The financing is through Toyota Financial the finance guy said GAP is included with Toyota but now I see a 650 charge. I never buy extras and would have declined GAP since I have auto insurance. I feel this was snuck in. The maintenance plan I opted in for $2 a month as one service pays for it at the dealer.

GAP is not included with TFS, and the price could have been negotiated down.

The service plan is $371, or over $10/mo

Think of it as a learning experience; the joy you get driving your new car will far outlast the remorse you may have at the moment.

Thanks... I didn't balk because the payment I agreed to with the sales team was 380.... When I was signing the papers, he mentioned gap was included. Than the maintenance plan he said was $371 but giving discount on $2.77 a month and payment would be 382.77...i agreed there as oil changes are $120 at dealer.

If they baked GAP in without really saying I am a little disturbed by that. This was also the first all digital signing I did. I usually hold the papers and look closely and reread. This was sign and click on the desk and all docs given to me on a USB drive. One more thing to look for at a dealership

Auto insurance is not a substitute for GAP insurance on a lease. Everyone has auto insurance.

For a CX-5 Touring FWD with Preferred Equipment Package, 10K miles, 36 months, they offered a monthly payment of $319 with zero down but they quoted MSRP of $30005 and selling price of $27608. They said this price included $250 lease cash, $750 loyalty and $750 lease (but they also said they can't waive some $300 fee for return of my lease and cited change to Toyota as explanation for this as well). They also shared the residual was 58%. The numbers didn't add up, so I walked. Can you please
1) confirm the MF for 94560?
2) let me know what the monthly payment should be based on selling price of $27608?
3) share whether you agree that $319/month is not a good price?

1) .00001 MF (it's likely the dealer is marking up the rate.. our numbers come from TFS)

4) No info on that. They did change banks from Chase to TFS. I don't think there is anything in a lease contract that requires the bank to waive the fee. It was always customary for returning customers. But, that's all up to Mazda and the bank. The dealer has no control over it..

Can confirm that Chase won't waive the disposition fee when you lease a new Mazda with TFS. The reason that Chase waived it in the past is because it meant a new lease on their books. A new lease on TFS's books doesn't do anything for Chase. That's why there's the $750 lease-to-lease loyalty instead to make up for it.

Here's a data point for you. I ended up trading in my previous CX-5 lease on a new 2020 CX-5 Grand Touring FWD with Premium Package in Austin, TX.

For some reason, they didn't include the full contract printout in the delivery packet, so I don't have all the details handy. But I'll provide my best guess at the component values where possible.

MSRP $33,260
36 months, 12k per year
$0 down

$750 loyalty + $750 lease-to-lease loyalty + $250 lease cash
First month's payment waived, so true $0 due at signing

$650 acquisition and $337 gov't fees rolled in

Not including sales tax, I owe 35 monthly payments of $330 ($350 including reduced TX tax)

I believe the residual was 57%, and so if they did give me 0.00001 MF through Toyota Lease Trust (it was marked up in previous worksheets they gave me, but I didn't see the last one), then I think that implies a sale price before incentives of around $31,610, or a dealer discount of $1650. I don't know that precisely until I get a copy of the contract from them.

On the 2017 CX-5 lease that was ending, they gave me a trade allowance of $1,000 over my final lease balance, which was at the upper end of the range of other offers I received (Carvana was a bit more). Of importance, I accepted that equity as cash. This allowed me to get the tax advantages of the trade-in, but without reducing the cap cost as an effective down payment. Incidentally, that arrangement created a huge headache in the Finance office, but they got it straightened out eventually.

All in all, I feel pretty good about the deal. We got a new car with more safety/tech features than the one we traded (MSRP on this one is $3425 higher), and we've got the exact same monthly payment as before, plus $1,000 cash in my pocket. Worth noting that the previous lease was 33/15k, while this one is 36/12k (and first month waived).

The information here regarding actual residual, money factor, and incentives is always super helpful in preparing to negotiate a deal like this. I can go in knowing exactly what I want to see from the dealer, and I don't have to wonder if I'm leaving anything on the table, beyond just working the dealer contribution. Thanks again!

So I was just quoted the following for a 10k/36mo. lease on a 2020 GT Reserve in Chicago (60643):

"So with Chicago taxes and the minimum down of 342 which is plates and doc fee you would be 542 a month. That’s at invoice pricing of 34 867. The residual is 58%."

Am I crazy for thinking that's an insanely high monthly? I'm trying to get a payment around $400/mo. and dealers don't seem to want to play ball on this vehicle, even with 2021s right around the corner.

If you live in the City of Chicago, you pay both state sales tax (calculated on the sum of the payments, and either paid up front or added to the cap cost), plus the city taxes the monthly payment. Total tax burden is something like 17%.

Now, that doesn't mean it should add up to $542/mo. Can you get a copy of the lease worksheet for review?

In Ohio, the tax is levied up front on the total lease payment.

The upfront tax is probably on the rebates. Not sure why they couldn't roll that in with the rest of the upfront tax, but no big deal.

I don't know why there is 152 of up front tax for the first month. Regardless, the MF is marked up, which is more of the issue here right?

In Ohio, the tax is levied up front on the total lease payment.

The upfront tax is probably on the rebates. Not sure why they couldn't roll that in with the rest of the upfront tax, but no big deal.

What is the MSRP?

MSRP is 30,705. Do you think it is worth pushing the MF angle?
