Placement is very important, make sure your installation works for you and is easily accessible in an emergency. My 2 cents

How are we signing of on these posts? Oh yea, Good luck on this one now. LOL
Ordered the harness from GM, but Tekosha sells 'em cheaper and has a very good description of how to tie the controllers in on the new Silverados....
Very happy with my Tekosha Sentinal, plus made and owned in USA.

Thanks,

Pretty easy install, down below the parking brake is something GM calls the "high commander center" or something silly like that, you pull the little cover off, press the special 4 to 6 pin plug in the recepticle that says brake, then run your wires and mount the controller.
Thanks,
Jarvus
Anybody wire up a phone using the celluar phone option?
thanks!
I'm not in complete agreement that the c-series is going to be a yuppie truck. The Avalanche is a different story. In my mind, a truck is a complete truck. It does not require some assembly or reconfiguration of the truck bed in the name of versatility or utility. But to each, his own. The one thing I do like about the Avalanche is the four real (super-crew) doors. I wish they made the current 2500 series (3/4 ton) that way. Ditto for the c-series. I'm not a Ford fan, but the 4-door supercrew with short bed looks really nice. I've got three kids and we will ocassionally pull a fifth-wheel camper or my boat. That's why I prefer 3/4 ton. Once again, wait and see. Wait for Chevy/GMC to catch up with other truck makers and get with a real 4-dr design, with handles on the outside, etc. Don't want any "weak links" either. Probably won't be ready to purchase until early 2001, so I'm in no hurry. Just keeping my eyes and ears open.
Thanks everybody. Have a good weekend.
Ryan
gotta go with ryan on this one. haven't heard anyone complain about the interceptor. i have the bugflector too (purchased at Pep Boys for like, $40) but it does create a slight noise at high speeds (greater than 70 mph). if i had it all to do again, i'd get the lund. but...if you listen to the radio at anywhere above a BARELY audible level while you're driving, it won't bother you that much.
kyle
I had a ARE lid put on and I'm sure liking it. Not sure about better MPG because of the lid being on. I haven't been on the open road to much yet, but getting around 16 around town.
Whats tha part #18063 or 18064??? Wow i actually remember it

It's not your father's Silverado.
Hope it comes with wheel flares.
56 days and counting until I order my 2001 Silverado.
David
Thanks alot,
Jarvus
Ryan and Kyle,
Got the bugdeflector already on order because they could color match the truck. BTW carmine red and I'm 24. (But I act alot older than that I guess)
when they hit the lots. I am thinking of getting a
non-fiberglass tonneau cover for reasons of (hoped
for) improved gas mileage. Plan on mostly highway
miles.
Feedback?
thanks
I think my engine is finally broke in past 3 fill ups i havent got below 15 mpg and 75%-90% has been city. $2.03 a gallon will soon add up
Install on bug guard is easy. Screw it in to existing screws VERY SIMPLE..
Ryan
oh yeah, as far as simple goes on the install...the step bars weren't that hard either (granted, not as easy as the bug guard)...but still not that hard. but i guess that's another topic, altogether, eh mr. goodwrench???
just kidding ryan, just kidding...go have a nice weekend and pickup some more chicks with the puddle of condensate under your truck...
kyle
Overall i think I will keep my Silverado as well..
Kyle...you are kiling me ace..hehehhe
- Tim
Actually i had lunch with the girl from dairy queen today. Might not have to pick up anymore chicks now.
Gotta work on the boat now.
Ryan
Someone on another topic was talking about Chevy being the leader in new design and how they had desinged their trucks "rounder" before Dodge and Ford. I guess the SSR just proves him right again as this truck is really "ROUND". Now if it only came with an extended cab...just trying to imagine what that would look like...Don't think trucksrme would be interested in this one..it doesn't look like a "worker"...more on the yuppy side...
Uh oh.....looks like Ryan may be a goner soon!

I got mine for about $221 delivered with 1/3 off coupon. It took about 2 weeks to get them, but mine were for a 2WD. The price quoted seemed to change depending on when and who you asked, but seemed to settle down to the price cited above - salesman said IAS shocks price went up about a month ago.
Note: I beleive the 1/3 off coupon is not good with any other offers.
Good luck.
We will be at Indiana Beach next weekend. Family and friends are gathering there to surprise a couple who spent the first night of their honeymoon there on their way to Niagara Falls 45 years ago. How far it that from were you live?
Gas jumped again here today, now $1.759 per gallon. I am expecting to see $2.00 next week when we are in the Chicago area. Crazy!!! Bob
Indiana beach is about an hr and a half away. What expressway are you taking to get there??? You might drive by my area. Im from hammond more up north.
Gas here is $2.03 at shell. The cheapest is amoco which is $1.99 but will jump.
Have a safe trip there.

I would think without that fuse completing the circuit one of the wires doesn't have the proper power, but I don't have a clue which one. I hope you've got it covered, but just noticed you only mentioned a wiring harness - not the fuse. It isn't installed from the factory.
Greg
And literally they used to be on every corner - most all small towns still have at least one.

...or it will be.."make a choice!...Me or that damn computer!"....as she stands with her hands on her hips..

Ok on a serious note now how do you guys keep you windows clean??? I just washed my truck (its gonna rain tomorrow 100% chance) and the windows are still kinda dirty i hate it. I have this glass cleaner but i cant seem to get em clean i mean streaks and stuff stays on and also water spots. Any suggestions???
Also my truck is a damn bug catcher (zapper) i have so many dead bugs on the front.
Also i am now thinking of getting a lid and grill guard for my truck just to make it look more rugged. Kyle u think those people in the SUV post were scared before just wait have some super bright offroad lights shining at em now haha

OK..back to Silverados...

like 1 part vinegar to 9 parts water. Never tried it on car windows but works well on exterior house windows. Just an idea.

A couple of people have posted with enthusiasm over their upcomming 2001 Silverado purchase. What's so special about the 2001's vs. 2000's? other than all the new motors are getting a few more horsepower?
Anyone have experience with shocks? Specifically, is it worth upgrading from stock 3/4 ton suspension and shocks to the new Edelbrock IAS's for less body roll better load capacity? Any difference?
Men like to believe that they are in charge or in control...it's just that the women allow us to think that...
Ever tried using Zaino window cleaner? You can read the description here...sounds like exactly what you need...

We will travel I 55N to Chicago, spend a few days there, then I 65S to Indiana Beach. Yes, we will be going very close to Hammond. I'll stop at the DQ and fill her in on that guy who goes to school and works at Menards and drives a 00 LT 4WD ext cab sb rails mud flaps budshield, indigo blue. Does anyone have anything for me to pass on to her on Ryan's behalf. Bob
but I upgraded my 3/4ton Silverado 4x4 from the stock suspension to Bilstein shocks. The stock shocks were a strange combination of somewhat jarring over bumps and yet floaty in a sort of sea-sick kind of way. Even on the street, a bump would occasionally made the seat belt lock-up holding me down! I put in Bilsteins and the ride is far more controlled -- less jarring, yet it feels more taught and less floaty. The truck now handles more confidently and is more comfortable. I consider the money ($230) well spent. I've heard good things about the Edelbrock IAS, but don't know how they compare to the Bilsteins.
