    DUH!!

I did try my ratchet and phillips bit but never thought about turning the wheels.

Perhaps that is why I don't install mud guards for a living... I'd starve.

Anybody know of a source for a "wood" covering for the metal part of the console? Everyone I try shows either the complete inside of the car or the whole dash and console.
  • allmet33allmet33 Member Posts: 3,557
You don't like the aluminum covering on the center console? One thing I like about it...it's WAY more durable than than the faux wood covering. That stuff scratches way to easily. My '02 Sonata had the faux wood on the center console that got scratched by the hose from a vacuum cleaner a couple times. I'm definitely a fan of the dimpled aluminum covering.

Just "GOOGLE" wood dash kit....you have several choices
You will need a bank loan to buy a kit Ave about $180
they won't split kits..it's all or nothing
If you buy the full kit and use all the pieces IMO you will take a fine interior and make it look like a clown car

I'm not sure why you guys are buying these parts, mine came with mud guards and all 4 wheels. You guys have the limited editions correct?
  • msazzyindcmsazzyindc Member Posts: 118
Have you guys seen this new body kit? It would look really nice on a guys car, i'm not sure sure abotu a woman driving it but it looks sporty. Personally it takes away from the luxury look and make it look more sporty. Anywho here's the link body kit

Allmett33 that first picture looks soo sweet! I want mine to look like that except for the shark fin :) :P
  • msazzyindcmsazzyindc Member Posts: 118
This is one of the main reasons I got the black on black interior. I also participate in an online chat with Pat Goss (notable car guy) and he suggested I use Metgor (sp?) leather UV treatment on my seats and they look totally fresh whew! Now I want my outside to look like Allmet33 and I'll be cooking with grease... :D

The mud guards are not standard equipment on the Azera Limited even with the ultimate package.
  • msazzyindcmsazzyindc Member Posts: 118
Wow well mine weren't listed as separate cost, I guess I got lucky because I have the premium package.

I'm still searching for a person who has installed a Motorola IHF 1000 in their Azera and has it wired thru the Infinity sound system to automatically mute radio when phone is in use.
  • msazzyindcmsazzyindc Member Posts: 118
A poster by the name of CIndy has installed one on her car. Check back through old posts because I saw it last night.
  • allmet33allmet33 Member Posts: 3,557
Thank you Msazzyindc...I'm not done yet though. I plan on getting that body kit you mentioned in another post. I think it's sporty, but keeps the classy lines of the car. What's wrong with a woman driving it??? I see plenty of women in our area driving sported out rides now. My opinion...do what moves you! I've got a few things in store or my ride, at some point I'll start entering it in car shows.

So...you want some help with your black Azzy, huh? ;) Shoot me an email, I'm sure we can work something out.
  • allmet33allmet33 Member Posts: 3,557
The biggest change, of course was the wheels. Picking the right ones makes all the difference. I started looking before I even bought my Azera and I didn't pick a set until after I had it about 8 months. I don't know...I guess I'm just anal about stuff like that as I don't like my cars to just look like I threw something on there.

Trust me...I've got some plans for this car. It will truly be a one of a kind!
  • allmet33allmet33 Member Posts: 3,557
There are plenty of rims to choose from. There is actually another black Azzy rolling around the MD/DC area with some rims on it, and the pillars between the side windows have that chrome trim too (not a fan of that personally), but I think she might have 18's on hers. It looks okay, maybe better without the chrome between the windows, but again...that's just my opinion.

I went to a place called Atlantic Window Tinting on Richie Rd. From the Beltway, take the Central Ave. Exit towards DC. At the light for Richie Rd., make that left (you'll see the McDonald's). After you make the turn, start looking on your left hand side for the sign. They charge $99 for whatever tint you choose. They don't offer a lifetime warranty, just 5 years. Their reason for this is that most folks don't keep their cars longer than that (makes sense). Only problem with them...they are a first come, first served type operation. My advice, get their like 30-45 mins before they open to be one of the first. After that, you could wait all day long.

There's another place I can send you though, but it's up in Glen Burnie...Vivid Motorsports. It's a shop owned by a guy named Dan, just tell him you were refered by another Azera owner named Mike, he'll know who. He'll take good care of you. By the way...this is the shop that installed my side marker lights. You can schedule a day and time to bring it in and he'll take care of you.

I don't have the window vent shades for the side windows as of yet. The only ones I could find have to be affixed to the outside of the door around the windows and that would cover up the chrome trim and I don't want that. I'm looking for the ones that install in the channel around the window. When I find those...then I'll add them. However, if you go with the regular ones...it's a peel and stick process you can do yourself. The only thing you need to be sure to do is to clean the area they'll be sticking too with some rubbing alchol to get any oils, waxes or anything else that may stop the adhesive tape from sticking. Once you do that, just line it up and apply it. Press firmly all the way along the piece and you're done!

As far as the 'down payment program' that Ken Dixon offers, I think you have to have bought your car from there to get it. However, if you start spending your money out there, I don't see why you couldn't ask about it. Maybe they do offer it to those that get their work done there regardless to ease you into buying from them later on down the road.

Which, by the way...was the best buying experience I had. I told them the terms I needed, filled out the papers and they slid me an offer sheet with a price that was lower than the MSRP at the time. So not only did I pay less for the car, they gave me the terms I needed to get it out the door. They didn't have the one in stock I wanted, but they found one for me up in Rockville and brought it down for delivery. No fuss, no muss! ;)
  • msazzyindcmsazzyindc Member Posts: 118
Cool thanks for all of the info. $99 Can't beat that with a bat, you sure that's for all 7 windows? WOW!

I saw a link around here somewhere for the window guard thingys and I downloaded the installation manual and it goes up underneath the outside covering made especially for the Azera. I have it saved as a favorite on my computer at home. I hope I remember to post the link later on tonight for you. Just remind me. :)
  • allmet33allmet33 Member Posts: 3,557
Yes...that is how much I paid for mine. Now one thing you need to be aware of...they use a metalized tint which will slightly affect the reception for your radio. There is a way to counter that though...you can purchase an FM signal booster that can be installed rather easily by someone that deals with car audio such as myself. ;)

I noticed a change in my radio reception as have a couple other folks too. However, I don't listen to radio too much for it to be a big issue for me. I will be adding the FM signal booster down the road though.

I would appreciate that link, that's exactly what I've been looking for. You're so sweet!!!

Check your carspace email inbox in a few mins.
  • msazzyindcmsazzyindc Member Posts: 118
Well now that's adding an additional cost to the whole procedure. :surprise: They don't have regular tint? I got a quote for $150 near my home, they do pretty good work, but I don't know if its metalized (is that what gives it the mirrored look? If so, I don't want that, I want the sexy tint...LOL

I think I disabled the email feature, let me turn it on, then turn it off in the next 20 mins. It keeps the spam out of my inbox...lol
  • allmet33allmet33 Member Posts: 3,557
Trust me, it's worth it. You can find a signal booster for like $15. You can get regular tint, but...it'll fade and turn blue on you in about a year or two. The metalized tint is more durable, scratch resistant and will not fade at all.

No...I don't have the mirrored look on mine. I know what you're talking about though. Mine is the smoke tint at the MD legal limit of 35%. You can go 20% and you shouldn't have any problems as that's what's on most SUV's from the factory. I really don't like the darker tint look on the Azera as seen on the one running around MD/DC/.

For $150...it better be the metalized film. Just tell them you want the regular smoke color, not the mirrored smoke tint.

Let me know if you got my email. You get spam in yours? I don't get any spam in my carspace mailbox...one of the things I truly love about it!

Try www.weathertech.com. They show window ventshades for the Azera and explicitly state that "no" exterior tape is needed or used.

Yep that's it! Thanks for the link. This is where I downloaded the installation manual and it goes underneath the chrome finish, custom for the Azera.
  • allmet33allmet33 Member Posts: 3,557
Perrrrrrrrrfect, this has just been added to my wish list for things I want to do for my Azera!!! ;)

I've gotta ways to go before it's show ready, but once I lay out my plan and get it into action...I'll be good to go!
  • msazzyindcmsazzyindc Member Posts: 118
I just want the tint and the window shields. Having any luck hitting the lottery and am able to do everything to my home that I would like, I would then add an indash nav system. Until then I may just get a portable one.

Oh and I would like to add the bluetooth. So that's going to run me about $1000. A girl needs to tile her bathroom oh decisions, decisions...LOL
  • allmet33allmet33 Member Posts: 3,557
I can understand that. I prefer the portable ones to be honest, can take it in any vehicle you're in.

You can spend $1000 if you want to, but you can buy an aftermarket radio that come with bluetooth and get it installed for much less than that! Before you ask, yes...it is VERY easy to replace the radios in the Azera.

    Pioneer Bluetooth Radio

    Sony Bluetooth Radio

    JVC Bluetooth Radio

    Check your inbox too. :)
  • msazzyindcmsazzyindc Member Posts: 118
No, I was implying that to get EVERYTHING done will run me about $1k I'll be darn if I put a thousand dollar radio in my CAR paahlease.....LOL

If you are talking about the email address in your profile (which I think you are), spambots cannot get it there. You have to be a registered, logged in member to see it, so those automated webcrawlers will never find it there.

If you are talking about your CarSpace email account, you can set it to only receive email from other CarSpace accounts. That should help, but I agree with allmet33 - I've never seen spam in mine.

    Hope this helps. :)
  • allmet33allmet33 Member Posts: 3,557
Actually...for the three things you want, if you pay anything close to $1000, you're getting ripped off! I mean...between the tint and the window shades...that's $200 and the shades you can install yourself.

As far as what to do with the Bluetooth issue... There is one or two folks that have posted about adding Bluetooth to the factory stereo. Advantage...you keep the steering wheel controls. If you replace the radio with one that has built in Bluetooth, it's simpler, you lose steer wheel controls, but...most of them come with a remote anyway. I replaced my radio and I don't miss the steering wheel controls since I have a remote. It just boils down to what you think works best for you.

One thing I will say, changing the radio offers a sound upgrade as well. If you think the factory radio sounds good, aftermarket ones will almost alway sound better.
  • msazzyindcmsazzyindc Member Posts: 118
    I'm thinking tint - $150 chaa ching
window guards + Labor - $120 chaa ching
    Portable Nav - $600 - double ching
    Bluetooth + labor - $249 - semi ching

Total - $1119 (give or take a few)

I haven't even entertained the thought of an upgraded radio...LOL
  • msazzyindcmsazzyindc Member Posts: 118
I just looked at the video and heck they have a woman installing the guard (i'm in luck so I'll update that price to $89.95 plus s&h....lol :shades:
  • allmet33allmet33 Member Posts: 3,557
Well...you can shave a few bucks off by going to Atlantic...$99.

Don't know why someone would charge you $30 to install the vent shades on the side windows.

Portable navs are nice, but as long as I have internet and a GPS enabled cell phone...that's money being spent elsewhere! ;)

Contact the folks at Vivid Motorsports and find out how much they'll install Bluetooth for you. I don't know where you priced it out, but if you selected Circuit City or Best Buy...they are a joke!

I only suggested the radio w/ Bluetooth as an option. I'm not sure how well the aftermarket Blutooth will integrate with the factory stereo. If you buy a radio that has it built in, then it's completely integrated already.
  • msazzyindcmsazzyindc Member Posts: 118
I just got off the phone with Weathertech and they said that they only offer the custom guards in a light smoke color and not the black as pcitured, so for all of you who have dark or black cars this option is out.

You can take a look to see what the light smoke looks like by typing in Sonata as your car choice then look at the Alt view #4.

Hope this helps, now back to the drawing board. *sighs*
  • allmet33allmet33 Member Posts: 3,557
Well...the light smoke works for me as I have the 35% tint on my windows. It's not that dark black look that most go with. ;)

Then again, if you hold off long enough...they may offer one in the darker finish you want. It's not black, it's just a really dark tint.

As far as your nav unit, look on Ebay for one. I shop on there regularly and have always had a good experience. That coupled with saving lots of coin...why not!!!
  • msazzyindcmsazzyindc Member Posts: 118
Well yes indeed I checked Best Buy, I'm a clueless woman. I though you knew ;)

Installation charges - again I'm a woman and we don't know better well at least that's what they think so we always get charged more for anything involving a car

I don't have internet on my cell phone, shoot I hardly use it as it is now.
  • allmet33allmet33 Member Posts: 3,557
Nah...you're not clueless, just mis- or un-informed. However, reaching out in this forum allows you to become informed and now you know! ;)

The other drawback to Best Buy or Circuit City...it's hard scheduling a day to get your car in there. I had a guy bring me his car to install his radio, speakers and add an amp and sub because Best Buy wouldn't be able to get him in for like 2 months. He also saved a lot of money going with me too, while still achieving the same results. :shades:
  • allmet33allmet33 Member Posts: 3,557
I believe this would really look nice on the pedals and bring out the silver accents in the car a little more too. They've got the gas pedal, brake pedal, e-brake pedal and foot rest cover. I think this will be added to the wish list as well!!!

Your car is going to be blinging all over town..LMBO :D What next the gas cover? I forget somebody on here has crystals too...Guys are fuuuuny.

Although if you're entering into shows and stuff you can go as far as putting an aquarium in the back seat with lava lamps...LOL Ok I'm being silly.
  • allmet33allmet33 Member Posts: 3,557
Nah...can't do the gas cover, this isn't a racing car. It still have to represent grown & sexy! ;)

I've seen those crystals they have for sale. I shall not resort to those bamafied methods to get attention! LOL

An aquarium would add too much weight and the handling of the car would be compromised. However...lava lamps, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! LOL

Nah...don't get it twisted, when it's all said and done, it's gonna stay grown and sexy. You will not confuse it with your neighbor's son's Fast & Furious wanna be! ;)

RE. 567 I just got off the phone with Weathertech and they said that they only offer the custom guards in a light smoke color and not the black as pcitured

This is correct, I ordered the light smoke. My wife installed them because she is left handed, has smaller fingers and said "it was a breeze".
  • allmet33allmet33 Member Posts: 3,557
I'm sure the light smoke ones look good as well, am I right?

Re 575: They look fine, and next to the black exterior don't really look that "light". These are great on a rainy day too, letting just enough fresh air in. Have them on the wife's Santa Fe too.
  • allmet33allmet33 Member Posts: 3,557
If you've taken pics and stored them on your PC, you can upload them to the album section of your Carspace page. Once they are there, you can either have folks look at your page or post the URL of the pics which is located below each of the pics when you view them.

That's right, you're the one with the chromed factory wheels! Nice look! I take it you're in one of those states that don't allow you to tint the front side windows, huh? That sucks.
