I went to see a 2019 C43 AMG (coupe, mind you). Local dealer in Chicago is offering $1,065.25 a month, $0.00 down, 36 months/12k, and $960.25 for 48 months, same terms otherwise. Mind the City of Chicago use tax of 9%. They also offered a "balloon" deal at $1011 and $891, respectively. MSRP = $66,195. Selling price = $59,800 and they are throwing in $1,800 for me to "buy out" my own current lease.

I'd love your feedback and input on that. Another local dealer was offering slightly lower prices for a lower MSRP sedan, but did not show their numbers. Thanks!

Net sales price is $65,916. Leasehackr has monthly payment w/ tax at $894 (without the City of Chicago use tax). Their offer doesn't seem too far off but my math may be incorrect. I should clarify that my current lease is non-MB (VW). My fiance needs a car soon and we are looking at VW/Audis for her. My car is a business vehicle, so leasing is advantageous. I'm going to stay away from their balloon loan for that reason.

Looks like they are giving you a purchase quote, not a lease quote. If they can't, or won't, accommodate you, move on to another dealer.

Gotta be plenty in the greater Chicago area.

Yes, with similar MSRPs and discounts, the sedan will have a much lower payment.

- MSRP $70,720, sale price $63,648, giving me $2,000 up front, $988/month

The first one ticks nearly all of my boxes, whereas the second is near-fully loaded and outside of my budget. Do these look like ok deals? Thanks!

First deal: On a 42 month lease, at the base MF, there would have to be around $5000 in extra charges to get that payment. Is it just first payment Due at Signing?

That leaves us about $1400 short ... Makes me think they've marked up the acquisition fee and the money factor.

The second deal looks a lot worse, even accounting for the extra options. Just say no to that one.

Just first payment due at signing on the first. Taxes rolled in. Finally, one more dealer is now offering 42 months/12k first monthly payment due @ $916 a month and $2k dealer check issued to me. MSRP on that vehicle is $65,295. They wouldn’t give me the sales price. I’ve ruled out the $70k MSRP vehicle. Thanks for your feedback!

Sure. 42/12k, city of Chicago, $66,650 MSRP, sales price $60,050, ended up paying $915 a month zero out of pocket with $2300 cash back up front. The sales price was a little high for me but the cash back upfront sold me. The monthly payment works quite well with my business’s budget. It’s a high payment but such is life leasing in Chicago and it makes sense leasing as a small business owner. Thanks again for your info.

Thanks for the report. Those Chicago lease taxes are a killer.

They really are. Effectively a Chicago car lease is taxed at nearly 20%. 9% city of Chicago plus 9.5% for the county. Manufacturers will offer “balloon loans” with a fancy name to help provide a lease like option that circumvents the 9% use tax. Nonetheless, a traditional lease was the only route to go for me for the reasons I discussed before.

Prepaid maintanence: $1,645 ($300 discount)

Paid all taxes and fees at signing including a $1,095 acquisition fee which they were unwilling to discount
