i'll echo what tim said. 99% of folks come here to do two things. 1) complain about problems they have to see if they're systemic (other people have the same problems) and if so, what people are doing to fix them. 2) to exchange information about accessories, and do-it-yourself kinda stuff (oil/filter changes, lube jobs, etc). i have a 2000 LS 1500, Z71, 5.3L and have not a complaint. truck's been great to me and i wouldn't trade it for the world. oh, some people come here just to heckle ryan too...forgot that one.

Ryan, about your dent, have you checked on having a paintless dent removal done? We had a door ding removed from our 2001 PF right on the lot and you can't tell it was even there. If it didn't look that good we would have not bought it.
Thanks all,
Danog

I haven't had any use for them yet, but I've paged through them and found some interesting things. I figure if it saves me one trip to the shop it will have saved me the purchase price. Also, even if I have the shop do work I can be an educated consumer.
I believe it was vince that put the Hellwig rear anti-sway bar on his 3/4 ton truck. How much did it cost and where did you get it? I called ZMotive today (Ad in Truckin' magazine) and they said $119 for a 1/2 ton 2wd plus the roughly $20 bucks to ship it. Were the adjustable pivot end links standard with the kit or were they extra? Did it require drilling any holes? Sorry for the fifth degree, but just wondering how much of a pain it will be to install. Cool pics!
To the people buying the Helms service manuals, how much are they? Are they the same as are offered in the back of the GM owners manual?
Has anyone else out there installed rear anti-sway bars on their trucks? If so, what brand and would you recommend it?

It took way longer to install because I had to make up for Hellwig's weaknesses. It should take about 2 hours. No drilling is required.
I bought the bar at http://www.heckethorn.com/ for about $135. They sell them at JC Whitney as well. That $119 price is good. The end links are part of the kit, all bar mounts must have some means of moving front-rear a little. Cars usually have rubber bushings on each end of a shaft.
By the way gmc sierra, the service manual is from www.helminc.com and is the same factory manual GM sells. It costs $120.
It takes some getting used to....but some people just don't understand...turn wide!
Good luck for GM making it by 2002?

You gotta read all the posts!
BOB332 post 585 - Don't know if it'll ever see pavement, but the concept 'GMC Terradyne' sported 4-wheel-steering at the auto-show, along with built-in front whinch, 6 foot box the extends to 8 feet, rear-view Camera in the tailgate, a neat way of SLIDING the doors open, and even used the area between the inside and outside box walls for storage.

Can't..no time..too busy enjoying life. The repost must have been a little bit later, and I prob glanced and figured, shucks I have that info written down. No problem..I spent the extra and got it locally, so they reordered and the new one will be in today.
For the person concerned that we don't love our trucks..we have the 2000 2WD, 6.0, 4.10, SB,4 door with trailer package (pulls like a dream..ya gotta be careful, you forget that 30 footer is back there!)and electric seats and have had nada a problem. Only things we added were running boards, ARE Cap and duraliner..it has no shutters, shakes or rolls so far!!

IAS shocks. I got mine at shockwarehouse.com, $69.00 ea. With the 25% coupons, carparts.com has the best deal right now. Just that they can't deliver. Forgot who...may about 40-50 responses back said they were waiting about a month for delivery. Apparently, they got two and are waiting for the other two. Guess it's either price or service...
According to the 3/4 ton owners on this site, since it's heaver, it has a better ride.
Yes they are releasing a 325 horsepower 6.0 litre in the new GMC C - Series, (aluminum heads and a hotter cam), but in my opinion it's one of those car/truck hybrids. From the pictures I've seen, it has street tires and a new all wheel drive system, which probably doesn't have a low range.
If the 1500 5.3 litre doesn't have enough chutzpah for you (remember, it's not a car), there's always forced induction. If you want to shell out an additional 4k, Whipple makes a nice supercharger kit, featured in many trucking magazines.
Hope this helps.

The small jump was not worth it.

If that was the only thing "wrong" with your truck...consider yourself lucky...I didn't consider the Tundra either...looked too much like a FORD.
