Hi all! I am thinking about buying a Toyota Echo 2003 (66K) for my mother who's car has gone on to a better place. I've found a very good deal that we are excited about, but there is one problem...NO POWER STEERING!!!

I have been told that it is possible to install power steering on the vehicle, but have no idea how, how much, or what I would need to do.

My mother has arthritis and this is a no go if I can't do it, or pay for it to be done.

Please assist with any information that would be helpful for my issue.

    thanks,

    gghilton00

Check Toyota Echo to see whether others have attempted to install power steering.

I've just noticed brake fluid on the driveway. Appears to be coming from the base of the fluid reservoir. Any way to tighten it. It appears as though the connection may be inside the fluid itself. Also looking for advice on a leaking rear moonroof.

I have a beautiful 1995 Lincoln Continental (beige). The other morning, it wouldn't start. Up to then it ran perfectly. My mechanic suspects it's the Timing Chain. I want to sell it.

I recently replaced the air suspension system with the coil suspension system, guaranteed for life of the car.

The body is in beautiful condition. (some paint peeled off the rubber front bumper). Inside, there is a ripe in driver's seat upholstery, and the headliner is coming down in the back above the rear window. The passenger window works intermittently (tho it is up, it has never stuck when down)

I have done all scheduled maintenance, and kept records of that. Emissions passed easily.

What i want to find is a Lincoln Enthusiast, who would love to own and work on the car, and restore it to its day-before-yesterday top-running condition.

If anyone knows such a person, Please let me know!

Thanks so much, You all !

I'm new to this site and would like some advice.
My husband had an accident yesterday. He was at a stop sign and looked both ways before making a left turn. The other driver was coming South and rammed into him (driver side) as he made his turn. The side of our car had to be cut to get him out. The car may be totaled. I spoke to our insurance adjuster today and he was not very nice at all. He basically said that my husband is at fault since he was at the stop sign and the other guy was going straight. How can he make such a general statement without even investigating the accident. We don't have the police report yet. If they do find that he is at fault, how does this affect the replacement value that the insurance company will give us if they do total the car? Our insurance company is Travelers and we live in NJ. Also, what type of increase in rates should I expect to see if they find he was at fault? I am just so upset at this point. Thankfully my husband is ok..no broken bones. We have been with the same insurance company for years and it seems that when you DO need them, they are not on your side and are quick to pass judgement without having the facts. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for listening.

    I have a 1999 Toyota Camry CE 4 Cylinder, 120,000 miles.
same problem began three years ago (2004, @70,000 miles)

    Here is the problem:
Sometime (10-20% chance) the engine immediately died just after it started regardless cold or warm engine (the cases like turning off the engine for 20 min then restart) what I did was that I kept pressing the gas paddle (try to keep it running around 20k-30k RPM) right after it started for 20 seconds to a couple minutes, then released the paddle, it would keep engine running fine. and it could run like normal.

One shop replaced my idle control valve ($300, @70,000 mile, Jun, 2004) at the first time and the second shop cleaned it for second time ( @101,000 miles, May, 2006)

Now the same problem appears again (less than a year)! Any ideas? I really appreciate ….

Does anyone have the breakdown of the fuse map? The manual is not helpful in that the symbols used on the card chart (taken from the car) have no explanation. Seems silly that I don't know what all these little symbols mean... or does it?

    Hi there,

I went to the dealer today. I found the car I was looking for, a new GTI. My only concern is that the car already has 170 miles. Do you guys think this is ok? Should I get a discount for that?
Most of the cars at the dealer have 10 to 20 miles and, as you can imagine, that is what I will wish for mine.
    Thanks!

First off thanks for making this great site where people can share problems regarding their vehicles..for the past 4 weeks iv been trying to deal with a problem with my 95 corolla...First off it was the light problem from the parrking lights...could not find the problem becuase it was not making the parking lights turn on...then repaired it using an external relay, anyways the main problem wich i cant fix is with my engine..First off at cold starts sometimes it starts good sometimes not, at most of the times it smells like gas, and when it does start you step on the gas and the engine stumbles and sometimes dies, as long as it is cold it will start when it is getting a little hot the engine will not start..another thing is the exhaust manifold is broken, i tried repairing that by welding it but no luck, it broke again so will have to get a new one, anyways the other thing is it throws some water from the manifold i was guessing it was because of the broken manifold..im trying to see if it could be the head gasket that the problem..anyone with good tips will be very much appreciated..

I am not sure which way to go and I have thoroughly confused myself through reading way too many articles!

I have awful credit. Bills are now paid and I do not have any outstanding debt but I already did the damage.

I have my own business that has really taken off and I have a 95 Aurora with 162,000 miles that seems to be on it's last legs.

I am able (looking at my long term finances) to pay from 12,000-14,000.00 cash for something. However, the accountant I have been consulting with says I need business expenses fast.

What are the opinions and is it possible to assume a lease and make all of the payments at once?

I would prefer not to buy outright used as I do not want to spend on repairs.

The cars I really like are an Acura TSX or an Audi A4. On swapalease, I can afford to pay for several leases at once.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'm looking at a pre-owned QX56 in very nice condition. It has about 40k mi and was built in Jan. '05. Given all the issues posted (brankes, rattles, squeaks, etc...), would it be safe to say that after 40k without issue, this might be one of the good ones? I test drove the vehicle and it appears rock solid. I will be getting all service records, but according to the owners, the brakes have never been an issue. In fact, they were automatically upgraded when they brought the car in for a routine oil change. Is there anything that I should be looking for, testing, asking, etc...to ensure I am not getting a lemon? They are selling because this couple has 5 cars and only 2 drivers. Also would you recommend getting an extended warranty?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

    Hello,

I know this is a hard question to answer. I have a 1995 Ford T-bird LX and I am having some minor problems (O2 sensor etc). I need to get it changed / repaired. BUT everytime I go to a dealer, they rip me off ( charge me atleast 500 $ for any small thing). How do I find a reliable / average mechanic or an auto repair shop in and around Cleveland OH ? What is the right forum for asking questions with respect to mechanics ? Can somebody help me in this regard.

    Thanks,

I recently had to have my power steering pump replaced by the dealer, after driving it for a couple of days it seemed to start making the whining sound again so I took it back to the shop about 15 days after having it fixed. Now they are saying that the hose is leaking and needs to be replaced. How can I find out if any damage has been done to this new pump?

I am trying to sell my 2005 Toyota Sienna LE. It has 9600 miles. It is in excellent condition. I posted it on craig's list. I used KBB to come up with the asking price ($20500). I financed thru toyota to buy this car. Suppose someone is interested in buying the car, how do I proceed? Are there any forms that I can download from the web (like contract)?
I don't have the title since the car has not been paid. I intend to pay the loan in full from the sale price. But how will the buyer give me the money without having the title. I am confused about the sequence of events that need to happen. Can you please help ? Thank you.

Hello: I'm looking for information on average fuel efficiency and miles travelled per year on cars dating pre 1970. Is there a start you can suggest for this type of research? Just looking for averages, or that matter, gut feeling from people's experiences of what they've seen out there.

    Thanks,
