Re 583. Thanks, and yes...in CA you are assumed to be a terrorist if front sides are tinted. I did however have a drop down done on inside windshield just below level of rear view mirror. Works great in early AM sun.

Funny..one of the sunniest states and you have to leave the front windows naked. Just doesn't make any sense!
  • msazzyindcmsazzyindc Member Posts: 118
Your right they don't look bad! It would probably look even darker with tinted windows. I'm going to get them. Woo Hoo!
  • msazzyindcmsazzyindc Member Posts: 118
Dear that link is to a DC gov't website. Are you trying to get me shut down? LOL
  • msazzyindcmsazzyindc Member Posts: 118
Hey is your back window tinted? Does that make a difference when using the rear shade? I think it would almost be a waste of money to tint the back window and use the rear shade but, the car would look ugly fromt he outside if you didn't ARRRH...lol :P

Re 588: "Hey is your back window tinted? Does that make a difference when using the rear shade?"

Yes, "limo" black behind the driver, and.....that is where I really screwed up. That degree of dark tinting makes the rear sunshade useless, can't see a thing.

Use lighter tinting plus sunshade...easier on the eyes but a little less Hollyweird.

I'm sure the light smoke ones look good as well, am I right?

    Mike -

Here are a couple of pictures of the WeatherTech window shields that I installed on my car a while ago. You can be the judge as to how good they look. I like them. They do install up in the window channel.

Your automatic windows may think that something's blocking it when it tries to go all the way up. If this happens, just put the windows up two or three times with out using the automatic feature and the window will "remember" the new stopping point and then the automatic feature will work fine.

See more Car Pictures at CarSpace.com

They are really easy to install. Even Helen Keller could do it.

    Hope this helps.

Which album should I look at?

    Hi
The Azera already has a booster for the rear antenna....If you add an additional antenna booster it will only add more noise to the radio and not improve the signal..
You may have to use an outside antenna like an amplified Fuba antenna mounted on the trunk lid

I ordered the replacement cabin air filter from AutoBarn. The part took about one week to arrive, and it took me about five minutes to replace it. The instructions as provided in the owner's manual are pretty clear.

What wasn't clear was the old filter. My Azera has a little less than 10,100 miles on it and this filter was black with dirt!

Sorry about the picture problem, don't know what happened. When I imbed the pictures in my reply and hit "Preview" the pictures show up, but when I post my reply, they don't show up.

Here's the web site of my albums (there are 3 albums at this site) if you want to see the pictures of the window shields

    Hope this works.

Is a fuba and a shark fin the same thing? I really don't like that look. WHy is it that I see people will tint everywhere around me and they don't have these external antenna's. Is it just the Azera radio that is having issues?

    RE: 279
The antenna on my Azera stinks.
I can hardly pick up AM reception, even for strong and nearby stations.
  • patpat Member Posts: 10,421
That's the right link, but because it didn't start with the "http://", people have to copy and paste it.

Here's one that can be clicked: zredsox's pics.

May I ask how you know of this signal booster that's already in the Azera??? If it is, it's not a very good one at all. I don't get any noise now with FM channels, so I'll take my chances...I'm not adding an external antenna as that would mess up the look of my ride. Not unless I opt to get a functinal shark fin antenna, but then that means I have to drill a hole in my roof to install it.

    Decisions, decisions!!!! :confuse:

Anyway...here you go (the correct link):

Intersting. I have noticed on every car I have had in the last 15 years (several different makes) that none of them had decent AM reception. Had windshield and regular antennas.
FM on Azera is as good as any though.
  • allmet33allmet33 Member Posts: 3,557
Who listens to AM anymore??? LOL With the push over to XM and with HD radio coming into play...I really see AM being phased out.
  • msazzyindcmsazzyindc Member Posts: 118
Thanks, I still like your's the best. Hmmm now you are making me want to change my radio.... :shades:
  • allmet33allmet33 Member Posts: 3,557
 Awwwwwwwww...thank you! A DC cop paid me a compliment when I pulled up to a 7/11 one morning. I got out, he looked it over one time and said, "Playa...you're changin the game with that one!" All I could do was laugh!!!

One thing I can say about changing the radio, your sound quality increases and you will have some more functions available that you don't currently have. However, the downside is...you will lose your steering wheel control (until PAC comes out with an adapter for it), you will lose the ability to load 6 CD's (but you can only listen to them one at a time, you can't even shuffle between the disc, just tracks).

Since the radio I replaced it with plays MP3 loaded discs, I don't miss the changer at all. I can also hook an MP3 player or iPod up to it as well, which is better than a changer anyway! Most new radios are coming with iPod controls built in or you can purchase adapters that allow you to control your iPod from the radio as well.

Just changing the radio out only takes maybe 30 mins. if you prep everything before you do the install. It takes more time to get the panels out of the way than it does to actually install the radio. Just weigh the pros and cons and see where you stand. If you want to save some coin, shop on Ebay (that's where I got my radio from). Contact Scosche.com for the wire harness and dash kit if you're going with a regular sized radio. If you go with a double sized radio (like the factory stereo), contact Metraonline.com for a dash kit from them (there's is better for the doubld din radios).

"You may have to use an outside antenna like an amplified Fuba antenna mounted on the trunk lid..."

Why did they have to name it "FUBA?" I can't look at that without remembering FUBAR from back in th' day... :shades:

And no, if you don't know, I'm not gonna say...

Most if not all cars with rear window antennas have a booster to improve a weak signal. I had a xg350 before I purchased the 07 Azera. The 350 worked fine on AM & FM until it was about 2 years old. The AM begin to have weak receiption...The problem--booster amp connection became loose. The Azera radio works great and is much better then the 350. If anyone out their is having receiption problems
have the dealer check out the booster amp.

I've never heard this and I've been installing stereos for 15+ years.

Has anyone found a floor mat that would match/complement the beige interior while offering a bit more kid protection than carpeted mats? Is there an attractive rubber alternative? Coco mats perhaps?

Thanks. Any idea as to how the tan color looks with the Azera beige interior?

I also found Avery berber that might hide the dirt better due to its weave. They also make a 1 piece rear mat that would be good to protect the middle. Has anyone had experience with these? Does the dark beige/taupe work with Azera beige?
  • cdmuilecdmuile Member Posts: 152
I bought calico coco mats from my "autosport" catalogue. I think they look pretty cool. I would post pictures, but it's too complicated on this forum! Check out Hyundai Azera forum for my pictures.

    Hi Allmet
The XG350 had the amp. mounted on the rear pillar passenger side. If you go on the hmaservice.com and look up Azera 2007 Body Electrical Systems - Audio systems - it shows everything you need to know and guess what... it has an amp module.
I was VP Ops for Jensen Sound Labs in the 80's and Ant. amps were used in many cars
See you learned something knew :=)
If you ad another booster amp all it will do is amplify more noise
  • allmet33allmet33 Member Posts: 3,557
You are right, I did learn something new. Thank you for the knowledge!!! ;)

If that is the case, it would seem that the boosters are poor in quality, maybe it needs to be by-passed and an aftermarket booster used in it's place?

If not, it would seem that I may be replacing my faux shark fin antenna with a working one. Then again, I just won't listen to the radio as I hardly do anyway!

Hello setamp, I have a set of custom Beige rubber floor mats for the Azera that I have never used. If interested please e-mail me. jndamico@worldband.net
  • hjc1hjc1 Member Posts: 183
    Hi Allmet
The booster amp in the Azera runs off 5 VDC so unless you get a 5vdc booster you will need to run a separate 12vdc line. Keep the booster as close to the antenna as possible or you will just amplify any noise from the long line. You want the signal pushed not pulled from the antenna. Fuba is a line of antennas. They have been a leader in antenna design...just "google Fuba antenna" for some ideas.
    P.S.
I live in a rural area in Wisconsin and the factory antenna
works great. I can even pull in Chicago AM stations.
  • allmet33allmet33 Member Posts: 3,557
I will keep that in mind for sure! However, I'm not going to be stickler on sound quality for the radio portion as the only time I would really listen to it is for the morning show in our area. Other than that, the CD player gets a serious work out on a daily basis.

I can say the antenna worked fine until I got my rear window tinted with a metalized film. So, I'm sure that's wreaking havoc on signal reception.

Thanks again for the great info!!!

What is the best way to use the luggage net?Page 110 of the manual shows it hooked to the 4 floor rings. I'm not concerned about luggage. I'm more concerned about grocery bags. What about the 4 upper rings? How and when are they used?
  • pahefner01pahefner01 Member Posts: 202
What is the best way to use the luggage net?

It is kind of funky and I couldn't find a good way to use it. I ordered a net for an XG350 and replaced the Azera net with the XG net. It works much better.
  • rminorrminor Member Posts: 40
I use the 4 floor rings and the upper one between to make an inverted V. We just slide the bays under this and they never move
  • akoni1akoni1 Member Posts: 35
Thanks guys. I probably wont buy an XG350 net but I'll try the inverted V arrangement.
  • scbobscbob Member Posts: 167
Don't really know how to explain it, but I used the net that came with the car to make a V type. May have to play with the various hooks and loops. I just laid it flat and folded it over and then saw how to connect it.
Works great, but not as deep as some vehicles.
I think the purpose is to provide a dual purpose net, but the manual only explains the luggage type.
  • gamlegedgamleged Member Posts: 442
The "inverted V" in post #638 is also the way I have it. The four net end loops attached to the four side floor attachments allows you to slip quite a variety of items under the net to keep them pretty much in place. Big, heavy items I just lay on top of the flat net. Grocery bags, I then also lift and attach the two middle net loops to the attachments up near the trunk lid, making the inverted V (while leaving the four floor net attachments... attached)... :shades:
  • jim101jim101 Member Posts: 252
Agreed, the four floor hooks leave a lot to be desired.

I picked up two screw on plastic 'buttons', like you find in many other trunks that hold net loops. I removed the two plastic cover pieces from just behind the taillights inside the trunk and replaced with the plastic button type hooks. I slipped both loops on each end of the net over the hooks. I picked up three cardboard boxes approx. 12"x12", 10"x14" and 8"x8", all were at least 8 to 10" deep. These were placed side by side inside the net with the lower part of the net under the boxes and the upper part behind the boxes. Note, I cut almost a half circle in the front of each box to ease placement of bags into the boxes. I tried empty wooden wine boxes, they were just to clumsy.

Now when we go shopping the grocery bags and many other bags fit into the boxes. If I need the space for bigger things the boxes fit into one another.

    Hope this helps.
  • akoni1akoni1 Member Posts: 35
Thanks for the suggestions. I'll play with them all.Again, thanks.
  • allmet33allmet33 Member Posts: 3,557
I've got mine set up so that it rests against the back side of the trunk (closest to the rear bumper). The net is folded in half with the single straps at the bottom and the two sets at the top (regular V). I attached the bottom ones to the hooks closest to the rear bumper and the two top ones on each end to the round knob like hooks up higher by the tail lights. This creates a pouch that hold my umbrella, first aid kit and torque wrench (normal items). I also can stash other things in there as well since it expands nicely.
  • scbobscbob Member Posts: 167
Caution! Learned this the hard way. Do not stand wine bottles or other tall bottles up in the net. Because it is not very deep, they tend to pull the net over and start rolling around.
