    Hi,
I have a lease offer on the table and I want to know if it’s a good deal or I can do better.  Please let me know if you need any additional information.
    Thanks!

    2019 Forester Premium
    State: Florida
    MSRP: $29,989 (according to website)
Selling Price: $28,097 (according to website)
    42 month lease
    15k miles per year
    $0 down
    $332 a month
$17,094 will be left to finance (my ultimate goal is to buy)
Roadside assistance included but not oil changes and tire rotations

Or I can buy my current car a 2014 Honda CRV EX-L which is a lease.  Pay $330 a month for five years including a four year extended warranty and gap coverage.

It needs four new tires, an oil change and tire rotation right now.  I would probably need to sink at least another set of tires (and who knows what else) into it before it’s paid off.

I’m extremely torn about this decision so any help is appreciated.
You say you want to own the Forester, but I notice you don't want to buyout the CR-V, because of it's needs. I'll guess that will be your same issue when the Forester comes off lease in 42 months. Try to figure out if you really want to own a car long-term, or if you just like the lower payments of a lease.
That’s the problem.  I like the low monthly payments of a lease but I would eventually love to not have a car payment. Does that lease deal seem good or can I do better?
If you want low payments, then you'll never be without a car payment. The CRV lease is a good example. However many years you've leased it, plus five more years, if you buy it out. At the end of that time, are you going to keep driving a ten-year old car. That doesn't seem likely. The new Forester won't be any different. If you want to be without a payment, then buy it, and pay $600/mo over the next five years. In January, 2024, you'll be payment free (with a five year old car).
Except as I stated above I can’t afford the monthly payment.
I still do not have an answer to if that lease deal is pretty good or I can do better.

Sorry, I got sidetracked by your desire to own the vehicle. If you can't afford the purchase payment, then it isn't likely that ownership is in your future. At least not for a $29K vehicle.

    .00115 MF and 57% residual for 42/15
The payment seems to be reasonable, given the price and the lease program available.

    .00115 and 57% for 42/15 on Premium

With the prices you've given us, I get a payment of $314/mo, plus tax

The quote of $332/mo looks to be in the ballpark

Only way to improve it is to negotiate a lower selling price.

Hello, tried searching for an answer for December and California numbers and didn't see any...

2019 Lease numbers for Forester Sport and Premium. RV, MF, and any current incentives (lease cash, discounts, etc). 10/36 and 12/36. Location:93291. Do the numbers look better at 39 or 42 months? Or is 36 month the sweet spot?

Thank you for the work you do!

Hey All! Would just like to post my recent lease deal for 2019 Forester Premium (26,695) + Option Package 15 ($1845) + Popular Package 1 ($931) + Splash Guards ($172) + Destination and Delivery ($975)...I feel was a fair price, but maybe someone can compare. I carried some negative equity into the deal, but the Sales Manager I think help negate most of that with nearly $3000 off MSRP.

    Location: California
    MSRP: $30,618
    Sale Price: $27,702
    12k/36 month
    MF: 0.00150
    Residual: 62% ($18,985)
Negative Equity in trade in: -$1000
    Down: $0
    Monthly: 410.50 ( Fees+Taxes 7.975%+ Adjusted Cap Cost)

I hope that's enough info to check the deal...I made it anyway based off what I was seeing in the forum as far as numbers. If I had no negative equity, I would have been $381.25/month. I owed my registration (+404), yes California sucks, and monthly payment from trade in ($403) in two weeks anyway, so I feel I really didn't have to come up with too much down to get that deal. Let me know how you all did!

Can you please help me...? I think dealership the dealership is charging double tax.

2019 Suburu Forester Limited w/Nav, all weather mats, and rear autodimming with homelink
    MSRP 33972
    Selling price: 30,884
    Proc/Doc Fees 395
    Acq Fee 595
Down Payment/Total OOP incl 1st month and NJ registration 1,285 (285 NJ registration)
    Residual Amount 20723
    Money Factor.00060...?
    Lease Term36/12k miles
    Lease payment = 363.42

I think the payment should be 333/month with tax based on the selling price. Did they add a tax of some sort of 850?

The only way to know for sure is to ask for the adjusted CAP cost, and the money factor used.

If the numbers are off, it's possible they are marking up the money factor. It would be very rare for a dealer to screw around with sales tax, as that's illegal. Plenty of legal ways to take advantage of you.

I understand what you are saying. I guess my point is based on the payment and the total OOP is it a good deal for the car? Looks like the price is a 1000 less than invoice so i could care less if they raised the money factor or whatever else they needed to do if I am still getting a good deal. thank you for your help.

In my opinion, a good deal starts with the base MF and a reasonable discount from sticker.

Use this link to help with price research:

But, it's your money, not ours - if you think it's a good deal, who are we to argue?

I am in Charlotte, NC area and am being offered $3,500 off MSRP if that helps for comparison. It's for a 2019 Limited with all the dealer crap added like bumper guards and splash guards. MSRP is $35,173 being offered at $31,500.

The MF doesn't seem to be changing for anyone right now but just to be sure, can I get the MF and RF for a 2019 Forester Limited in the 28056 area? 36 mo at 12k.
