I have a 2000 passat wagon that's had wacky electrical problems since birth...here's today's -- car wouldn't start...got it going with a jump and drove it a while to recharge, but when I turned it off, the radio stayed on, as did a fan under the hood and probably other stuff I didn't notice ... I assume this is what caused the battery to die in the first place... I've disconnected it for now but can't keep doing that forever ... I'm guessing alternator, but don't know much about cars... I see so many Passat electrical problems posted here that I'm figuring someone out there can enlighten me ... Thanks... Rick in Cocoa Beach
Thanks for the help...I have been out of action, mostly, while my home computer suffered the Blue Screen and Black Screen of Death...I was without my unit for 10 days, and, while I could use my office computer, like I am now, I generally try and post in the evening...
Altho, if I need a break from whining clients, I do hop onto Edmunds, so I can hear everybody whine when their car is totalled, worth $5K, and they owe $15K, and they wonder why insurance won't pay off their upside down note...I just shift from one whining to another, but the Edmunds whining is quite silent, actually...:):):):):):):):):)..happy, happy me
I need to remove/replace the heater core. I've done another auto cores but not the jeep. Question: from the inside you see the (over-all) heater housing. Where are the (bolts) to remove this housing? Inside or eng. compartment side. Thanks, Brad

 The supercharger on my Kompressor is causing me a lot of problems and I would like to find out if other owners are experiencing the same problems and if anyone might have a remedy. My car has 118k miles and has a recurring problem with the oil seals on the supercharger failing. This in turn causes the oil to leak into the supercharger and the fuel mixture clogging up the mass air flow sensor. When the sensor becomes clogged it basically renders the supercharger useless.
I have had the M-B dealership supposedly fix the problem under the extended Starmark warranty only to have it happen again after the warranty expired. My current mechanic tells me this is a chronic problem with the M-B supercharger and the only suggestion is to replace the supercharger at my expense $$$$!!!!
Any suggestions? Any fixes or remedies? Should I pursue the lemon laws in the State of Ohio?
Help, I love the car but I am very disappointed with the quality of this particular engine.
3 days back I bought a new 2007 Honda Civic LX. I asked for a rear spoiler($590) and so they ordered one. Now i dont want it. I went back to them but they said any accessory ordered cannot be refunded. They showed me a form I signed which said " I hereby accept this WE-OWE with the understanding that it is valid for only (90) NINETY DAYS FROM THE DATE OF ISSUANCE, and no refund will be given on any accessories purchased at the time of contract"
THe spoiler is currently not installed and probably being ordered...is there a way I can still get a refund for it??
Convince them they could resell it easily but you'll have to make it worth their while! Meanwhile, Civic owners may have some experience and good advice in Honda Civic Accessories and Modifications.
This Morning, I went to a Jeep Dealer in Spring, TX. After finding a Wranglar that just meet my requirement, we negotiate the price, they show me the paper with the MSRP and told me that is their invoice price from Chrysler. The best they can do is MSRP+$300 to sell to me. Is it reasonable? and how can I do? Please give me some suggestions, and I am appreciate your help.
I disconnected the the battery to charge it and reconnected it in my 2002 3.2 TL. I entered the anti theft code number for the Nav System and it came back to life. However the code number I enter gets rejected by the radio. I have to re-enter the code 40 to 50 times before the radio accepted the code. Is there a trick to get the radio to accept the code? Has anyone seen and solved this problem?
I want to buy a Pontiac 2007 Torrent. I believe it is a little cheaper than the Honda CR-V. Am I right? I have always had a white car. Will black exterior with ebony leather be a terrible choice? I need ebony leather because I have a black lab. What exterior color have you all liked the best? Please respond. I need to make my choice soon. The dealership cannot find black but they did find silver. On the fence as to whether to settle for that choice. Black gets dirty easy, yes?? But doesn't it look more expensive? Eileen
I'm looking for opinions on whether or not a proposed deal is a scam. I am the seller of the vehicle and I have been speaking to a gentlemen over the phone who wants to buy my H2 and import it to Australia. Would that be the smart shoppers forum?

I have a 1993 Toyota Camry. This is an old clunker handed down to me from someone. So far I have ended up spending about 6000 dollars on the car since I purchased it in Dec 2005. I have replaced the transmission and the timing belt. The tires, the wiper blades and finally the engine.
The car has failed inspection this year. The mechanic has suggested me to replace all the four brake calipers. The price quoted on the calipers is around 220 dollars a piece + a labor charge. The invoice price is around 1200 dollars.
Is this the right price for replacing the brake calipers?

Has anyone had any experience with the spare tire? I'm seriously considering buying this car but the dealer said I couldn't change the tire because it is wired under the vehicle and I would have to get roadside assistance. This seems wierd. What happens if I can't get cell phone coverage in a place where I have a flat? (This has happened to me before when I was locked out of my car). There are several "dead" areas near us."> :confuse: :confuse: <img src=" :confuse:
I have 2004 Ford F150 Crew Cab 4X4. Started getting a scraping noise that I can hear only when the windows are up and the radio is off. It has something to do with rotation. It speeds up as you go faster. I thought it was the brakes, but the noise seems to be coming from the transfer case. Its sounds like to pieces of metal slightly touching.
I have a 1998 Volvo S70 GLT with approximately 118,000 miles. The body and interior are in good condition, but it needs a new engine. My mechanic has offered to purchase the car for basically his time spent diagnosing the problem ($400). My question is how can I find out the fair market value of my car, and has anyone ever used a car selling service which claims to sell my car at auction for a fee?
Then of course you'll have to deduct for what it would cost to buy and install a USED engine. If it helps, I'd estimate about $3,000--$3,500.
Good luck.
No, you can't sell a car with a bad engine at an auction unless it was to wreckers--who would offer about the same as your mechanic or perhaps a bit more.
