I can relate the terrible experience I had at Jim Ellis Mazda Marietta in Atlanta yesterday. They gave me quotes of $336/mth(36mth/12k) with $550 DAS on FWD GT (33.415 MSRP) and a quote of $410/mth(36mth/12k) on a GT Reserve (36,800 MSRP). I went in and drove both. The Reserve is much better with the extra power so I told them I would take it. A short while later the finance guy comes out and says they calculated the GT Reserve payment incorrectly and then new price would be $443/mth. I walked out. It seems they used the .00001 money factor from the GT on the Reserve which should have been .00120. In my opinion this was not my problem as they shouldn't have sent the offer before double checking the numbers. I am going to another dealer and getting a GT with premium package (MSRP 33,415) for $330/mth (36mths/12k) with only the first payment DAS.

Can you let me know if I'm in a decent position coming out of my recent dealer visit? I did some old school back and forth negotiating not knowing the information/processes listed on this forum.

2019 CX-5 w/ Premium Package AWD zip 02118

Their first number was $409/mo with zero down. After some back and forth they were offering $369/mo with $999 down (first month, fees, etc extra). This also included paying for my remaining 3 months of my current lease (CX-5 Sport @ $281/mo) AND my mileage overage of 1500 miles @ .15/mi.

This is for the CX-5 listed above. 36mo/10k.

My lease ends in July so I have 1 payment left. I'm currently 2400 miles over my mileage so I'd like to get into my new lease ASAP.

I'd prefer to not put anything down aside from first month, fees, etc.

Can you let me know what my next steps should be?

You should be negotiating your selling price, not the monthly payment. Too much opportunity for the dealer to play with the numbers ... and, not to your benefit.

Ask them to show you the lease worksheet (screen shot from their computer would work), that shows all the details. Then we can evaluate it.

And, if you're over your current lease, will 10K per year on the new lease be enough?

What trim level is this?

10K to 12K drops the residual by 1%

On a $30K MSRP vehicle, it will add $9-$10 per month
