This was the dealer’s offer: MSRP: $22,935, Sale Price: $21,793.  Also, why roll the bank and doc fees into monthly? Is there an advantage to that?

Actually, selling price was $22,213, residual is 57% and the money factor is .00037.

If you pay them up front, and the car is stolen or totaled, you lose that money.

With the prices given, $267/mo

$237/mo looks good, if there is no cap reduction in the up front cash.

I realize that this is not the correct forum for general questions about leasing, but I can't find where I should ask those questions - perhaps you would be kind enough to point me in the right direction please? My questions are about whether destination charges should be included in the residual value calculation, and whether any discount you negotiate should result in a lower residual. I believe that the answer to both questions is NO, but I would like to know for sure. Thank you.

Residual is always a percentage of the full MSRP, including destination and options. The bottom number on the government required window sticker. The negotiated price does not affect the residual.

Hi - I am trying to compare quotes from dealerships in 2 different states. They are telling me that the MF and residual differ between the two areas. One is located in zip 12206, the other in 02169. I am looking at the mazda CX-3 Touring AWD. 12k/36 mo. Could you please provide me with the MF and Residual in both locations? Also wondering if you know if there are any restrictions leasing a care over state lines (I'm in NY but am getting a much better quote from the MA dealership).

If both dealers are using SMF (aka Chase) for the lease, then there is no difference in MF or residual.

.00037 MF and 56% residual

NY: $720 lease cash
MA: $1080 lease cash

So, $10/mo. advantage to the MA dealer, though MA dealers typically have a $400-$500 dealer fee.

Also, Mazda dealers can markup the MF by as much as .00050. And, of course, the discount could be different.
