What I am going to do is go to another Toyota dealership and test drive a 07 Camry. To see if it makes the same clicking sound. If not then I'm going back to my dealer and raise this to their management.
Another thing I thought was weird is that the two front doors will be locked. I can open both front doors without unlocking it. Every car I have drove, you have to unlock it first. They said theres nothing wrong with that either. Yea it sounds dumb of me bringing it up to them, but I just wanted a confirmation that this is a normal function.
2) As to the front doors being able to open from the inside when locked... this is a safety design. They will still be locked from the outside, but for emergence/convenience reasons, the front doors can always be opened from the inside. I had this feature in 4 other cars (different manufacturer) going back to th early 1990's.
This was the norm for domestic cars in the 50s and up to the mid 60s -- when you activated the inside door handle, the front doors would unlock, even if the lock plungers were down initially.
With the advent of federal safety standards in the late 60s, many manufacturers, including GM and most of the imports changed their door locks so you had to pull up the plunger (or if you had power locks, hit the unlock switch), if the doors were locked initially. Otherwise the inside door handle wouldn't open the doors. I think Ford but not Chrysler went along with this system -- it wasn't required by any safety standard. IIRC, GM called these "overriding" door locks.
Today, though, many cars have auto-locking doors. A lot of people don't like getting "locked in" and having to undo the locks separately of pulling open the door handle. So, many manufacturers, including Toyota, have reverted to the decades-old system, where pulling on the door handle unlocks the front doors.
seems to me someone should be able at least to verify all cabling/wiring (I presume a wire harness was used). if that all checks out, me personally, i'd see if a radio/amp swap did the trick.
I dropped my car off, (it now had just over 900 miles on the odometer), and they installed the part. Within the first 2 miles of driving my repaired car, the engine flare came back and was in between all gears, and first gear was slipping every once in a while. After a couple of days of the dealer contacting Toyota about the issue, and trying several of their recommendations, and nothing working, Toyota authorized them to replace my transmission. I'm still waiting for my transmission to come in. Tomorrow I will have owned my car for 45 days, and it has been in the shop for 15 days, and I still do not have a date I will get my car back.
I hope others are having better luck then me.
I have been following this forum for a while now, and actually decided to buy the I-4 instead of V6 after seeing so many owners having trouble with the transimission on V6.
I also found throttle lag in 5A of my 4 cylinder engine, and asked the dealer for software update mentioned in TSB-EG056-06, and have been pretty happy with the fix - 1k miles so far and hasn't seen the throttle lag. Have to reschedule another appointment though, since dealer hasn't been able to fix the squeak in the center console  . So far very happy with the car
I bought my Camry SE, 4cyl automatic in mid-August 2006. I have approximately 6500 miles on the vehicle. I also have a dashboard that "creaks" (seems like it's coming from the passenger side) and from Day 1, have noticed a hesitation of about 3 seconds between depressing the gas pedal to getting acceleration (i.e. when I'm passing someone on the highway). Is this what you mean by "throttle lag?" Did you mention the TSB to the dealer, or did they advise you? How responsive were they? I never brought my vehicle in, as I just assumed that's the way the dashboard and engine / transmission were designed. Also, my best highway mileage to date has been 29.5 (all highway, 60-65 mph) much less than the EPA of 33 mpg. I usually get approx. 28 mpg.
Thank you.

That being said, at 60 mph on the freeway, I can get my trip meter reading up to 37 mpg (but it is 1.26 mpg higher than my actual mileage).
I have averaged over 27 mpg over 10,500 miles 0f 50/50 driving.
Do your own legwork.
Who cares what the dealer may think.
I can tell you personaly it did not fix mine.
On each side of the console these is a plastic part that can pulled back. I used some thin (1/8") neoprene weather strips at some points to fix that.
The bezel around the speed stick was more difficult to fix because there are many contact points. I finally resolved this problem by applying black electrical tape on the top of the black plastic on each side of the cavity in which the shifter draws a sliding plastic cover.
Not clear ? First, unscrew the shifter handle, pull up the aft side of the shifter bezel, then pull up the front side with a slight rearward pull. Once the bezel is disengaged, look at its bottom side. You will see a clear plastic part that is partially aluminized. The bottom side of that clear plastic part creaks when it rubs with the black part mentionned in the above paragraph. Do something (it has to be thin) on that rubbing surface.
I'm so over dealing with this issue that I am on the verge of giving up and just drive with my nice looking vehicle that feels like jumping a few hundred RPMs every now and then.(rpm flare 25-35 mph ~300-1500rpm depending on aceleration)
Okay...now that I got that off my chest. Can we get another forum started just for this particular issue. The dealership keeps telling me that this is an isolated issue and from what I read here, this is not the case. I have told them that I have read posts of others online with similar problems only to get the response of "We only follow Toyota's direction" or along the lines of ...online boards are not a reliable representation in terms of problems with the vehicle. I would like to get a poll of who has this problem and what could be done to get Toyota to remedy this. Trading it in is not a finacially sound option but I will tell you that for my first Toyota to own, unless they can fix this problem, this will more than likely be the last Toyota I will own.
I would like to start this poll of unresolved RPM flares. If you are in the same boat, please respond with the following format. Maybe if we can get some numbers as to how many have the same problem, something can be done before Toyota really looses first time customers like myself or long time loyal ones. If there is a poll already started, please post.
1 - 2007 XLE-V6 purchased May 06, valve body replaced, original transmission
I've also been on other forums about this issue, as I have the once when cold 3rd-4th flare with my 2007 Camry V6.
Check out the Toyota Nation forum for example.
The Lexus ES350 has this same engine/transmission combo, and they're having the same problems.
Check out the Club Lexus forum in he ES350 area.
Recently there has been posts concerning this transmission issue, and it looks like a fix MAY be on the horizon.
Check out this thread at:

As you read and get to the page 3 area, you'll see some posts about what the problem seems to be.
Remember that this applies to our 2007 Camry V6 cars.
The manual recommends 0w-20/5w-20
However, some dealerships are are putting in 5w-30.
After a long period of balancing, re-balancing, changing tires, etc. an employee "quietly" suggested he ask to see the cars history from delivery. It turns out the car was somehow droped and damaged at the time of delivery, Repaired and sold to him. Armed with this information, he got the dealer to check all four "wheel hubs"(?) the part your wheels are lugged onto, found at least one to be defective, and somehow changed it or repaired it, and, problem fixed. I actually was never in the car either before it was repaired or after, but he says all was ok after that. May not have anything to do with your problem.........but who knows. By the way, he described his problem as so bad, sometimes at higher speeds, the dashboard would shake. Hope it works out for you. New car should not have "the shakes".
I already had the valve replacement done and that did not fix the problem. I drove around town quite a bit today and noticed that if I was parked for an extended period(like at a long red stop light or left the car running while parked) it flared most everytime.
Just so that I am on the same page with others who are questioning what exactly is happening. The following link was left on a post in this forum a few weeks back with videos of the problem by corton. Many Thanks for the video documentation.

This is all a reality. Buyer beware
As for potential criticism from anonomous BB posters, I can take it!! They just need to hear that the problem Camry's are a tiny % of the Camry's sold....
