I probably would have bought a Limited since the price isn't that much more than an SE with leather. But we were told that they aren't shipping them to the US right now. In fact, it was almost impossible to find an SE with the leather premium package.
No they are wrong. I got Veracruz Limited last Thursday from a dealer in my town. It is white one. I am very happy to be a first owner of Veracruz Limited in the town. It is so much pleasure to ride the car.
It is just limited. But I am totally satisfied. I don't need to have DVD player even though I have 2 kids. I've already got leather seats. No need to have 600W premium audio, limited has 300W audio I believe. No need to have keyless entry, seat memory...... Limited std. options are good enough.
Oh well. Wrong information from a Hyundai dealer again. I can live withour the dual climate control, power passenger seat, auto tailgate, etc. but it would have been nice.
Few dealers, Hyundai or otherwise, tend to know the whole story about their vehicles. Dealers would much rather sell inventory they have rather than trying to find what they don't.
The windshield wiper situation you are describing is definitely NOT normal. I have a Veracruz, and actually one of the most noticeable things about it is that you can't see the wipers at all from the drivers' seat when they are at rest. I'd definitely complain to the dealership about it.
I've been driving my Veracruz for several weeks now, and just in case gas mileage is a factor for anyone making a buying decision, I'm getting 24 mpg. I can't recall what the advertised ratings are.
I'd say my driving pattern is about 15% highway, 85% non-highway.
I would imagine. My 2000 Dodge Intrepid wouldn't even get that mileage with that driving pattern. Please keep us informed on what kind of mileage you get with future tanks. I hope you can keep reproducing mileage numbers like that.
How do you like your new Veracruz? My husband and I looked a couple tonight, but wanted to know how current owners feel about them. It is a very attractive vehicle. We have 3 children and are wondering how the 3 row seat works....being that they 2nd row seat needs to be folded down in order to get to the 3rd row. Please let me know what how you are doing with your new Veracruz, any info will be greatly appreciated.
Sorry, my replies aren't ending up where they should. Must be doing something wrong.
Anyway, I have a liquid silver SE with the leather premium package. So far, I need a new wiper motor, there are scratches on the chrome around one of the windows, (they're replacing that also) and I haven't mentioned the flaw on the dash that is lighter than the rest of the vinyl. (or whatever the material is) Although rather small, it still irritates me to no end. I've also noticed that after having driven it for awhile, the leather seating area on the driver's seat seems to be flexible or loose. This may be normal also. Don't know. I just hope I don't have to do an initial quality survey. This is our third Hyundai in the family and the first one that's had any problems.
We had not planned on considering a Veracruz when we went to look at the other SUV's, but once we drove it we were hooked. We do not need all of the bells and whistles that come with the SE and the Limited so we were going to go for the GLS with premium package. Unfortunately, when reading other posts this morning I found that you cannot (at least I don't think you can) get a roof rack with the GLS. Does anyone know if this is true? Is this something that can be added by a "car customizer" company? I don't think it makes any sense to pay $3,000+ just for a roof rack. Thanks
We have 3 children and are wondering how the 3 row seat works....being that they 2nd row seat needs to be folded down in order to get to the 3rd row.
The second row does not need to be folded down in order to get to the 3rd row. There is a latch at the upper corner of either side of the 2nd row, which will allow for the second row to be moved forward for easy access into the 3rd row entry and exit.
You may want to check to see if the roof rack is a DIO (dealer installed option) or PIO (port installed option). Some of the available DIO's don't show up on Hyundai's website. A knowledgeable dealer should be able to help you out with this.
Many parts like this are available to be imported from Korea for install. There is nothing available yet at Korean Auto Imports yet, but if you look at all the parts available for the new Santa Fe, I'm sure there will be.
Does anyone know if accessories really exist for the Veracruz? My cargo tray has been on order forever, my all weather mats haven't come in yet, and no one seems to know if a hood deflector really exists.
No hood deflector yet as far as I can tell, but after a while, there should be alot of accessories. Check out Korean Auto Imports from time to time. The Santa Fe has a ton of accessories now so I'm sure it won't be too long before the Veracruz gets more too.
Thanks. But there is a Hyundai dealer, Gary Rome Hyundai, that advertises all kinds of accessories on line, including a hood deflector, but they have very little if anything in stock. I have a cargo tray on order from the dealer where I purchasd my Veracruz, and its been 3 weeks now. So I would assume Hyundai actually has these products, you just can't get them.
"leather seating area on the driver's seat seems to be flexible or loose"
My Veracruz is now a month old and I do not have any problems with my leather seats. I recommend that you get the dealer to rectify this problem. Why else id many of us pick Hyundai, because of the warrenty of course.
Has anyone purchased anything from Gary Rome Hyundai online? I am looking for a cargo mat but the site Gary Rome has no pictures. Are they really Veracruz accessories?
“It looks like a Lexus,” noted one journalist, when he rested his eyes on Hyundai’s 2007 Veracruz Limited, a mid-size crossover with seven-passenger seating. And indeed, the folks at Hyundai did mention the pricier 2008 Lexus RX350 several times. Subliminal suggestion?"
The SE is $1700 more expensive. I have yet to see very many accessories for the Veracruz. They should be available at some time I would guess due to the volume of the accessories available for the Santa Fe now.
The mileage is very important to me being I put on about 80 miles hiway a day. Can people please share what you get with highway driving. I saw one post that looked a bit off, but one never knows. thanks Frank in NJ
I am considering buying a 2007 Veracruz SE or Limited this year, but am wondering if anyone has heard if Bluetooth or an iPod jack will be included on the 2008 model. Does anyone know when the 2008 models are expected to be released? Thanks so much!
I have heard there is an ipod jack option available at the dealership for the 2007. There is no vehicle-integrated bluetooth currently available. I've heard the nav and the other mentioned options will all be available for 2008, but I don't know when the 2008 model will be released.
Thanks for the info! To clarify, you've heard that navigation and an integrated Bluetooth is planned for 2008? Also, do you know any details about the iPod jack option? Do you know how it is connected and where?
Yes, I have heard those things. They are floating around in lots of forums and articles about the Veracruz. I don't really have any details about the iPod option though.
I promise this will be the last negative post I make but the initial fit and finish on my Veracruz was awful for a vehicle which is being compared to a Lexus.
I noticed a small quarter size discolored area on the passenger side of the dash. It's a little lighter then the rest of the black dash. I was going to show it to the dealer hoping that they could touch it up so I wouldn't notice it. However, I ran my hand over it the other day and it's more then just a light patch. There's actually an indentation in the dash. Perhaps it has something to do withe the air bag. Has anyone else noticed anything like this?
Hope you've learnt a lesson....never ever buy the first year production model of any vehicle period. Does not matter whether it's a Lexus, Toyota, MB, Honda etc they all have gremlins in that first year of production that need to be sorted out.
If no one buys them the first year, they won't be around to buy the second year. :P

Something I haven't seen from Hyundai for awhile - a $500 competitive rebate on the Veracruz, for June. It's the only Hyundai (at least in my area) that has a competitive rebate.
In a recent comparison test in the latest edition of MotorTrend, the AWD Veracruz beat the RX350. It also ran a 0-60 time of 7.7 seconds, which is faster than the times they recorded in another comparison test for the AWD CX-9 (8.1) and AWD Acadia (8.2).
Just read the article this morning. One of the few times a Hyundai has taken 1st in a comparo done by a major automotive mag.
Maybe reviews like this will encourage more people to at least look at the Veracruz; that has been a problem for Hyundai in general:
When a group was shown the [Veracruz] without any identifying logos on it, 71% said they'd buy it. Once the Hyundai logo went on, however, that dropped to 52%. In the same research, a Toyota logo lifts intent-to-purchase by more than 20%.
If you are currently a registered owner of an eligible competitive vehicle, you can receive an additional $500 off a new 2007 Hyundai Veracruz. Offer cannot be combined with Valued Owner Incentive. See your dealer for complete details. Eligible competitive vehicles include: Buick Rainier, Chevrolet Suburban, Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Trailblazer, Ford Excursion, Ford Expedition, Ford Explorer, Ford Freestyle, GMC Acadia, GMC Envoy, GMC Yukon, Honda Pilot, Isuzu Ascender, Jeep Commander, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Mazda CX-9, Mercury Mountaineer, Mitsubishi Endeavor, Mitsubishi Montero, Nissan Armada, Nissan Murano, Nissan Pathfinder, Saturn Outlook, Subaru B9 Tribeca, Toyota Highlander, Toyota Land Cruiser, and Toyota Sequoia. This program is effective from June 01, 2007 through July 02, 2007.
I'd appreciate any owner feedback on the ultimate package for the limited. Specifically, your experience so far with the proximity keying system (does it work or is it a gimmick?). Also, the upgraded saddle leather. Is it truly an upgraded leather or just a unique color. Does anybody knows how it looks with the silver exterior. Finally, any female impressions of the saddle color (considering a Veracruz for my wife). Any other observations would be appreciated.
I just bought the veracruz and I love the feel and the ride of the car but for some reason those blue dashboard lights are a little much. Maybe I just have to get use to it. My question is can I change the lights? Are they actually blue bulbs or a white bulb with a blue cover? Can I replace the bulbs with a different color? Is there ANYTHING I can do other then dimming the lights? I do whatever I can. Please help.
Proximity key has been around for a number of years now, mostly in more expensive models than this. In most cases, it really works well, but Nissan just had a recall due to certain models of cell phones erasing the key when the cell phone rang in close proximity to the key. I don't really have anything else to add since I haven't actually driven one with the ultimate package. :P

Yes, they are standard options of Limited.

There are a few comments that reveal their take on this vehicle.
The Veracruz is another wow vehicle from Hyundai—as in “Wow, this is really good,” and not just for a Hyundai.
This begs the question: Who would pay $30,000 or more for a Hyundai? With the Veracruz, the better question might be: Who wouldn’t?
Enjoy!

That was written back in 2003 - link.
Note the word often in there - ymmv.
