Does anyone know how many days a car will maintain sufficient charge to start the car -- many cars are parked for days at airports. etc.
Thanks,
Here's what I would do.......at night, get inside the back seat of the Veracruz and close all your doors and lock car with remote. Wait a couple of minutes and look in the rear cargo area and front seat area for a light that remains lit. Assuming you find nothing on I would then check for dark current(you may need the help of someone electrically experienced). What you do is disconnect the negative battery terminal and connect an ammeter in between the battery post and battery cable. I would expect to see a very small amount of current flow for only the radio clock....Something in the low milli-amp range. If you see something significantly higher you have something in the electrical system drawing current.
Of course it is always possible your problem is far simpler and you simply have a weak battery(which is easy to test for with a battery load tester).

I'm over 6' and thought I could find a comfortable position with my manual seat, but after a week I've decided i need a power seat.
Anyone know of where/how i might find a used one? Anyone want to trade a power seat for a manual one???? Tee hee...
My wife has no tears in left eye secondary to 9 hour brain surgery five years ago to save her life. Result: she avoids breezes/air flow onto her face in car, because it causes pain in her eye and can introduce airborne dirt/specks onto eyeball surface which everyone else reading this message can wash off with an application of tears and a blink of an eyelid
have searched for answer and even asked salesperson last Wed in Nashville and have no definitive answer........

The Dual-Zone functionality in the Veracruz Limited has a 'Mode" button which selects where the airflow is directed, such as feet only, face and feet, feet and defrost, defrost only, etc. This "Mode" selection is SHARED by the driver and the front seat passenger. However, the upper level air ducts (2 each for the driver and front passenger) can each be independently turned on or off at will. This would permit you to select face and feet and still permit your wife to shut off the face level ducts on her side. Each person would still have independent temperature control for their side. This functionality is also available for the second row passengers who have a shared (but separate from the front) temperature control, but passengers there can also independently turn on or off their face level vents on each side.
My question is that I can't find any info on the corporate web site that explains the 4 wheel drive system. To add to my confusion, there is a button on the dash above your left knee that locks the 4 wheel drive system. I don't know if it is AWD all the time and when you push the button to lock, that it changes to true 4 wheel drive or if it is two wheel drive until you push the button, etc, etc. If some one could point me to a link that would be great. My salesman was so new he really wasn't much help. Thanks in advance. Jack
is adding aftermarket xenon kit for headlights on new Veracruz a recipe for trouble/voiding a warranty?? Thanks.
i'll take it to the dealer when i get time. it's a 2007 v6 veracruz
thanks Randy
It appears there is no way of checking Transmission fluid???? can anyone confirm this? I checked the manual and engine compartment....No dipstick for tranny found.

It is not the same system as the Santa Fe uses, which is a Borg Warner.

Just curious....
I have had my VC for four months and think the quality and engineering is great. I have had no problems whatsoever.
Coming from a Lexus RX 300 and also having a Toyota 4Runner, I have a frame of reference and a basis for my opinion. Both are great cars, and not perfect. I would say that my VC stacks up very nicely to my RX 300 and then some even with the 350 at about $9K less.
Have you heard about the oil foaming/sludge problem on Toyota and Lexus engines? THAT to me is far more serious risk/defect than a downshifting thump or a keyless entry that activates in your pocket. They had to extend the warranty on the engines due to that very problem.

Even the "big boys" have their problems....and, nothing is perfect.
Basically, if you don't push the buttion to lock, VC automatically controls distribution of power between rear wheel and front wheel in accordance with road conditon. I remember that maximum ratio is 50(rear):50(front) and minimum is 10(rear):90(front)
However, If you push the button to lock, VC maintains distribution of power between rear wheel and front wheel as 50:50 until its speed goes up to around 30 miles but if its speed exceeds 30 miles, the lock is automatically released and VC automatically controls the distribution again.
I am 6'1" tall and I too have the same problem. I purchased the VC GLS (cloth manual seats) in July '07. We only have 5000 miles on it and I absolutely hate the driver seat position. Unfortunately, when we went to first buy it, our local dealer had no other VC models in stock. I so wish I bought the power seat option.
I am completely unable to find a position that is comfortable, except by pumping the seat all the way down. Even then, my legs and thighs are way out front of the seat.
I called Hyundai consumer affairs and they would not do anything because, as my service advisor said, the seat is operating as designed. I would even pay to have the seat swapped for the power one, but they would not do it.
I am very, very close to trading this in for another non-hyundai vehicle. The difficult thing is that the car is for my wife and she likes it. SHe only wishes I bought her the Lexus RX model, but we do not have the cash.

If this is primarily your wife's vehicle, how does SHE like the seats? That would seem to me to be the question.
You can find a used RX 350/330/300 for about what you paid for your VC GLS new. Shop around more with your next purchase and I'm sure things will work out better.
I decided to raise the front of my seat by adding 3 large nuts between the floor and the seat frame. I can't remember the size of the nuts, but I made sure that they were big enough to slide over the bolt without having to worry about the thread pitch.
I could still use another bolt's worth of height, but could not fit it because the mounting bolt would not align with the hole in the floor at the correct angle to engage the threads without stripping.
It's not ideal, but it has kept my sciatic nerve from acting up too much.
Here's the intro:
Long-Term Test: 2008 Hyundai Veracruz SE AWD
Your experience of adjusting the mounting nut is eye opening for me. For me, the problem is the front end of the butt cushion is too high. I could either raise the rear end by putting more nut or lower the front end by removing some.
I am wondering where do you get the intruction on how to do this or you just did intuitively. Any input will be grateful.
Thanks
i just came up with this idea myself. I cannot guarantee that this mod is completely safe, as there may be some impact on the stability of the seat frame if you are in an accident.
I have a Cadillac CTS, which is a very good car, but I need more visibility, cargo room, and comfort for my back, so I test drove quite a few CUVs/SUVs in a search for the vehicle which suits my needs..
After weeks of internet and in-person shopping, my decision came down to the Lexus RX350 and the Veracruz.
After comparing both vehicles feature for feature, I chose the Veracruz. It has been in my driveway for two days now, and several neighbors have come over to look at it.
The response is generally along the lines of "That's a Hyundai???"
I took some of them for a drive in it, and they were highly impressed with the quietness, the smooth ride, the features, etc.
Aside from the obvious delight I take in the Veracruz and my neighbors' appreciation of its features, I'm extremely pleased with the dealership.
I live 35 miles from the dealership, and the service manager and salesman drove that distance (and back to the dealership) to help me get my new Veracruz home.
I didn't trade my Cadillac, and I'm a single woman who didn't take a buddy with me to the dealership. Thus, without my asking, the sales manager offered to have the two men help me get across the bay back to my home in Baldwin County, AL.
In addition to getting a good deal on the car, the dealer also filled my gas tank. How's that for service?

Disgruntled winter driver
You can have the dealer program the door locks to open all doors when the drivers door is unlocked or conversly lock them. I'm not sure if the key fob can be programmed this way through.
Personally I'd invest a set of dedicated snows and rims if you drive in snow often and save the OEM's for summer use.
The midsize SUV segment featured the most Top Safety Pick vehicles, including the Hyundai Veracruz.

My wife & I are looking at SUV's and have it narrowed down to two.
The Nissan Murano and the VeraCruz.
Does anyone know when Hyandai will add the back up camera to the Veracruz?
My wife really likes the feature, but as far as we can tell, it has not been added yet. But, we hear about it!
Any and all help on this would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Dave
Though I do hear a click whenever I press the ESC off button. Is that normal?
When I start the engine, both ESC - ESC Off illuminates as normal.
I am bringing it to the dealer today.
ESC Off indication is shown when pressed.
