I have a brother who is part owner of a small town hardware store. He special ordered the Reese hitch out of a RIDGID HITCH catalog. So I got the hitch at the store's cost. This receiver hitch also comes with the hitch, pin and clip, hardware, and Reese logo end-cap. I like this hitch far better than the Mopar hitch I had on my old Dakota. This hitch looks hidden, far easier to install, and cost far less than the Mopar.

    Reese part/number 44018 Class IV
Trailer Weight WD(weight distributing) 7500 lbs.
Trailer Weight WC (weight carrying) 5000 lbs.
    Toungue Weight WD 750 lbs.
    Tongue Weight Wc 500 lbs.

Manufactured in Elkhart, Indiana and Oakville, Ontario

texaszach, thanks for the link to Sterlings. I checked the site out, but ended up buying my step bars from carorder.com since I could take advantage of thier 33% off your 1st order offer for the month of May. I got Smitty Built Sure Steps in black powder coat for around $130. I've heard of problems with black powder coat tending to rust easily. If that happens I plan on having them sanded and painted to the color of my truck.

lmeyer1 - thanks for the info on the hitch ramp. interesting product. However, I think the 2x8's someone mentioned is more cost effective. :-)

I've noticed sometimes when I first start out. I need to really press on the gas pedal in order to get any decent acceleration. But once I get the initial "cobwebs" out I have no problems with acceleration. I really hope that this is part of the computer's learning process and will soon pass. Right now I'm a little over 1,200 miles with a 4.7 auto

Can anyone recommend what type (brand/weight) of synthetic rear diff oil I should use. I would like to ensure I don't void any mopar warranties. Occasional light towing, 4x2, non-LSD

Just read something that makes me believe the mirrors will be offered separately.

Just wanted to bring up a point that may be overlooked. The DC towing package includes the wiring and fuses to support the 7 pin connector. It also requires the HD package.
The trucks wiring harness you splice\insert the aftermarket wiring adapter into was designed for a certain load. I'm sure the additional wire length and additional bulbs are exceeding what the circuit was designed to handle.
The aftermarket hitch may be cheaper but it is not the whole package.
  • jcody1jcody1 Member Posts: 58
If you ever plan to install a trailer brake controller, the wiring is already included with the factory towing package. Otherwise you will have to run a 10 guage wire from the dash to the trailer lights/brake connector at the rear of the truck.

I didn't know there was so much to consider about the towing aspect of this family friendly truck, however, everyones opinions are giving me LOTS to think about!

My concern with getting the towing package was that in order to get the wiring harness, it seemed that I would also have to forfeit a gentler ride for the 95% of the time that I won't be pulling anything. (Its true that the ride is be stiffer with the package, right?)

  • lmeyer1lmeyer1 Member Posts: 215
I don't think there are any suspension changes with the towing package, so it shouldn't change the ride at all.

I'm converting from Ford to the Dodge quad cab, but I'm having a heckuva time finding a dealer that will work with me. They evidently want to keep these toys on their lots and not budge much in price. Since orders for 2000's are being cancelled, should I grab what I can now or wait? I have a dealer nearby that wants an arm and a leg for his, but it has all the options I want. Do I bite the bullet? Is it worth it?
  • roundrocktxroundrocktx Member Posts: 14
Msjaycee, let us know what state and/or city you are near, we may be able to tell you about good dealers in your area. My dealer sold to me at invoice price. It was easy, called one dealer, asked if he could do 3% over invoice, he said he could. Called another, told him I had an offer at 3% over, he said he could do 1.5, then called another and he offered 1% over, then finally, went to another one (who I happened to buy a car in the past from) and he offered the invoice price. Use the phone and if you can, work with the sales manager. They have a lot harder time keeping you from hanging up than walking out.

Msjaycee, I basically did what roundrocktx is suggesting and it worked pretty well for me too. I think using the telephone (assuming you're armed with the necessary info) is a great way to go.

You should also check some of these sites:

    www.carsdirect.com
    www.greenlight.com
    www.carorder.com

If noththing else, they're fun to mess around with.

reference late teen #'s on this thread. The QC bedrug I purchased direct from factory through the net was $349 shipping free. They have state distrubutors but I would pay a sales tax.
It arrived promptly and I installed last night. It is 3/4 inch foam covering tailagate, bed and interior walls. The fit is almost precise, however at the rear of the sides it is not completely snug.
The plusses to me are it is easily removable for cleaning (one sided tape a very strong velcor type attachment on the other), it is definitley water repellent (I tried to drown the sample peice in a jar of water and it would not absorb a drop);it is soft and fills in the ridges to the point that I could sleep on it); it actually looks better than I anticipated (charcoal); it's design leads me to beleive it will protect the bed from spillages as well as weight drops.
The minuses to me are that it comes in two parts, bed/tailgate and sides/bulkhead which one zips together prior to install. The zipper lead itself is rather large and terminates facing the bed, I taped it up but there is potential for scratching; I opted to remove the cargo holders and reattch after install, and the bottom bolts on the rear holders are right up against the zipper and I had to be real careful when cutting out not to ruin the zipper itself.
Bottom line to me is that it is a nice compromise over a drop or spray in and is warranted for the life of my ownership. Time will tell.

    msjaycee:

I basically went through the buy-vehicle process on stoneage.com and took a printout of what I could get the vehicle for off the web. When the salesman asked me if their initial price offer was okay I said no and handed him the sheet detailing what I wanted to pay, and they matched it.

While I ended up needing to cancel my order and getting an acceptably matching vehicle via dealer-trade, the dealer I bought from maintained the cost relationship (dealer invoice + a little in fees that I couldn't talk them out of).

    Cheers.

I am not sure what you mean by "cobwebs" If it sputters on take off, you better get that checked out. I have the 4.7 V8 with a 5-speed 3.92 gears. The truck takes off very smooth and very strong out of the hole. The REAL power develops at about 2500 RPM's, but I do not have any "cobwebs" on take-off. Are you using 87 octane like the owners manual says? Sometimes using premium gas can actually hinder performance because it burns much slower. Try another brand of gas. I use Chevron (with techron) 87 octane. I was using cheap "go-mart" gas and was getting some pinging on hills. I switched to chevron and the pinging is gone. This was recommended to me by someone else on this message board.

Cyber, if you use a decent after market hitch such as a Reese or equivalent, then all you need is the "tee" type wiring harness that literally plugs into the present or existing harness. The only other shortcoming may (or may not) be the "flasher can" which on some vehicles is not designed to handle the load put forth by the addition of the trailer's lights. Not too serious, just plug in a HD model. You can tell if the "can" is too light by actuating the turn signal lever and watching the indicator arrows and listening to the clicking. If it is strong and true; OK! If it flutters rapidly, change the "can."

  • bja4bja4 Member Posts: 67
I expected a change in the flashing rate of the turn signals (to increase a lot) like I did with the old 92 Dakota when plugging in the boat trialer. This old truck had the factory wired tow package. There was absolutely no change in the flash rate on the new truck. I have aslo plugged in a car dolly trailer with the same results. Finally some good engineering. I have spliced into the fuse box for a battery isolator (12V relay) circuit for the camper's battery (fused). I am also running all of the camper's clearance lights (12 lights) off the light circuit spliced into the truck's main wiring. Nice bright lights that turn on with the light switch.

I took delivery of my QC yesterday. It was the most anxiety producing part of my CarOrder.com purchase. (No haggle or ad fees by the way.) After 4 days of being trucked 200 miles to my house, it would have been tough to wave goodbye as it went back to the dealer. But everything seemed to check out (and I had a pretty big checklist after reading this forum for 2 months!) There was a big grease smudge on the passenger sun visor, but it came right out.

    3.9L
    5 speed
    2 wheel drive
    SLT
    SLT plus package
(Has standard features + A/C, power windows and locks, cruise, tilt, T&H package, 6x9 windows, floor mats)
    Driftwood w/ Agate interior

    Ordered 4/11/00
    Built 5/8/00
    Shipped 5/12/00
    unloaded 5/15/00
    at dealer 5/22/00
in driveway 6/7/00 (w/9 miles on odometer)

    MSRP $21,695
    Invoice $19,453
    CarOrder.com $18,519

This has been a fun and helpful place to keep in a QUAD mood (or is that mode?) during my wait! Thanks for all the advice and help.

I picked up my fender flares, and see that a #20 torque driver is necessary for installation. Is that true??
  • lmeyer1lmeyer1 Member Posts: 215
Great price. Congrats on taking delivery.

I remember that a few months ago Carorder was selling well below invoice. Unfortunately, that's changed. In my area, they can't even match what my dealer has offered. And they now charge ad fees.

    Ok to answer your questions...

    1) "cobwebs", sorry I shouldn't assume you know what I mean. The engine doesn't sputter, but there isn't any real pick-up until I push the gas pedal down aways. Then once I do that the one or two times, any slight change in pushing the gas pedal towards the floor results in some nice acceleration. But the occasionally the first couple of times I want to accelerate after starting the vehicle I need the press the gas pedal a lot further than I normally do.

    2) Gas quality: I've been buying 87 octane from Mobile Gas stations. I know I pay a little more, but I've never had the issue of poor quality gas. Plus gas purchases go on the Mobile card and becomes a separate monthly payment that's easy to keep track of.

I'm wondering, should I let the vehicle idle for a minute after initial start-up? I usually start the truck, buckle-up, put it in gear and go. No waiting for the engine to warm-up. Could this be the issue, since the lack of acceleration power only seems to happen when I first start the truck after it's been sitting for a while.

Had my liner installed today. I like it! Had a slight scare though. When I picked up the truck there was a big black splotch on the driver's side of the bed on the driftwood trim by the tailgate. I was thinking to myself, "That's not comming off.." I showed the manager, and he apologized and immediately had it cleaned.

I've received good install service, and he told me that I have free minor repairs. Not sure if this is standard since I've read in other forums that the spray-in liners are not easy to repair. Anyhow, I'm happy with my choice.

Oh, yeah. Almost forgot. He put a Rhino Liner advertisement plug in my reciever hitch. I looked at it, and I think I can pop the cover off and remove his advertisement and put in my own color printout. Cool bonus, I think. :-)
  • colbatescolbates Member Posts: 37
I've lost track. But is the ring around the ignition light up or not? I would like to have this clear before I speak to the dealer about it.
  • spike50spike50 Member Posts: 481
Should've run through a tank or two by now. How close is the computer to the actual mpg? Also, are you still getting close to 20 mpg with a 4.7, 4x4, 5 sp?

For me, I always fill it up when I'm half empty. That way, I'm spending around $20 and it doesn't seem so bad. Still doing a lot of "round town" stuff and getting 15+ - 16+ mpg on 87 octane. Also have 4.7, 4x4, 5 sp.

cyberdad2 - A stock 2WD Quad (like mine) rides quite nice, in fact a bit nicer than a 2WD with the tire & handling package if you get the 235X75's. Of course I added aftermarket sway bars (rear) on mine. A non t&h equipped Quad also, as pointed out to me here, is about an inch LOWER in ride height... very nice. And I've got the factory hitch and it's just fine. I tow everything w/ it.

msjaycee - get in touch with Pam or Brigitte at [www.bennyboyd.com] and tell them that Jack from Midland wants them to walk you through the 'Quad' process. They are superior 'helpers.' ;-)

    impy2 - you're right (and you're welcome).

newquad - yeah, one of those hex looking thingies like you use to work on Macs. No biggie, most basic toolkits and magnetic screwdrivers seem so have em these days.

Spike, went to MD and back yesterday to visit and bring back my niece for a couple of days. I-95 through Philadelphia simply ruined my MPG as it took over one hour to go 19 miles. Mostly, in first or second gear. Averaging 17.9, but have not refilled to check actual fuel taken on versus miles driven. I'll keep you posted. Love this truck.

It does light, but I had to check it in my garage with the door closed. It is very dim, and with the courtesy lights on, it is barely discernible. Had to cup my hands around it to see that it was lighted.

for further weirdness (i.e. the "Amish story") check out archived topic #535 post #466. Must have been an interesting topic since half of the posts seem to have been deleted. I suspect that dave40 and trucksrme are one in the same. Good luck on this one now! ;->

Stupid question. Is it the taller tire (75 aspect ratio rather than 65) that makes the QC without the T&H package ride better?

I'm trying to decide whether to keep the T&H package on my 2001. Ride is more important to me than handling.

Been missing the forum as the ISP has been down for awhile... A few miscellaneous remarks.

    SYNTHETIC REAR DIFF LUBE:
Read a previous post on what synthetic to use that will not void the warranty... I simply go with the Mopar synthetic.

    4.7 / 5.9 CHARACTERISTICS:
Had a chance to drive a 4.7 QC 4X4... Very nice! Interestingly, though it lacked some of the low-end grunt of my 5.9, it actually seems to out-perform the 5.9 at higher speeds!

I love the 5.9 and the "old-fashioned" trans for my purposes... But I must say that I evy you 4.7 guys when I pull up to the gas pump!!

    FACTORY TOW PACKAGE:
Personal opinion... I wouldn't haul anything over about 2500 lbs without a towing pack and HD Service Group.

I happen to have an enclosed tandem-axle trailer which weighs in at about 2,200 lbs. (without cargo). The law requires tandems to have brakes.
On the Ram, the Tekonsha electronic brake controller plugged right into the existing factory harness. When I got the Quad, I pulled the controller from beneath the the Ram dash, leaving the wiring intact. I'll be taking the QC in next week... Guys at the trailer outlet will plug in a new wiring ($15)... A whole lot better than paying $100 for an entirely new unit!

    WHITE PAINT:
I was reminded once again why I selected Bright White for the QC (as I did on the '95 Ram).

In detailing the Ram for sale, the entire top edge of the tailgate was rubbed raw to the metal by and ill-fitting rear window on the cap.

I popped for a spray can of Duplicolor to match and a can of Duplicolor clear-coat to top it off.
The finished job was an EXACT match, indestiguishable from the factory finish.

Used to do custom paint for a living while I was in college... Love the looks of those metallics! But they're downright scary when it comes to touch-up!

    Nuff said... Loving this truck!!!

OK, first the simple stuff - dave40 isn't the same as trucksrme - trucksrme is actually rubluetoo (that user name was kicked off by Edmunds). Oh gee - now I feel old - am I the only guy who remembers dave40????

Didn't see 1988, sounds like I missed some fun.

Cobwebs, pickup, whatever. Colbates, I think I might know the symptom that you are describing, and yes, it does sound as though the truck is stumbling a little when cold. I don't think that you need to warm the truck up too much when starting (though that never hurts), but you do need to realize that these are big engines and it takes a while for the oil to get moving and the heat to build up to operating temperature.

You may find it necessary to rev the engine a little more for the first minute or so of driving, and then it should settle down. Often this problem can be made to show itself in a manual by just using the clutch at the start - i.e. using only idle revs, especially if you start by reversing.

So, if it what I think it is, it isn't a problem, just a common characteristic of cold engines. I would recommend warming the engine before running in cold weather by the way.

Just got back from my dealer to confirm the 2001 options, some of this was previously posted, but I think there were some omissions

New Aerodynamic Power/heated folding side mirrors
    New front fascia
    New 15x7 cast aluminum wheels
    New 16x8 cast aluminum wheels
    New P255/60R16 tire on 4x2
    New P265/70H16 tire on 4x4

New I/P cluster with Improved Heater/AC & controls
    New corporate steering column
    New front door trim panels
New power outlet in floor console (bucket seats only)
    New illuminated center console
New optional leather seats (buckets only)
New interior trim colors: Dark slate & Taupe

    New load shedding battery(battery saver)
New SKIM security system (Sentry Key Immobilizer Module)
New Electric Shift Transfer Case (Dial located on I/P)
New single-stage air bag inflation system

New electronic PRNDL with all engines (was only on 4.7)
    New am/fm/cass/cd radio
    New premium sound CD radio
New 6 button remote radio controls (added mode function)
New homelink system in overhead console

Bright silver metallic replaces light driftwood as
    an exterior color.

I guess the SKIM is like the F-150's key with some type of chip in it. Anyone know?
What does I/P mean? (I forgot to ask)

Hello everyone, I have small problem with Quad.
I have a clunk in the front end when pulling up to a stop and when I turn the wheel sometimes
It does not do it all the time though. I have inspected it visually and see nothing obvious.
Any ideas? I would like to have an idea of what the problem is before I take it back in for service. Other than this small problem the truck has been great!!! I have a Red Sport 4.7, auto
3.55 lsd tow pkg. and lots of other goodies.
My mileage seems to stay in the 15-17 range no matter what I do. It really tows my 6x10 enclosed motorcycle trailer well. One of my riding buddies was so impressed he is looking at one now!

I had posted the 2001 changes a few days ago. What I have been wondering about since then is the new illuminated center console. The refer to the console for the bucket seats as the floor console and I don't think that is what they mean. The overhead console is already illuminated and I would think that they would call it the overhead console. That only leaves the plate which has the pads that correspond with the shifter and 4WD linkage. I have to wonder if they are changing that with the new electronic shift 4WD. It would be nice if they could make that space more useful for those without floor shifts. Any theories guys?

I remember reading the post about the location of the passenger airbag fuse.

Has anyone investigated further? Does the airbag light illuminate when the fuse is removed? Has anyone removed the fuse and driven into a tree, did the airbag activate? How are the switches for the airbags on the Regular and Club cab wired? Do the wiring diagrams for the Club and regular cab differ from the QC?

My 9 year old really wants to cruise around in the "shotgun" seat. I am afraid "shotgun" may be too accurate a description of an airbag exploding in his face.

I understand the rear seats are safer (in every car, and always have been.)

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

    Hello All:
1500 miles under the belt on QC Sport with T&H
package. I keep hearing about how great the ride quality is but I have to say that my only disapointment has been the ride. Asphalt seems fine but I seem to get a great deal of bump and bed flex on concrete highway. I realize that I am not driving a sedan but I expected a slightly smoother ride. Should I investigate aftermarket rear bars. I would have preferred SLT but this was the only one left in the area with the other features I wanted. Any Ideas?
  • bookittybookitty Member Posts: 1,303
You are perfectly correct in your assumption of rear seats being safer. As for suggestions, I think that you have the answer. Let your 9 year old ride in the rear seat. I know that this is not going to be a popular decision, but it will work the odds in your favor. The other day I saw a truck (in Philadelphia)advertising a service for installing manual switches for air bags. I could not get close enough to see the 800 number on the truck. Try to look it up on the Internet.

I would assume that the center console is the one between the bucket seats and floor console is the one that contains the 4 wheel drive shifter (I don't know how the 4x2 looks).

    zonk
No drive train changes that I was told about, but anything could happen.

When I asked about the 2001 changes, they were just opening their 2001 update binder from Dodge. They even made me a copy of the sheet. I was told I just missed the order deadline for the first run of quads (closed jun 2 or 4th can't remember). So the next build date would be Jul 26th. It's going to be rough waiting so long.

at my 4.7 SLT Auto 4x2 3.92 QC at the dealership. I couldn't pick it up yet because I haven't gotten my check from the credit union. It's beautiful though and I can't wait to get it home. A question I have for those who have all the options memorized is what package has wheel flares? I thought it came in the T&H group. Is that only for 4x4's?
I can't remember all the items on the inspection list, but the bed appears to be properly aligned and the door mouldings appear to be stable. What else should I check for? Thanks in advance.

Hey guys, I read a while back that there was a TSB out for the bed creak...Mine has it and the Service Manager has played a little dumb...I need some ammo when i go back to tell him that he is a moron..Does the person who had the "part" on order have the TSB # and know what "part" had to be replaced/modified????

Almost had the ChildSeat Tethers installed yesterday...Apparently they found out that they had ordered the WRONG part but only after i had dropped the truck off at 7:30am and AFTER they took apart the back seat to install them...Like i said...Not to Bright....

Im no Pro mechanic or anything, but the FIRST thing i do before i start ANYTHING is make sure i have ALL the tools needed, make sure i have the CORRECT parts and READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE STARTING...Apparently they ordered the ones for the Ram Quad Cab which it said in BIG BOLD LETTERS right on the front of the installation sheet....

I think D/C installed the same "DIM" light bulb they use in the keyring into these mechanics for a BRAIN....Needless to say it wont be back up there for any maintenance work again....

I was sure to tell the owner, sales manager, and the salesman the their service department will most likely cost them any future sales to me...Its a darn shame because their sales department is A-1, 5-Star, ALL THE WAY...

Anyway, The truck is great and drives like a dream... 4.7L, 3.55, 5sp, 4x4, T&H, Buckets, and all goodies except the HIGH PRICE radio and Towing package...Instead i installed a REESE (#44018) 1-piece welded hitch, and an
ALPINE CDA-D855 CD Player with Dancing-Light display & Remote...

    Everyone Keep Qadding and Posting..

Forgot to mention, My wife likes the Quad so well, we will be purchasing a Durango, probably a 2001, when they are available for order...

Expecting a delivery from the stork in November and the WS6 Trans-Am ain't gonna cut it as far as strapping a child in the rear seat and lifting them in and out...Can you say BACK-STRAIN!!!!

She's been eying the PEARL INTENSE BLUE pretty hard....Hope it will still be available in the 2001 line up...I guess it will be a nice compliment to my Flame Red Sport in the Garage...

Anyway, does anyone know for sure if the 2001 Durangos are available for order now...I figure that they are since the dakotas are..Havent called around yet..

For the record..QC SLT 4.7 Auto 4x4 T&H and a bunch o' other wonderful 'stuff'...
Almost 1000 miles and I like this truck more and more. The ride is still great, and even better when fully loaded with firewood and camping gear.
Gas milage has been averaging mostly in the 13 - 14 mpg range with 75% highway driving, although I did hit 15.5 once.

Complaint 1, (minor). The trip odometer. I like to use it to gauge distance to travel to a particular stop and I like to have it constantly visible, not a toggle between T.O. and regular odometer. Also, because of where I position the steering wheel, it is hidden from view. Maybe I'm old fashioned but I wish it was a dual odometer positioned within the speedometer.
Complaint 2, (minor). Placement of the cupholders.
I believe that with a little more thought on placement of the power outlets/cigar lighter, Dodge could have had the cup holder come out of the dash. The way it is now, it is unusable if a 3rd person is sitting in the front, (not very common here), but more importantly, it is right next to the seat so that if your coffe cup has been overfilled, there's a good chance that it will splash back onto the seat. I keep a facecloth draped over the middle part of the seat to prevent that from happening.

Whine: I went over a small curb, (rounded asphalt) and the front end went out of alignment, Its going in Wed to the dealer to be fixed. I wonder if something wasn't tightened properly at the factory
Other than that no other problems.

    Story:
Lat night my wife took the truck to the supermarket at about 10. I asked her
to park away from everyone else which she did, the only car near her was one
directly in front of her, but separated from the QC by a big travel lane that
    runs between the parking rows.

As she returns to the Quad after shopping she sees that the white car that had
been parked across from her is gone.
While she is putting the groceries in, an older gentleman who was doing
the shopping cart retrieval comes up to her and tells her that he saw the car
    hit the truck.
So now, she is looking all over the truck to see where the damage
is and the guy says to her 'is ok, you got biiiig truck, was little car, no hurt truck'
She keeps looking and he must think she's getting upset, (she was nervous!), so he keeps repeating
'no problem, biiiig truck, little car' then he shows her pieces of the car's
    tailight that
were on the ground in front of the Quad, all the while saying 'biiiig truck, little car, you ok, car not'

Now, while all this is happening, a couple comes walking to their car, located
a few parking spaces away from the quad. They are both carrying bags of
groceries and, although the wife stopped at their car, her husband just kept
walking past it, over to my wife with his bags still in his hand. He comes over
    and starts saying
'Wow! Now this is a truck! This is a big truck!' His wife is standing at their
car, groceries in her hands waiting fo him to unlock the doors and he's looking
into the back of the quad, ('cause my wife had the door open from loading the groceries).
He yells to his wife 'Wow! Now this is a truck !' and then starts
talking to Sandy, 'This is a truck ! this must have set you back a lot, what did
this cost 35 grand, 40 grand' The guy's wife starts yelling at him about why is
he asking her the price of the truck, its none of his business, and he keeps saying
'Wow! This is a truck, this is a big truck', and at the same time, the shopping cart guy is still saying to my wife, 'is ok, biiiig truck, little car'.

So, when the show was all over, it turns out that the shopping cart guy was able to
write down the license plate of the car, (apparently he sees those things pretty
    regularly in his job there).

Of course when my wife got home I HAD to go outside with the flashlight and check it
out. All the lights were fine, I only found a barely visible, < 5 inches long, rub mark on the
lower passenger side,(which is where the car's taillight pieces were), of the
    front bumper.

I have a 4.7, 4x4, 5 sp with the T&H package (big tires and sway bar) and it "hops" in the corners when I hit uneven pavement. This is after reducing the tire pressure form 50 psi to 40 all round and have about 60 pounds in three small sand bags sitting by the tailgate. I had read some posts that the ride would improve if there was some weight in the back. Might not be enough yet - still experimenting. The other thing is that I'm getting used to it.

I have the same set-up as you do. My truck does the same thing. It also feels like the rear wheels get airborn sometimes because when I hit a bump the RPM's rise and the back wheels "skid" I have about 47 psi in each wheel. Make sure you do not let out to much air because you will get worse gas mileage and premature tire wear.

After two weeks of driving with the tires at 50 psi and no weight in the back, I noticed that the little "tire hairs" were only worn off the center 1/3 of the each tire. Figuratively, I also felt that I would eventually get carpal tunnel syndrome from "feeling" every little bump.

I figured that I was witnessing uneven tire wear so I did what I did. I agree that too low of pressure will wear the edges more and reduce gas mileage.

Have almost 3000 miles on QC. Everyone likes it. I still think its more fun then my 88 Trans Am.

    SLT+
    5-sp
    4.7L
    Power Seats
    T & H package
    4x4
    CD
    Power overhead
    Alarm System
    Fog Lights
Medium Bronze Pearl Coat/Light Drift Wood

    Add Ons
    Vent Visors
    Bug Flector
    Soft Tonneau
    Line-X spray in liner.

Bed seems to be aligned fine, doors aligned fine, gas mileage avg. 17.5, highway 19.9. I like many also have the rear end hopping on rough roadway. This truck is everything.
