Good deal or I can do better?

grognard - I know your post is from a few months back and not sure if you are still around on the forum. I had a request - Can you please email me this above quote for the EX-L (FWD) that you received for $28,900?

Would really appreciate it. TIA. Hopefully you see this msg soon.

So, I started getting quotes for an EX. I used the online eprice web option and I also sent in a Edmunds request, and stared conversing with one of them. I tried about 5. The first "Hassle Free" price so I "don't have to fight for a good deal" price was $27,545 including $220 doc fee. That was the most expensive. The lowest was $25,945 including a doc fee of $495. The MSRP is 28,450.

This was for a AWD, I tried to get a FWD, but was told there are none in MA and surrounding states? That seems odd to me? I don't think the AWD would matter much to me, as I don't need to go to work when the weather is bad.

I was hoping to get it for 25K, is that something that sounds reasonable if I wait a bit? I am not in a huge hurry. Would I be better off using the email bidding procedure, or talk to someone? Does anyone know how the eprices compare to other options others have used. I am also a Costco member, so could talk to them to see what they have.

Thank you, my last purchase was in 2000, so I haven't dealt with dealers in quite some time. I don't qualify for any incentives.

Reposting: 2018 CR-V EXL AWD - Offer Price

Hello, Can somone suggest if this is a good deal for 2018 CR-V EXL AWD in Minneapolis, MN.

MSRP: 31,825. Offer $29.3K not including taxes, fees registration. Tax is 6.25% and fees & registration ~$500 = $2200 to $2400. So OTD price with be approx: $31,500. Is this a good deal or if anyone else able to get lower than this in the Midwest? Another, If I'm looking to move fast can this justify a better deal?

    Thanks.

From Luther Brookdale, I paid MSRP on EX for EX-L, which is what it looks like you're offering. Maybe try offering a thousand lower and see if you get there. They accepted that offer without much struggle.

    2018 Honda CR-V EXL AWD

    MSRP = $31,945
    Vehicle Price = $29,950 (sale price $29,451 + dealer fee $499)
Options = $0.00 (no extra charge for in-stock vehicles that already has tinting, cargo tray, etc.)
Taxes and DMV fees = irrelevant

This is for Phoenix, AZ area. Because I travel a lot, I engaged with dealers in metro areas for Phoenix, Los Angeles (SoCal), San Francisco (NorCal), and Seattle. This was the best overall offer. I primarily communicated via email.

This offer seems to be about $700 to $1000 higher than others had posted earlier in the year (April/May). Have times changed and this is now a good deal? Or, do I need to be more aggressive / find other dealers? (I could add Oregon and even the east coast)

Other question: given the Gas-in-Oil issue (we will be relocated to cold Seattle at end of year) and the proximity to the 2019 release, should I hold off for another 2 to 4 months and then re-start negotiations once the 2019 version is launched? Or just grab this 2018 now and start to enjoy it?

    Thanks!

Flip flopping from Rav4and now back to the 2018p CRV LX Awd nothing extra.
Buffalo NY... Last offer I got from the only dealer I went to with little to no negotiating,  worked out to:
    $26645 msrp
    -$2750 discount
    +172 doc fees... Grrr
    $24,067 total before taxes
I turned it down,  thinking I can shave $1000 more off it since I didn't have to work for that at all..Would like to do something in next 2 weeks.
    Any thoughts??

Seattle doesn't really get all that cold normally. Some nights a tad below freezing and a little snow once or twice each winter seems typical. Most winter days will be in the 40's with clouds and occasional drizzle type rain punctuated with sun breaks. Of course that changes if you live up in the foothills or mountains. Otherwise, the Puget Sound tends to keep things mostly moderate.

2018 CRV Touring (FWD) is $31,727.82
    Protection Package $498.00
    Tax $ 3222.58
    Title and License $398.00.
    Grand Total. $35,846.40

Anyone from Louisiana want to chime in on this price? Doesn't seem that great compare to all the other deals posted on here. I might not be negotiating hard enough, but don't seem like the dealers want to budge much. I've tried 5 in states and this is the best I can get. Wondering if price is going up because of the steel tariffs?

What would be the best price to offer for EX in MD?. Planning to buy this month and wanted to hear from folks. Also heard something about Oil dilution issue. how bad is this? i have been a Honda owner for life and probably 5th one now. Hate to move to RAV4 or Subaru. Appreciate your thoughts and thanks for your time.

Is the destination fee included in the MSRP. My dealer quoted
    MSRP- $24999+1500(6% md tax)+$895(dest)+$299(title/tag)+$299(doc)
=$27995(OTD) . I am sure there is some room for negotiation. Can someone help where I can reduce?

I looked at it too but it looks like not all the cars are affected so it could be just a few that happens with every brand. I test drove it and it’s great. Tried Rav 4 , rogue. Forester, outback but none of them get close in terms on interior build and comfort.

    Hi,

I am looking at the CRV EX or EXL in southeast GA (7% sales tax). I have sent emails out to several dealerships within about a 2 hour radius to see what kind of pricing I can expect. I feel like my local dealership over-quoted by a lot at $33,100 OTD for an EX model, and looking at your posts that seems in line with my own thoughts. I cannot remember the specific vehicle cost, and they would not allow me to take any pricing paperwork out of the dealership.

So far, I have one internet quote for the EX-L $30,241 OTD/$27,571 vehicle and for the EX $27,831 OTD/$25,318 (supports above thought). Wondering if I should:
    1. Try to get these prices down any further, or is this probably as reasonable as they will get?
    2. Wait for the 2019s and see if the 2018s are discounted any more?
    3. Wait for Black Friday and see if there are any other deals being offered?

Almost every other model I looked at was offering considerable discounts on the 2018s. The Honda sales rep told me they did not need to offer any incentives/rebates/low-rate APRs since they had no trouble selling them. Not really sure where that leaves me. Any advice is welcomed as this is my first car buying experience.

    Thanks!!

If I wait, and compromise on color, is the price likely to come down anymore? I have looked at the pricing on edmunds and true car, as well as gone though the posts here. The prices from the internet quote do not seem unreasonable. However, every other dealership I've been to is discounting the 2018s - just wondering if I should wait it out or if they are unlikely to come any further down on price based on previous years or what others are experiencing now.

I think you may be mistaken on just what other other dealerships are doing. I priced out just about every vehicle that competes with the CRV, and if I just add up the cost of the options on the other vehicles that I want that are included on the CRV-EX AWD, I come up with every one else costing much, much more. The closest I got was the Mazda CX-5, which if I add a remote smart is about $700 more, and the Mazda wouldn't even come with the sunroof (I don't care about it, just that if you wanted one it would even be more). It may be different if you don't want AWD. I would be interested in real world examples if you can point out where I am wrong, as I am open to getting something else, especially due to the oil issue. My numbers come from online price requests, and some with followup.

    Hi everyone,

Got this offer on 2018 EX-L without navigation
    Sale Price 28298.94
    OTD : 30475.52 (includes Sales Price + Doc/License/Taxes)

    MSRP was listed : 30545

Do you think I can get it lower - sent a few emails to other dealers to check their quotes and once of them got back with $30,307 (not the color I want but similar shade).

I was going to go back and try to get it something in 28k and loose change ? Do you think it would work ?

    Thanks.

I've been shopping around on a 2018 AWD CR-V EX.

The best quote I've got so far is $27,750 OTD including all taxes/fees. Most other quotes I've got are roughly $1.5-2k higher. (Massachusetts)

I feel like this is a good? price, but the dealership doesn't offer any extra warranty, which I'm worried about since I've read up a lot on problems with CVT transmissions and the current oil/gas problems.

Yeah, 5-years, 60,000 mile warranty. Some dealerships in my area offer 100/200/lifetime warranty on powertrain. But their prices (at least online) aren't as good.

    I've gotten 2 quotes:
    2018 EX sale price $24,995
    2018 EX-L sale price $27,354

Both are solid offers if dest / charge is included . There are no good deals on in coming 2019 models. I would bet most dealers will be trying to get close to sticker on any 2019's till 18 stock is depleted.

In the NY / NJ area CRV pricing can be had this month for just a few hundred lower than your quoted pricing on both models.

If anyone is buying a 2018 CRV wait till the very end of this month you will make your best deal last 2 days, last day of this month. . The Molton lava pearl color is very limited so If you could nail one down @2k below invoice ( after compensating dealers doc fee charge into price ) or lower don't lose out... buy vehicle.

If anyone needs dealer recommendations let me know

Can somebody please supply the MF, RV and rebates for 2018 Honda CRV EX AWD - 36/12 and 36/15 in ZIP 10804. And if anybody can tell me their dealer offer or actual deal for a lease or sale, that would be great. Thx

Just adding price data for those looking to buy.

    2018 Honda CR-V EX AWD
    OTD 28500
    vehicle 25200
    500 Doc Fee
    200 Nitrofill
    400 Motorvehicle
    7.5 NJ Tire
600 “Accessories” - Dealer originally refused to lower this from 1200, but got them to meet me halfway. IMO, It’s a BS charge for theft insurance and tire locks and who knows what else, but I went to several dealers and this was the best OTD price we could find. They did not disclose this fee until we were sitting down to close the deal. Car dealers should be way more regulated than they are.

Several  Honda dealers I dealt with in NJ are trying to pull the Accessory gouge. Unless your aware of the dealer tricks to scam  customers out of more cash, dealer will be picking your pockets .. That’s why I always preach negotiate all deals online  1st or  with direct phone calls to the internet Mgr. @Penguin , What dealer in NJ did u purchase?

I negotiated a deal yesterday via phone for a friend in NJ . Friends deal was $2842 below invoice for a EXL model with nitro, door edge, window etching, and splash guards Included. I would of negotiated a lower selling price  buying last 2 days, last day this month but my friend did not want to lose out on the color. My selling dealership DCH Kay had models with a 1k added accessory package on them.

@brian125 I purchased at DCH Academy, after working with several dealers in north Jersey. I called in and asked specifically for the OTD price with all fees plus tax itemized in writing via email. Walked in the next morning and had a surprise accessories fee added to the price. I would have walked right out, but it was the best price OTD I could get after talking to several dealers.

I worked at a bank for several years and there were many fees and minute intricacies that were grating to repeat over and over to customers and could often lead to customers walking out the door. But the information was important to share because it was in the customer’s best interest and when the bank was doing its job, it was working to make sure every employee was being 100% transparent with customers about the products they were buying. In my limited experience, this being the 1st time I’ve purchased a vehicle, these car dealers don’t even try to come close to being transparent. Even after asking for OTD price directly I received pushback, and getting an itemization of fees took a couple hours via email. This is a real problem in my eyes. Bottom line, this is very predatory toward the consumers.

I frankly received much better, more honest service from the two Toyota dealerships I talked to when we were thinking about a RAV-4, before we decided on the CR-V.

This dealer doesn’t want to go in details. First they gave me the otd price but after I asked them to give me a breakdown I got this
    Sale price of$26,820
    tax,doc fee, etc $1,880

Not sure what is included in your sale price, but if 26820 is just the price of the vehicle(no tax, etc), you should be able to negotiate lower.

Terrible deal @1492 below invoice price for a end of the year model. If your in no rush wait a few months buy a 2019 model

Seems like many of the different make deals this holiday are on 2018's. I wonder what's with all the leftovers? They are year old cars now, so when you trade them that will be reflected in trade value and probably more price reduction at trade in than the incentives and deals I've seen. As for the CRV, IIRC the gas/oil problem fix will be incorporated in the 2019's. while it appears it may take awhile in the 2017/18's to get it done.
