from www.wrenchead.com tonight. Best prices I've been able to find on both. Free shipping from wrenchead if you order by tomorrow. Thanks to all for the tips and advice.
My truck had a TPW of 3/27. Hope it got built. I'm going to call CS tomorrow to get the VIN.
Low-Temperature Thermostats
Increases Mass Flow Rate of Intake Air
Allows Engine to Cool Down to Lower Temperature than Factory Thermostats
Reduces Engine's Tendency to Detonate
Reduce Temperature of Both the Incoming Air/Fuel Mixture and Combustion Chamber Surface
A Hypertech PowerStat low-temp thermostat improves performance in two ways: first by increasing the mass flow rate of intake air and second by reducing the engine's tendency to detonate.
From the laws of physics, cooler air is denser than warmer air. Since horsepower increases as the amount of air and fuel burned increases, cooler air (with more air molecules per cubic inch) makes more power. The PowerStat allows the engine to cool down to a lower temperature than the factory thermostat to make more power. At the drags, water can be sprayed on the radiator between races to drop the temperature and improve performance, but the PowerStat ensures that you leave the line at the same temperature each run to give consistent maximum performance for bracket racing.
Detonation, usually producing audible pinging or even knocking sounds, refers to the spontaneous explosion of the unburned air/fuel mixture in the combustion chamber. Detonation abruptly and violently ends the normal combustion process, reduces power, and can severely damage the engine. A PowerStat reduces the temperature of both the incoming air/fuel mixture and the surfaces of the combustion chamber, greatly reducing the tendency to detonate, and allows the engine to safely develop more horsepower.
PowerStats should always be used in an engine controlled by a computer to insure consistent performance. Hypertech ThermoMaster Power Chips have been designed to operate with Hypertech PowerStats.

Trucks just are not for racing..
I know...shut up and let you be.....so be it.

Someone on the Camper topic turned me on to www.jegs.com. They by far have the lowest price on Air Lift I've seen ($199 for 5000lb version). If you do buy them, come on over to the Camper topic #1637 for some installation advise. A quick tip, install the valves in the license plate recess of the bumper. That way you can fill both sides while standing in one place, and be able to see the side-to-side level (Mike L idea).
The hell with 5 here and 10 there....Drop in some NOS for 125HP extra right now!
Just for grins...when who ever has there truck all modded out...and kicking [non-permissible content removed] as they see it....get me a 1/4 mile time...with all the mods..

Have a nice day

As for the physics, I note mine are a little over 4 inches diameter, also 100 psi max. 100psi(PI*R^2) for two bags does equal to the 2500 pound rating, or 250 lbs per 10 psi.
The proper way to measure the stock ride height is from the inside of the fender to the center of the wheel hub. This negates any influence of tire pressure on the measurement. Thereafter, adjust the air pressure to maintain the stock ride height.
What I have doubted is their ability to filter air properly. I had one K&N that had sealing leaks. Looked small to the eye, but the Grand Canyon to a speck of dirt. Also noted accumulation of grime inside the intake manifold on my old Mustang. Some say I over oiled it...but I feel safer using stock paper element in my truck.
Thanks for any info you have.

I had an '85 S10 and tried a cooler thermostat but to no avail. Only when I pulled the thermostat out completely did I see any drop in temperature.
Tim i agree with you on the chips all it is a waste of money and why would u want to modify a truck to be so fast??? Wait for the silverado SS and buy that then. OR buy a sportscar if you want speed.
Sorry if i start to seem like im in a really bad mood but gm changing stuff on me is really bugging me i pray the sticker looks half way decent. Ill let you all know what it looks like if i find a truck with one.
Have a nice weekend everyone

About mods...haven't done any in the last 5 vehicles I've owned...don't know what it is with the Silverado that makes me want to add more and more mods even if it's a waste of money.
Thanks
Thanks for the site obyone

THERE IS ONE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HOOD. THERE IS ONE ON EITHER SIDE OF THE HOOD. THEN THERE IS ONE ON EACH SIDE HALF WAY BETWEEN THE ONE IN THE MIDDLE AND THE ONE ON EITHER SIDE. THE OTHER FIFTY PEOPLE ON HERE WHO HAVE STATED THEY HAVE INSTALLED THEIR BUG-GUARDS USING THE EXISTING PRE-DRILLED HOLES ARE NOT LYING TO YOU. WE DID NOT DRILL. WE DID NOT GLUE. WE DID NOT WELD OUR BUG GUARDS ON. WE ATTACHED THEM TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE HOOD USING THE

As your passion is obviously art, and not thermodynamics, you should get the artsy 1999 model!
BTW, thanks for all the info on airbags. I too am a president's club Camping World goofball. Gonna go get my coworker redneck musclecar buddy's Jeg's catalogue right now.
Sorry, Ryan. You take yourself too seriously at times as do most of you youngsters!
Anybody out there ride dirtbikes besides Quad? At the ripe old age of 21 I figured out that I would never be able to afford automotive racing. Bought my firt dirtbike then, and have never regretted it.
THANKS KYLE for the hood info. I appreciate it very much.
Mark im going to change my major to art today i might even go to the art gallery before work today too

Air Ride Control System
$170 at CW with President's Club
$166 at JEG's.
They say I need 6 inches of horizontal space between tire and frame. Gonna go look at lunch.
4.8 supercharged liters pushing this 4000-plus-pound truck to 5.6-second 0-60s with no nitrous, and no internal engine mods. It can be done.
Engine mods include Whipple's supercharger and ECU, Max Xtracter headers and custom 2.5-inch catback dual exhaust system. Cerullo's console and Ultima Trim tart up the interior
DAMN!!! a 4.8 read this article all you modification buffs. Good article
Ryan
Oh no!!..The entire truck is no good now cuz of a sticker!!
Too many people get worked up over the Z71 package...everybody has to have it..yet nobody hardly has a need for it...yet alone even know what it is other than a sticker...
"Come on...
I'm bored...wahhhh!!
Let's talk about Flares or maybe Bug guards some more!!"
(....Sorry....I was posessed by another Poster here...)
Back to normal now...
LOL
( I say if you want to make a Silverado go really fast...Strap an Acme Rocket on the top of the cab like Wile used to do??)

Don't worry though, I'm sure they will put nice red ones on for you. I believe they say "4x4 TUNDRA". ha ha ha...
and 6- screws. I guess the extra plug and screw is for backup in case you drop one and can't find it. As Kyle states, the screws are inserted through the lund into the white plastic squares that were previously inserted into the stamped squares in the underside of the hood. No drilling required..although I used my cordless Makita to insert the screws. Took about 5 minutes which included reading instructions so actually about 4 minutes. Sorry...hope I'm not beating a dead horse. In case you're (your) wondering, I am joking although the story is factual.
Got some neat Utah ride photos...will post a couple when I get 'em scanned.
Did you wish you could get a four banger, seeing as how you are so concerned that your truck LOOKS good but dont want to waste $$ on performance? I am sure if you ever got a girl beside you in your new ride it wont impress her when you get blown off by some ratty looking F**D with a piss on Chevy sticker in the back! Oh well, at least you LOOKED good! LOL!
BTW...got me an older yz250. Its plenty fast, and it dont look too good anymore either!

Oh ya gonna start dual sporting more. Bought one of those big water cooled XR's
It would be a good idea to get the weight reading for the rear axle when a scale is handy. Also load your stuff towards the rear of the travel trailer..(duh).
My truck still isn't here, but I've had my Zaino for over 3 weeks - and yes I've asked the dealer to not touch the truck when it arrives - I don't want them to wash it or wax it when it comes in.
Everybody has their own opinion - and yes my friends think I'm nuts too - I'm becoming obsessed with this truck.
Greg
What are the little changes you'd like to see GM make to the truck? You know after all it is the little things in life that make some of us tick.
Personally #1) I see no reason why there isn't a 5 or 6 disc CD changer in that hole where they keep insisting on putting a cassette deck and #2) why isn't there a power outlet inside the console on trucks with bucket seats? - makes good sense - leave the phone out of site and still able to plug it in (OK - I'll admit that may be part of the cell phone wiring harness, but since not one person anywhere at the dealer or GM could tell me what that option consisted of - I didn't buy it). But look inside the console to the right of the change holder - there appears to be what would be a knock out for a power outlet - I may try adding that one myself.
What do others want to see as little changes to make you life easier?
the only other thing i can think of is knocking out the blank above the inside rear view mirror and make it a cubby. that'd be a great place for a radar detector, sunglasses, etc. other than that...i think this truck is put together perfectly...still no complaints. 3300 miles and counting...
kyle
Couple bikes and junk goes around 800 lbs or so. couple of guys 400 lbs. Dog 80.
Rear axle rated 3800 I think. Figure empty truck puts about 1800 lbs on axle.
I think the stock leaf springs are too low a spring rate.
Whadda yawl think?
Damn, that bab guy is wearing off.....
TIM!!! i am not upset over the sticker anymore i actually like it.
Well off to work now so i wont be able to chat for awhile i hope you guys dont miss me to much

Silverado 1500 4x4 reg cab longbed 4.8L 5spd
The 2035 is the max payload. The 1300 is the slide-in camper rating. Much lower to allow for passengers, fuel, water, supplies, etc in the camper.
My camper weighs 1200lbs, my wife and I almost 350 together, and we exceed 6400 GVWR when ready to go. It doesn't bother me to be 100lbs over, but it bothers my wife, so we have a 2500 on order.
Mike L
Welcome to the next level...aka 2500

You may want to reconsider the no wash part. Most of the trucks I've seen come in with rail dust all over them. Some of it is actually stuck to the paint and reuires a clay bar or acid bath to remove it. Look very carefully at the paint when the truck arrives. If it has (very) small black specks all over the paint (and you can actually feel it), let the dealer remove it. That way they are responsible if they screw it up. GM has a special acid bath that removes it all very well without harming the paint. It does, however, remove the shine. I couldn't get the dealer to agree to use thge clay bar, which I preferred. Your dealer may be different. I watched them do the acid bath and you can actually see the small specs of metal disolving. If you try to put the Zaino Bros polish on before the rail dust is removed, you will embed it into the paint.
I'll accept your congrats when the truck gets here. Right now, I have only an order number to keep me warm, not even a 'born on date'.
My dealer orders once a week, on Tuesday's. I don't know if that is normal or not. But, my order went in on the last day for them to order this year. Last day to order this year is April 3, and that is a Monday. Wheels website still lists 8-14 weeks for these trucks. That puts me into May - June.
A couple more months to save for my down payment.
2500 LS 4x4 6.0L 5spd Reg Cab Long Bed
Dark Carmine Red w/black flares
PYO Aluminum Wheels
MSRP $27768 My GMS Price $24188
Its really weird - I took my truck and went to Kelly Blue Book. If it were a used 99 with 10,000 miles, it would be worth (retail) $27,000, or nearly the MSRP, and more than I'm paying. Not complaining, just mystified.
Mike L
As I mentioned...a 99 with 36K miles..LS..sold here for $29,000.....friggin'nuts man. I paid $30,006 out the door for my 2000 2500 LT with GM discount...
I ain't complaining either!
Carmine is a nice color...I wish it came with Gold on the bottom for an LT...but we have already had this talk before...
Good Luck
- Tim
Hopefully good news, my salesman left me a message today, he was gone when I called back, I'm hoping he is calling to tell me the truck is in, but won't know til tomorrow. If it is, that is 2 days under 6 weeks from time of order. It was built two weeks ago. But I'm not in a huge hurry, my old one didn't sell and I'm out of town all week next week anyway, plan on picking it up next weekend after the financing is squared away.
I'll say it again, a few performance mods are great, not because I want a sports car or that I want a 1/4 mile time of 15 sec. I like to know IF I need to get the jump on a Tundra, Ford or Dodge theres a few extra "balls" available to do so. Like to have a few more truck lenghts from the competition.
Babbler, why don't you start a Silverado website? Like the F150online or tundrasolutions? Lets put that young energetic college degree brain to work!!
